Unreliable
I will never deal with them again.
Avantages
When the product worked the transcript feature was useful. However, it was down as often as it worked.
Inconvénients
The company said I could try the product and cancel for up to 6 months. They now are refusing to cancel.

When I have issues with functionality, the customer support team are quick to address.
Allows staff to access needed information regarding clients at any location.
Avantages
The ability to have so much information in one place. The client's ability to access Canopy has been very helpful, especially during tax season.
Inconvénients
I believe the search function could be set up to allow a more refined search with more options to search from.

I love Canopy but I wish there were some other functionalites .
Saves time. Clients love it.

Client portals (wonderful). Help with Tax Resolution!!!! I love being able to send client request. Completing forms within the system is very helpful.
Inconvénients
I would like to be able to make customized surveys (like for tax prep, etc).
Other payment methods (like Square) would be good too.

Easy to use
Transcripts in one place and easy to print (the versions from IRS are not); contact info all together with easy clicks between companies and stakeholders
Avantages
My clients are finding it easy to login and transfer files to me, my staff is able to find phone numbers all in one place, and I can find transcripts quickly.
Inconvénients
Removing things is not always intuitive, especially from the to-do list; I occasionally have had problems getting transcripts and not sure if that is on the e-service side or Canopy's

Canopy transcripts is awesome!
Avantages
It is easy to use, and pulls the information from IRS into one place, summarizes it beautifully. I don't have to click a thousand times like the IRS site makes me.
Inconvénients
Nothing so far. I haven't encountered any issues with it.

Excellent and Secure
I had problems exchanging large documents securely. This solves those problems. I don't feel I'm using this program to it's full functionality, but I'm not sure how to integrate it into our work flow.
Avantages
Clients and I can exchange data securely and without size limits.
Inconvénients
The price increase, minimal customer service as to work flow integration.

Terrible. Sold a product that was not nearly as functional as they purported

Left after 30 days. The sales team is efficient. Not so much the implementation team after the contract is signed.
Inconvénients
They held me to a annual subscription because I missed the trial period deadline due to their scheduling mix ups regarding training. Feels like a trap to get a full year from me. Email me for a personal review

I love that we can have all of our representation clients in one place.
Avantages
Organizing clients and keeping their data in one place, getting transcripts. Having a spouse as a new client yet could be within one client.
Inconvénients
No alerts or ways to ensure we can create a calendar to keep track of deadlines. This would help us to make sure we will not miss any deadlines.

Avantages
Convenience for both my clients and my practice. Saves time!
We serve clients living far away and I would like to make sure they have an easy and especially secure way to upload their information to us.
Inconvénients
Not everyone was able to open their invite right away and then it was expired....
I would also love to have an appointment and review link to my website/google my business link added to make it even easier to set up appointments.

This helps my clients and me stay organized and communicate more effectively.

It speeds up the exchange of information with my clients and makes it easy to review the information with my clients and update the information as needed. It also keeps things well organized.
Inconvénients
It has no capacity to deal with the State of Minnesota, beyond preparing a REV184 (POA). I realize there may not be enough use in Minnesota to justify the investment of developing that capacity, but it would be nice.

Canopy has become the centerpiece of our office workflow.
Avantages
The tax representation features have drastically reduced our time required to analyze and respond to IRS issues on behalf of our clients.
Inconvénients
I would like to have more features that allow me to make mass edits or additions to contacts. We have a small practice but over 500 contacts in the software and making changes can be a chore that requires a large time commitment from admin staff.

1- Task for tracking returns
2- Mass emails to email clients or client by their tag
3- Tags for clients so I can group them
Inconvénients
Con
1- Wish there was an option to extend in tasks instead of changing the date and then having to rechange the date when it is rolled to the next year
2- More editing options when you mass email. You can not add photos or change font.

It's a great piece of software that is continually striving to be better!

Inconvénients
I wish that the document sharing worked more like a dropbox where you could edit the documents and not have to download and then reload. I would also love to see an app on the apple and android platforms.

Saves time in mailing the documents and Security and storage are very helpful.

Avoid emails. Security. Ease of use and user friendly. Helps so much in sending the documents to clients. Avoids repeated requests for the same documents.

As a first time user, it took some time to get used to the system. Client's invitation expire and keep asking for the invitation again and again.

Canopy, communication made easy!
My overall experience using Canopy has been enjoyable and thankful. I enjoy the security it offers in sending and receiving sensitive files. I am able to receive notices from my tax agent in real time and when out tax return was ready we were able to review our return without having to make an appointment with our agent.
Avantages
What I liked most about using Canopy was how easy it was to navigate. It aliviated a lot of the busy work when communicating with our tax agent. We could upload a document immediately or in return revived a document waiting for us.
Inconvénients
There wasn't anything I didn't like or appreciate about using Canopy.

