FreeAgent for Sports/Recreation Companies

Excellent. As a small business I was tentative to get give it a try. Thought it was too much for us. At the end of the day I decided give it a try and am so happy I did. Their customer support team is great and treats my small business like a major client.

Avantages

The software was easy to learn and very user friendly. This software has freed up a lot of my time and made our entire organization for efficient and effective. One of those programs where you start using it, you don't know how you ever were able to run your company without it.

Inconvénients

Nothing. I have been impressed with all the features. It was easy to learn and their customer support team was there to help me with everything along the way.

Advanced and easy to use online accounting software.

Avantages

You can effectively manage and keep a track of your invoices, expenses and calculate your profits in one place. For each account, there are no such limits on the number of users allowed to access an account. Round the clock customer service and support system are provided. The application is integrated with payroll functionalities. You can contact their accounting experts if you encounter any issues. You can check out the thirty-day trial version, then move on to the paid version, they don’t charge any setup fee.

Inconvénients

It is difficult to export information (if you need it in the CSV format). Expensive when compared to other accounting solutions.

Easily halved my time spent on bookkeeping and accounting

Avantages

I've worked with accounting software before so it didn't need much time to set up. I also like how everything is linked – contacts to invoices to banking feed... lots of the features are automised so you don't have to do everything twice and the system learns and adapts to your set up, e.g. it starts guessing the categories for expenses and other items in your banking feed.

Inconvénients

It doesn't come cheap which for a freelancer is perhaps the biggest hurdle. But it is good value for money.

A Fun to Use Accounting App

Sounds like an Oxymoron doesn't it, Accounts & Fun.
FreeAgent is just that, fun to use, easy to understand and fast.
It has everything you need, links to your bank, multi-currency, great invoicing templates I could go on & on, but it's best feature is the top notch world beating support, they understand business, and are quick and willing to help.
Highly Recommend.

Great for keeping things organised

I've been using FreeAgent since 2011 and its really helped to keep my business in control. Tracking of finances, bills, invoices as well as time and expenses is straightforward, and most importantly keeps my accountant happy at year-end!

Avantages

Easy to use
Excellent customer support

Inconvénients

Doesn't handle subcontractors as a distinct category of user. We have associates who book time and expenses which are billed to clients. We have to set them up as employees and then work around VAT, etc. to make sure we charge customers right amounts and pay contractors accordingly.

best cloud based accounting tools

Avantages

For better accounting, this tool is very helpful in the small business. Since it is cloud based we can access from anywhere. API extension is helpful

Inconvénients

Few options are not user-friendly. Some options are limited for large business users. No other major cons in this tool.

Could the role of a bookkeeper and an accountant in a better way.

Avantages

The API extension is very useful. Through this application, the job of payment and expenses are easier. Since Payroll is available, it is possible to handle all types of invoices. The android application is also very good in its functionality. They give a crisp background on every transaction that is being processed. Also, this application could prove to be more useful to small business groups.

Inconvénients

It is a very expensive software compared to other similar software. The customer support team does not cooperate well with the users. They tend to complicate the troubles of the users. Also, they do not work 24/7.

Excellent software for my business

Avantages

I run a limited liability partnership and FreeAgent gives me the ability to control the accounts without having to involve accountants. Everything is so easy from generating the accounts for Companies House, managing my travel expenses, time tracking and billing, and sorting out VAT and self assessment returns. The best accounting software I've yet discovered for a freelancer business. It has all of our needs covered.

Inconvénients

I had some initial issues but that was mainly because I didn't know what I was doing. A bit of browsing round the help pages soon sorted that out.

Excellent Product

Avantages

It's easy to use, when I've needed to contact customer support they have responded promptly. I have no problem whatsoever recommending this to anyone, in fact I have and we've started using it for our not for profit user group. I can't go back to not using it.

We love this product!

Accounting, invoices, timesheets, banking - all greatly improved. I'm not a "numbers" person, but even I can manage this. Takes a lot of the stress out of everyday tasks.

Avantages

Makes accounting for our small but complex company simple and easy to understand. It's clear, with lots of support, and has taken over from the spreadsheets/Sage/panic that used to be our system.

Inconvénients

No cons - it really does solve all our accounting and administration issues

Very easy to use, a bit pricey for my use case, but good for more complex businesses

Avantages

Well designed and appealing UI
Clear presentation of salient data
Good, clear financial reports - P&L, Balance Sheet, various ledgers
The tax return function looks well designed but I have not had the need to use it yet.
Intuitive to use, with good tutorials
Good online help and FAQ/KB section
Good quality and fast customer support

Inconvénients

For the smaller business who fancies something a bit more than the basic Quickbooks, it is a little pricey and I don't use the payroll/time tracking and projects features or have multiple users which would better justify the higher price.

The account linking is poor to middling for credit cards with manual imports and some data manipulation required. Even when I log in to Lloyds and get my bank accounts I can't see my Lloyds credit cards, although this may well be a limitation on the Bank side.

Reasobnable software for small to micro business but with a few tragic flaws

Be very wary of this company's operating proceedures...

Avantages

The software is access able over the internet, the front end looks OK and the and set up is fairly quick.

Inconvénients

When i was in dispute with my accountant after they missed my annual return date I decided to change accountants. The accountants were able to cut off my access until I had paid their bill, including the cost of my annual return and pay roll which they didn't even perform. Needing access I had to pay rather than wait the two week period as stipulated by FreeAgent. I have since changed to a software where I am in control of access to my accounts.. All the customer service team could do was argue with me...

Good product

Good to be connected in real time data. No complaints.

