I like the use of Variables and Grid Variables that allow me to reuse jobs for different ETL workflows.

Inconvénients

Lack of version control for the ETL code is a problem.

Avantages

The platform is very user-friendly since it is based on drag and drop functions it makes the whole process easy and can be done by anyone. It is the best option since it is based on pay as you go so we can pay as much as we use. This has saved me a lot of money.

Inconvénients

There are no negatives I have noted till now all the services are top-notch and up to the industry mark. This has helped a lot of engineers and businesses transform and automate their data.

Matillion was the perfect solution for us. We were using another ETL tool that was great for extract and load, but did not address our transformation needs. That is where Matillion came in and was the perfect fit. The scope and scale of their transformation tools is exactly what we need to fully address our ETL needs.

Inconvénients

There is a learning curve to Matillion. Setting it up the first time can be a bit overwhelming, but once we got it set up we were off to the races. Because of the amount of tools they have, there is a bit of a learning curve, but their documentation and support is there to help get you goin.

Data doesn't flow through Matillion, it just saves the Jobs created and use them to run jobs on the connected database

Still a newbie, Matillion is adding more and more options every day but they are not quite there yet.

Avantages

Matillion provides a graphical representation of any SQL query. It helps with explaining what is going on, even to people that have never used SQL before (such as my CEO). It saves me a whole lot of time from writing SQL queries by hand. What I have achieved with Matillion, I don't think I could have done manually.

Inconvénients

Interactions with external custom APIs can be a bit of a pain, but we've always managed to get there one way or another.

We just started using Matillion within the last six months. We have been able to get it set up and are starting to load data for our customers.

What I love most is that you can give it to data engineers as well as ETL engineers with no prior experience with big data.

Problematic API support. ESC closing windows without any warning and I lose everything I prepared in that window! More support for operations not exactly about read like elasticsearch index creation or ability to do PUT, POST and DELETE with API.

I could build a complete ETL process with absolutely no training at all in just a few hours. All of the components I expected to see where there, and heaps more. When I needed help - there it was!

Inconvénients

Versioning and branching is difficult when developing, there is a total reliance on a unique component name.

The easy of use is great. Being able to easily migrate data from multiple sources into AWS is a dream.

Sometimes the error logs are not very descriptive so it can be hard to debug at times.

Once configured, it is easy to setup a workflow in minutes. The tool has lots of easy to use features.

Search capabilities could be better. Let's say I want to search for the use of a particular object (ex: a datbase table). There does not seem to be an easy way to do that.
