Reporting is not that easy, especially setting up for year end statements.
Membership interface capabilities. Good product and better than what we had, but I didn't get much training. When we have used customer service/support it has always been good. I am part time, so do not have lots of time to waste trying to figure things out and dealing with customer service.
Avantages
Lots of fields available, good access for members. Info seems to be reliable if entered properly. Easy to fix mistakes.
Inconvénients
Setting up reports is not very intuitive and is hard to customize. Not enough directions within the product to guide you.

Great Church Software Management
Avantages
I like the way this software allows you to access other church members along with photographs to recognize individuals within the church. I currently am assigned the process of checking roll in our Sunday School class which I do on this software and submit without the need for paperwork.
Inconvénients
I really haven't discovered anything negative with this software yet. However, having only used it for a about a year, I am still learning it.

Not Intuitive, But Great Once It's Going
ACS is good stuff -- if it is set up correctly and consistently. I like it overall. But there is a steep learning curve.
Avantages
I love how flexible/customizable it is, to fit nearly any faith community. It also can be integrated with other programs (giving, background checks, etc.).
Inconvénients
TOTALLY not intuitive. Also, I was assured that the ACS Finance training I was going to was completely for non-finance people and I couldn't follow it at ALL due to the heavy, HEAVY reliance upon accounting jargon.

ACS Software
New to using the software. Minimal training as the previous person had already left the job. Too expensive for the church to send new hires to ACS Training.
Avantages
Can make up a Form Letters, Labels etc to send to entire congregation. Can copy someone's address to your clipboard for ease of sending letter/envelope to one person.
Inconvénients
Hard to do a search for a group of people. Very complicated to get exact list of criteria to get the search results you want.

ACS - its multi-faceted!
ACS was the database for a church where I served as Office Manager. It tracked giving, profiles of our members, classes, attendance, the list was truly endless. I also utilized it to generate Year End Giving Statements for tax purposes.
Avantages
I am duly impressed with it's power - searches, record retrieval, Tax statements, etc. This was my primary software for over 7 years, I also attended several seminars to become more proficient within ACS.
Inconvénients
It was occasionally non-intuitive, but their Customer Service reps are Fantastic at troubleshooting!!

Have been using ACS for 1 year now. Still learning how to best utilize the software. Especially enjoy the ability to track and communicate with the church family.

Great company, outstanding customer service, excellent products
PROS - The best thing would have to be the company and the incredible employees that make up this company. The customer service and desire on behalf of the employees to help you accomplish your goals is superb! The products reflect the needs of and input from the end users. Products have changed over the years as churches changed how they do church. The company is incredibly responsive to customers needs and requests. The support staff is patient and always polite - AND they resolve your issue or explain/teach/show you how to do what you want to do.
The introduction of their next generation software - REALM - is the answer we've been looking for. It integrates the best of every product they have into an updated platform that is intuitive. And ACS is literally attacking full force the development of this product to help their customers do ministry effectively.
CONS - It is not the most intuitive software, but that is due to the tremendous functionality that has been built into a product that many churches"don't want to change." Some customers want their software to stay the same, others want new functionality and updates - ACS has managed to be responsive to both ends of the spectrum.

Love this program
I use mainly the People side of ACS and it is so helpful with keeping all of my groups together. Love this software.

Avantages
The thing that I like most about this software is that it can hold a very large amount of data.
Inconvénients
The thing I like least about this software is that it is not user friendly, it is difficult to figure out how to use.

Our church uses it to track congregants and their personal details.
Being able to easily recall information about people in order to reach out to them.
Avantages
It was easy to pull up information on how to contact someone or to find out personal details about their family. This is especially helpful in large churches where you might not know everyone who attends very well.
Inconvénients
I don't have any cons that I can think of at the moment. I might have to say that the information may need to have stronger security settings, or I was given more access than some people (ie. volunteers) maybe should have.

60 Seconds to Find 10 People, 10 seconds to find 1
Not recommended. Extremely slow.

The feature set looked good. The interface was decent.
Inconvénients
SLOW!! I had used church software for 14 years when I went to serve at a mega church in central Florida that used ACS. It was like going back to dial up from a FIOS world. With a mere 20,000 people in the database it took 60 seconds or more to find 10 people whose name matched a certain criteria such as "Billings*". And looking up one person by name search would take no less than 10 seconds. But worse of all, a simple attendance graph would take 45 minutes to generate. A roll could take 10-20 minutes to create and you were locked out of doing anything else. We had state of the art servers ($40k worth!), gigabit backbone, 100base in the office and decent desktop/laptop units. Just "processing rolls" to print was an all morning task. We printed them monthly s a result.