Avantages

This product lets the client see information in real time. VAT submissions via MTD work well also.

Inconvénients

It can be a bit of trial and error finding the reports you need. But most are there.

Great software

I've been using free agent for invoicing and accounts for a client of mine and it is so easy and intuitive. When you do get stuck their customer service team are available and ready to help.

Clean and easy to use interface

FreeAgent is an easy to use accounting system with integrated proposal, invoicing, expense and mileage modules, as well as the usual accounting functionality like VAT and bank account reconsolidation (explaining all transactions). We find that it offers good value and saves us time and hassle.

Declaration: we offer FreeAgent to our clients but have tried to keep this review as objective as possible for the sake of credibility. We do use FreeAgent ourselves after having reviewed a few online accounting systems.

Avantages

- Clean and easy to use interface
- Easy and professional invoicing with email templates and automatic reminders
- Integration with Google Apps (single sign on - universal navigation) and Capsule CRM
- VAT calculations with easy linking to HMRC

Inconvénients

None so far. It would be great if we could have an even deeper integration with Capsule and perhaps other CRM's as well?

Simple to use and excellent customer service

So far, so good.

Avantages

I haven't used all the features yet as I'm still fairly new to this software. So far, so good. It's invaluable for tracking key financial data. It integrates with my bank feed and payment collection software, creating streamlined and time-saving processes. The customer support is fantastic. I had a lot of questions when I first started using it and they were very patient and knowledgable.

Inconvénients

I haven't found any 'cons' yet, from my experience so far.

I like Freeagent

I've been using freeagent now for just under a year and I'm really impressed by the amount of work that has gone into making this such an intuative accounting package. The customer support is quick and it has a number of excellent features, although I would like to see more - things like the lack of proper multi currency support is an issue for me also...and it has been on the 'to do' list for some time now.

Avantages

Ease of use, good features, excellent graphics, totally customisible

Inconvénients

There are some niggly bugs that still pop up every now & again. Although none of these are major (e.g. a bank account feed stop working etc.) and they are simple to fix, it does take time away from what I'm supposed to be doing.

Easily Navigated Platform

Customer service and helpfulness of reps is amazing.

Best accounting software

Avantages

Easy to use. Multiple payment options Paypal, Stipe etc.,) integration possible. Multicurrency invoicing option is good. Email Invoicing and time tracking is good.

Inconvénients

No major cons are seen in this software. Little expensive compared with similar applications. But it is worth paying.

FreeAgent saved us so much time

Really well thought through product. Designed with small businesses in mind rather than just trained accountants!

Avantages

Quick to understand
Nice dashboard. Quite motivating to see that invoice timeline!
VAT returns are so much easier.
All of our team can use it.

Inconvénients

Very little, would like projects to work slightly better, and be able to add projects on the fly. And automatic bank feeds which are coming soon will be great.

It would be nice to generate invoices and bill part of them up front.

Not bad, but not great!

The software is well organized and basically fits our needs, but could use improvements in many key areas. One being reporting and employees - former employees remain listed for reports even though they are not needed. It would be far easier to just list active employees to make creating reports easier. Add to that that there is no way to create custom reports that you use regularly. All and all the software works well, it just needs some enhancements to these areas to make it easier to use.

lacks multi-currency support

FreeAgent lacks proper support multiple currency. Around a year ago, they said they were adding it. A year later, it's still not there! If you need this feature, its absence is a real killer. Xero seems to have it.

Avantages

Interface is pretty good.

Inconvénients

They say they are "working on" this crucial feature but a year later, nothing.

Hi there. FreeAgent has multi-currency, multi-language invoicing and as of early 2014 allows you to record bank accounts in a foreign currency also.

Quite possibly saved my business

Avantages

Where to start. I LOVE Freeagent! It's so easy to use, it gives great reports, it automatically pulls in bank statements! Brilliant!

Inconvénients

The only thing I would like to see is a little more clarity regarding the different categories of spending and VAT eligibility.

It provides accounting services at your fingertips. You can use it to track invoices, expenses, and banking, as well as some other good features. It has a free trial so you can use it with no obligation. After the trial the rates goes up per month to use. At this price it is very worth it as most other services are slightly more expensive. It can be used as an alternative to more costly programs.

Inconvénients

As your business grows, you may need an accounting software that can do more complex features. This is intended more for a small business. Medium sized and large sized companies may need software that can handle thousands of inputs a week.

Visually pleasing, generates reports that small businesses require to stay on top of financial performance.

Inconvénients

It probably would not be an ideal software if your business grows as you may need financial reporting needs would be more complex than what this software generates.

Perfect tool for freelancers

I am an IT freelancer in the UK with almost no bookkeeping skills. The application has intuitive interface and is quite easy to use. At the same time it has extensive functionality. I can do my invoicing, providing quotes, estimates, etc... I am using it with Google Apps

Convenient accounting software

Avantages

The deal they have with banking corporations enables you to access their service free of charge and provide great ways to link services and provide an accurate representation of profits and loss.

Inconvénients

Its not Simple enough for beginners, but it take time to learn that's why they say it's helpful to have an accountant but other than that there's nothing negative to say

Okay but not great

Avantages

Does what it's supposed to. Lots of functionality with more control than quickbooks. Reports are nice.

Inconvénients

Bank transactions never automatically imported. Created random transactions based on categorization of others. Overall, each of its functions seem to function better independently than they integrate.

Easy Accounting for my Services Firm

FreeAgent has made the management of my creative firm a little less painful. The new mobile site has really saved me a ton of time allowing me to keep up on invoices while on the road.
