Como diseñador he usado QuarkxPress desde sus primeras versiones, siendo el único programa de maquetación que se sigue usando de forma general en las imprentas. A parte de poder maquetar cualquier tipo de texto de forma profesional, permite preparar cualquier proyecto para imprenta en diferentes formatos.

Some nice features, but lacking many. Rickety user experience

We were able to get our project done (a technical user manual). QuarkXPress had the features we needed to get the job done, but some of QuarkXPress's limitations negatively impacted the end product. As a former InDesign user, InDesign has all the features that QuarkXPress has, plus more options and control. The QuarkXPress interface is buggy and frankly feels unfinished. I am shocked that a software that began in the 80s and dominated the market at one point is so low quality. I've used freeware that felt more polished and reliable.

Es war einmal… so fangen in der Regel Märchen an. Vor vielen vielen Jahren… 25 um genau zu sein in der ich Qxpress nutze. Angefangen bei den nahezu allerersten Versionen. Hervorragend stabil, konkurrenzlos, extrem teuer damals. Aber den Preis wert. Und Heute? Der maximal schlechteste Kundensupport den ich man sich je vorstellen kann. Dabei können diese Leute wohl nicht mal recht was dafür. Wohlmeinende Menschen aus exotischen Ländern von denen bisher kein Einziger so recht verstand was ich möchte. Einfache Antworten auf einfache Fragen - selbst das scheint mittlerweile zu viel verlangt.

Still number one in my opinion

Having used Quark since version 3, (that's early 90's on a IIx) I've grown up with it. Does pretty much everything I need it to do as a final platform for print. It's ease of use and the fact they haven't diddled around too much with its core functionality is a blessing. Never had any problems with getting work printed using Quark. Over the years I've used multiple platforms, individually and combined, in designing specifically for print. Have used Indesign. It's OK, but see no reason to change. Try to avoid subscription software these days. Now use Affinity Photo and Draw in place of Adobe stuff which quark works with without issue.

Makes my job easy

I started with Quark Xpress back in the the late 1980's with a box of floppies. Took two hours to install on a Mac Classic. I had no instructions, just the box and the computer. My boss had traded it from a design company that owned him money. So, I am self-taught. But, I have been a faithful user ever since. I have work at print shops, newspapers all over the country and all have used Quark. I actually got fired from a job designing magazines because I wouldn't change over to InDesign when they decided it was a better program. So, I went out on my own, and never looked back. Here we are Quark 2019, 30 years later, not quite so simple to use, but still the best typesetting software available.

Quark makes page design simple

I've used Quark for 20 years, and although the version we have is pretty outdated, it still gets the job done with relative ease.

It's a simple common-sense program that typically can be picked up by a new user quickly because it relates to many other commonly used software programs.

Once avoided, now embraced

When I began using Quark roughly 15 years ago, I would so anything to try to avoid it. It was intimidating and frustrating and, at the time, only a mac program. I desperately tried to convert as many files as I could to Adobe InDesign because I was more comfortable on the pc platform. Now, I love Quark and would prefer to use it over anything else. Having a PC platform version really was the key in my eyes. With recent versions, Quark has become much less intimidating and more inviting to non-industry professionals.

It's the best program for page production, bar none.

I used this for years, but InDesign took over.

It was a great asset in the beginning of my graphic design career. I wouldn't have been employable without it.

Quark is fine, but InDesign is better

I use Quark occasionally, when a client only works in Quark. I find it feels antiquated compared to Adobe Creative Suite.

really powerful. great solution for publishing marketing pieces that will be viewed on PDF, but works equally good for web based or printed.

Simply legacy software that we are forced to use

My overall experience with QuarkXPress is quite poor, with problems opening new image file formats. However we need this software to use old layouts.

Overall, my experience with Quark was super and the program is a high quality desktop publishing program.

There's a Reason it's the Industry Standard

My output doubled with QuarkXPress. Easy to navigate, allowed me to be more creative without having to worry about USING the tool. I just did, and let the creativity flow.

Great Software for any kind of Publishing!

Good! Highly recomend for anyone publishing on a regualar basis. Software is easy to use if you have used other professional publishing software.

QuarkXPress -- Behind the Times

I've used it on and off for over twenty years now. It's ease of use made it the industry standard back in the day, but it's been eclipsed by Adobe and the excellent integration of their multiple software products. And Adobe was always very flexible with pricing -- Quark would never budge on price, and many corporate users chose to jump ship and go with upstart Adobe, which has proven to be a fortuitous move in the design and production industry. I still use it periodically -- there's always that dinosaur client who refuses to move into the twenty-first century. Too bad, Quark!

Overall I would say over the past 20 years since using a number of different software. QuarkXPress has come a long way in its functionality. I will say they continued to make it easier to use for the software that it is but never up to the standards of adobe.

Very useful app for making newspapers and magazines

Overall a very great experience. But the ease of use should be looked after.

Used to be my page layout go-to, but has become an every-now-and-then instead

Until Adobe InDesign overtook the market, Quark was the king of layout software. If it weren't for InDesign within Adobe Creative Cloud, Quark would still be perfectly acceptable and user-friendly to meet layout and desktop publishing needs.

This was an easy to use layout tool. I could easily lay out newspaper pages, version multiples of ads, create books or flyers easily. It was easy & fun to use.

Haven't heard of anyone using this since college

Becoming efficient with any design software takes practice. For the small amount of time I used this tool it served it purpose well.

Great for Layouts if this is your only program

If you are simply doing layout, Quark is the way to go; however, if you need to incorporate images, links, etc. then stick with Adobe Creative Cloud and InDesign so you are not paying for two software formats.

Great program but kinda quirky

Quark XPress

I have used this software from the late 1980s - a long time. It continually improves. I would love to always work in it, but not every printer or client wants their project designed in Quark. Still, it is an amazing software for a graphic designer who loves perfect type on a page.