Great for allowing your client access

The fact that my clients can access their tax returns and other tax forms as often as they like without me having to email to them over and over again.
Inconvénients
Nothing at this time, I have found nothing about the software that I don't really love. My client seem to like the ideal that they can access their document any time the want

Canopy Review
Avantages
Canopy is a great tax utility for small businesses, it has all of the features that are needed and all of the documents required. Canopy makes organizing tax information with each client easy and all of it is in one place. Canopy promises quite a bit of new features as they update the software.
Inconvénients
One thing that I am concerned about with Canopy is the price, it is pretty expensive to have especially for a small business.

Client Portal should support working with non-local clients.
Avantages
Client portal seems well-integrated and easy to use.
E-mail integration was easy to set up.
Alerts were easy to customize.
Inconvénients
Import was not intuitive.
Portal and client messaging covered in Canopy branding, not my branding.
Tasks and engagements views are limited and not useful. Needs something more Kanban style.
Navigation could be streamlined.

I like the transcripts, but the CRM is overpriced

Canopy has enabled us to centralize our client management and greatly improve communication
We have greatly improved our communications and efficiency. If someone is not available, another staff member can go through the client file and answer questions.
Avantages
The ability to have all of the client communications and documents stored in one place. Prior to using Canopy, we had a separate email system, document transfer system, and CRM. Now, they are all integrated and all team members can quickly access them.
Inconvénients
We would really like it to work more from a project planning perspective. It is a little difficult to enter tasks and then use the entries to estimate the amount of time required to complete them.

Ability to save my clients power of attorney information so I can just refresh and pull a new transcript.
Inconvénients
Sometimes it's not so user friendly. It's not always easy to perform some functions. I'll add a contact and the transcript pull might not work right away and they don't appear in my client list under transcripts.

This is a great product!
Avantages
I like the ease of pulling transcripts and the penalty abatement letters templates. The OIC is a very good tool as well. It allows me to input and change items with great ease.
Inconvénients
I wish that there was a way to hide clients name and to search for names without all being listed. Sometimes I might have a client with me that I need Canopy and when I open it there is the list of names! I try to have it open and ready before they come in my office but sometimes that is not always possible.

Really great marketing to get people using the software should help the company grow and stay around longer. Growth will help them have better software!

I like canopy as it is easy to learn. The staff at Canopy is amazing...willing to help with anything. Great software, company is really trying to make the tax industry easier for tax professionals like myself.
Inconvénients
I have yet to find something that I didn't like about the software, other than maybe the cost. But the cost is something that as a tax professional you get used to. Every year you have to pay fees to use the newest tax software/update.

On stop shop database and communication source that serves all of my clients. I love being able to provide a private and secure ePortal to my clients!

Being able to automate my tax business services, clients create and securely login to their own accounts, and send mass emails with sheer ease!
Inconvénients
Not being able to choose the financial institution/service for customer payments, like PayPal and/or Square.

Product not yet ready for production.
I was told I could cancel within 30 days and get back my initial deposit. I sent a written cancellation in 20 days and told I would get a phone call. No one to speak to in customer service and I just received a charge for next months service. I think its a real product but smells like a scam.
I just want to cancel and get refunded.
Avantages
I was able to get 1 client report that was well organized. 5 other client attempts failed.
Inconvénients
The program was not consistent in processing transcript requests. Better to do it for free through the IRS with less hassle.

Hello Emery- We were able to check into your account and it looks like you were refunded. Have you been able to pull any transcripts with our Chrome extension? That should have fixed any bugs you were experiencing. Since Transcripts is free you do still have access to that feature.

My experience was less than impressive, further I get so many sales calls even after repeatedly I am doing representation with Tax Helper Software
Avantages
Canopy had the capacity of pulling transcripts one at a time, but Tax Helper Software will update all of my clients that have POA over night, 1600 client transcripts are pulled at that time
Inconvénients
Not enough features compared to Tax Helper Software.

Gone with the hour long phone calls to the IRS
Ease of retrieval of transcripts from the IRS.
Avantages
I can get IRS transcripts with ease and not have to sit on hold with an IRS agent. It's as simple as get a POA, submit it, make a request for transcripts and a few days later, there they are!

It can sometimes be difficult to navigate. I find it hard to print transcripts when I want to. But overall, it's somewhat self-explanatory.