Outdated and Frustrating
Possibly I am only using one aspect of the software, but it seems like one must have to have a lot of training in the program to know how to use it well. The user interface is also very outdated.
Avantages
For our needs, it does take our general weekly attendance and keep track of it, which is what we need.
Inconvénients
This program is NOT user-friendly. It seems to take two different attempts to log in and then you have to follow a series of confusing links to get where you need to go.

Rating of ACS program for Episcopal Churches
I have used ACS for 16 years from DOS to Windows to Online based. Online was an awesome expansion! There was never down time (except for middle of the night maintenance) and it was always fast. Backups were never a worry. Customer Service was friendly, extremely helpful and patient. On site training was available at extra cost.
Avantages
Customization. Online based. Does yearly Parochial Report and sends it to National Church. Parochial Report can be printed daily, weekly, monthly....as many times as you wish for internal reporting to Vestry or Rector. Access to training.
Inconvénients
It can be pricey for smaller parishes/churches. Realm (for smaller parihes) is still young and needs tweaking. When you are used to the fuller ACS version, Realm can be a bit frustrating. Realm only recently had General Ledger talking to the Financial module.

Pretty Decent
We have been using ACS for awhile now and recently switched to ACS on Demand. Our experience has been positive overall and I think that ACS offers a great product. My major complaint with ACS is that with a church our size, there is no easy way to input contributions. We have staff who have to manually input each person's contribution and it takes a lot of time. Otherwise, ACS is perfect for us.

Like All Things, It's Getting Better
I've been using ACS OnDemand products for a year now, and wasn't all that happy with what I've seen. Going to the conference helped, and learning more about the programs directly made some improvements. I don't like the user interface, and how separate all the components seem to be. It often feels like the various parts aren't 'talking' to each other and the user has to be a guru to make it all work.
It's very capable software, once you know what you're doing. I don't like that the training tutorials are a separate annual fee (some instructions are available at no cost, but they aren't terribly comprehensive). It doesn't make the learning easier.
Overall, it's solid, but not user friendly. I've heard some of their newer items are going to be much better, but they aren't developed to the point where it would be effective for my organization to move to them. Choose your products wisely.

ACS provides a simple yet very functional service system for updating our records. Love it!
Record keeping, updating addresses, phone numbers, etc. sending email newsletters, running statistics.
Avantages
Very easy to use. Already has the buttons set up for the least time consuming entries. Can easily add family members.
Inconvénients
Only that it does take some searching to find out how to correct a mistake or undo wrongly entered information.

ACS for Education
I use ACS to track tuition and donations for our institution. For what we need it is perfect! I love that it will remember what you have been tying in, which is helpful for when entering in per class tuitions.
Avantages
Ease of use for entering in.
Inconvénients
When something is "partially paid" it's hard to make changes to the invoice.

Great software for a single site application!!!
Avantages
ACS is very user friendly and easy to set up. I set up the general ledger and contributions modules and found this a very intuitive process. ACS is flexible and has adaptive reporting that makes it easy to gain access to your data.
Inconvénients
ACS needs to "grow" it's ChMS application so that it can compete with the older players in this market. We would like to see more functionality that would make it more viable for a multi-site application.

ACS Rocks!!
We've used ACS OnDemand for nine years. Last year we converted to Realm, an ACS product. Their products and customer service are the best I've used in my almost 20 years on a church staff.

People Module/Search
This is a powerful database. We cleaned up our data files before our import of the data into The City. The ability to have these two programs communicate with one another and to input the data only once is very necessary. Input of profile info by individual users is also helpful unless, of course, the user does not update information and then is disconnected and church may be unaware of this disconnect. We have been proactive to survey users to re-establish and maintain connection and up-to-date data.

Love this Tool!!
I do bookkeeping for 7 churches at present; have done as many as 8. All use ACS. None are mega churches, so I can't review for that size church. Some have Realm for their people software, some have OnDemand, one has ACS Desktop. The efficiency of this software makes it possible for me to handle the finances of these churches. I have had great experience with the tech support dept. They've been knowledgeable, courteous and professional. ACS is my software of choice.

Better and less expensive software is available
Avantages
Serves as a decent database for keeping track of members.
Inconvénients
The learning curve was massive and the user interface was not as easy as it could have been. We saved over $4,000.00 a year by switching to Breeze ChMS

Outdated software
There is no way to extract the data or do most functions without assistance from the company.
Avantages
It provides a database to keep the members and accounting. It also provided the financial accounting required.
Inconvénients
There is no way for the congregation to interface to the database to maintain their own information. this package puts a huge burden on the administratoe to keep it all up to date.

