1. The software is really easy to use and easy to pick up
2. Short cut keys are very helpful, easy to remember and allow you to become more efficient

Inconvénients

1. User Interface can be improved because the tool bars are layed out in a confussion manner.
2. In the version of Microstation I use, there is no panning and I have to zoom in and out if I want to move my drawing

It allows you to do quick math while seeing the method of getting to the answer. It's compatible with AutoCAD

It is kind of dated. It works well enough but could be more user friendly.

Overall it is a fantastic software. All utilities in this software are powerful. To familiarize these applications we have to spend a little time.

I find 3D modeling and and my integration with Civil discipline is lot more easier with this software.
As a civil structural Modeler myself, I find Microstation is the best to my industry and Bentley's R&D is one of the best learni g paths one could go through.

Needs some improvements in Word editor. Its not that versatile as AutoCAD
I always find that Microstation can definitely do much better Parametric Cell creation. Needs some improvements there.

This software is some of the best for design and drafting. It is stable and has kept a similar look through the version upgrades for an easier use.

The text tools could use some help, there are no dynamic blocks like you would use in AutoCad, and support/help for a problem and/or task is not always easy to find.

Our engineering team likes Microstation for our modeling requirements. We design all of our structures in microstation. All of our product blocks imported seamlessly and the software is very intuitive. Easier to pick up and learn than AutoCAD

Inconvénients

Our engineers struggled when they're first starting with MicroStation because the creation of new drawings is different than other programs. Most CAD systems launch a new, blank, file as soon as you open the program but this program does not.

Avantages

MicroStation is a consistent program that is constantly being improved. It is a powerful platform for any form of design that you are attempting to do. I like that you are able to utilize it for many different aspects of design, whether you are looking at utilities or infrastructure, the intuitive process and amount of information is a great resource to have. It makes creating multiple designs easy!

Inconvénients

There are a few items and tools that could be tweaked somewhat (based more on preference) but otherwise it really is a great product.

I like the cutomization of the interface. But I think great improvement here is the photogrammetry tool or the 3D terrain scan, thats something that will help me a lot.

As it's a powerful 3D software, you need a good workstation to have the possibility to use all the tool with no lag.

I've been using MicroStation as my primary CADD software for my job for the past year and a half. The functions and features are numerous and extremely helpful.

Inconvénients

While it is extremely useful and I have gained a pretty good command over its functions and features, it is difficult and time consuming to learn. I had to sit through hours of tutorials just to learn how to use the interface. Any time I have to learn something new, I often have to search for instructions online or in the help manual. It just isn't extremely intuitive.

Avantages

Fairly stable platform doesn't crash to often. Nice that there are no large "Ribbons" that crowd the screen. I do like the multiple view tabs changing between them is a snap. Lots of on line video's. Control of Xref's is fantastic.

Inconvénients

Setting up a CAD standard for the office to use is a bit confusing. Need to improve the selection method for selecting multiple objects. Full snap button should include the parallel snap option.

A lot of features, top tier tool and most widely accepted. TxDOT official format of engineering drawing

sometimes it has bugs. bugs are not always addressed in a timely manner. some add on app like SignCad has to be loaded each use

has multiple disciplines under one hood. solid, surface, feature and parametric modelling, with very high quality of the visualisation and animation.

After using many other CAD products I find MicroStation very easy to learn. It has more features than you would expect, File size is smaller which will help you keeping your stuff easily without using too much space and sharing will be easy.

Having used many design drawing softwares through the years the last time I used Microstation which V8 I felt like I was still using AutoCAD R12. Features and interface were outdated.

This software allows you to create light files loaded with information. Very useful for urban development design. It is intuitive and quick to use. Full of shortcuts. Quality of the drawings is very high.

When the design is more demanding, the software lacks the necessary tools to meet the requirements. You can find yourself wasting a lot of time trying to search how to do some crazy design.

Microstation runs truly lite. Quick processing speed. I like where Microstation is going with the Connect Edition. Simplyfing it and making it easy to use. Also like the fact that its compatible with GeoPAK and Inroads.

The UI could be better. Too many dialogue boxes are to be opened to complete a simple task. Sometimes it freezes when trying to work with multiple files.

What I like most is the ease of use and precision it provides when doing 3D structures and extractions as well as sheet files.

It is no longer adaptable to new ways of use for company standards. It has been difficult to keep up our standards in the new releases, just too much customization. Even the standards we had for previous 3D info is no longer useable and new ones just take too long to create and implement so we have had to go with other software to do our work now, which is really sad for me as Microstation has always been my go to software.

I really like the user interface of this software. There are many options within the program for producing designs and many different features which can be added to models and prints. The level of customization with the design using this program allows it to be an outstanding option when considering a CAD system to use.

What I like least is that sometimes it can be hard to keep track of all of the little options. While I really liked that so many options for customization of a design exist, I wish that it could be in more of an organize fashioned. It is organized to a degree, but it is not the most intuitive organization.