A robust program with multiple solutions
ACS offers multiple levels of solutions for churches with weekly attendance from 100-20K. Previous reviews have indicated an outdated system UI, however, it is fair to note that with any software you only get out of it what you put into it and the UI should never be the difference between success and failure of any ChMS. ACS employees have served in churches, on staff and they understand the needs of reporting, communication, member facing engagement tools and best practices in data management. All software evaluations and subsequent implementations should be done with prayer, care and discernment with staff to decide what you need and why you need it.

Grown with software
Church has been with ACS for over 16 years, have grown with the changes. Currently running on our own server, with workstation versions on desktops, and kiosk on check in stations. Software performs most task needed for basic church management. Ability to use Dymo label writers and touch screen computers for check-in was a huge improvement. No real work flows or process flows with automated steps.

Avantages
The customer service with ACS is very helpful. Their website is user friendly and saves your previous orders to allow for easy reordering.
Inconvénients
Our organization recently switched banks and it required a couple phone calls to design new checks with our new information on it. The customer service was very helpful but it was somewhat time consuming.

ACS is kind of the standard for many churches in our denomination. However, it has taken years to find the time to utilize it to a large extent. At times it is challenging to learn in an timely manner. However, ACS is a good, functional product.

A tool for empowerment
In my role of Ministry Services Director, this software provides a variety of functions to facilitate and disseminate the work of the ministry before us. As a denominational office, communication at times can be taxing but ACS offers many options to get the job done while bringing a "closeness" to those that work alongside our office. Although there are many default settings built in there are even more user-defined settings that can be tailored to suit an organization. Above all else, the customer support is stellar. There is none like ACS!

ACS makes my job easier with Realm!
We love Realm! We have been using it for a year. It's fantastic! It has features that are user friendly and our church goers love it. Above all, if you can't quite figure something out, the brilliant folks at ACS really are just a phone call away and are always there to help!

Great Support!
We are using Realm, and there has been a learning curve, and some bumps as they role out new features, but they have great support which is always ready to help.

Using Realm has freed us from the office and are able to use it on the go.

Powerful Product - Stellar Service!
I've been using ACS People Suite for more than two years, and a year and a half VERY in-depth, and I've found it to be a powerful, reliable software with a lot of customizable content and reporting. In addition, the company as a whole seems to have the same vision I do for using data as a powerful tool to support our overall mission to reach unbelievers and enfold believers. And their customer service is definitely NUMBER ONE! So knowledgeable and helpful, and a pleasure to deal with on every level.

An amazing product
What a great suite of products - this is the best database by far.
As with anything, there will be some limitations, but I have not found anything that I cannot work around. The interface does look look like something from 1998, but I'm happy to deal with this when I can so many things on it. Spending time to set up automations will save you hours, and the customer support is simply brilliant.

Great Service, Great Product
ACS has outstanding customer service. The online knowledge base is deep and thorough, but calls to customer support are answered quickly, professionally, and thoroughly.
The software is easy to use, but requires thought to make your own database standards.
I've worked in churches for over 20 years using different software packages but this is by fare my favorite.

expensive and hard to use
As a Children's minister at a small church I need check-in solutions that don't break the bank and are easy-to-use. That's not ACS. Reports are challenging to receive. The secretaries at my last employer in Mesquite hated it for being confusing. My current employer uses ACS but I don't see the benefit of it. If I had a vote, I'd tell them to switch.

Loaded full of features, but poor interface
ACS has tons of features, but connects you to their servers through a virtual desktop portal running windows. In effect, the operation is slow. Mobile access is a challenge.
The customer service is great, but a complicated dated system that is accessed virtually really made this a challenge to use. Workflow is definitely inhibited.

There are so many parts to ACS that you can have the ability to do things you never knew you could do. The ability to manipulate software to do what you need is just fantastic.
The training and the support staff are all very friendly an knowledgeable. They will go out of their way to help you.

ACS is easy to use. Help is available. Great customer support. They are here to serve us so we can serve our churches better. I use this software to maintain our church membership, small groups, attendance, and so many other things. I learn knew things all the time.

Great Church Management software with fantastic customer support.
We are currently using ACS and, of course, the software is a bit dated. Looking forward to migrating to Realm. Even though the ACS technology is maxed out, the product works like a champ. It does so much and the customer support is so good. We love ACS at our church.

I recommend!
Great product. Support can't be beat. Staff so willing to assist in set-up and continuous support. ACS staff are "in it with us" long after the "sale".

It's great but it can be a bit confusing at times and that's where the customer service team excels.
