Pretty much everything else, all of terminology is foreign and complex, finding anything in the dashboard is absolute nightmare. The billing is not clear or transparent. If all you need is a server for your app/business this is not the place to go unless.

AWS EC2 instances are easy to launch and use we can use any OS we need , AMI are available and we can directly launch them from dash board on AWS cloud . all type of instance are available as per the requirement like general purpose , and instances which are optimised in computation , Memory and Ram can be selected . EBS volume can be attached according to requirement .

Inconvénients

when upgrade is required then we have to separately upgrade instance and EBS volume and run command to attach the EBS volume .

I have used free trial option and it was really helpful to me. It is cost effective. Server deployment is very simple. Scalability is one of the feature i like most. When your virtual machine not in use you can turn it off this feature is benificial for beginners

Amazon EC2 has all the power to deploy virtual machines in minutes. It was so easy that I was shocked the first time I took away my afraid, read the documentation and launched my first VM, which saves me when the pandemic started, and I had to work 100% online.

Inconvénients

There are hundreds of settings that you must to keep on eye on it, because every one of them could charge you with undesired fees. So, be aware of terminate every Instance that you had created, backup your data and erase every storage to avoid surprises in upcoming bills.

Avantages

AWS makes it easy to spin up a server in almost any size/performance combo needed, so you don't have to overbuy CPU capacity, etc. Pick from the thousands of pre-loaded servers or "roll your own" with many flavours of Linux and Windows available. I like that I can prototype a project on a small (as in cheap) server and then scale up to whatever size or number of servers is needed. Taking drive snapshots while live is easy and makes brain dead simple backups.
In 10+ years of Amazon EC2 use, I've never lost a server or virtual drive.

Inconvénients

The number of pre-done server combos is in the thousands, and an easier system for searching and finding server images and selecting server settings would be a plus.

After you get to know it, managing EC2 instances in AWS is super easy - the UX is very good

Inconvénients

Sometimes some operations on EC2 instances take quite a while (which might be fine), but except a "loading indication" that doesn't help - you can't really know if the action still takes place or whether it's stuck.
A progress indicator (even based on common stats, if can't be really measured) - can help a lot.

Its UI is a bit confusing for the starters and updating the servers takes time as we need to apply every patch manually.

It seems like EC2,and AWS in general, is geared to be used ONLY by developers. A lot of their tools and utilities can only be used via cli or api.

While i understand most of it is to aid in development of applications of many varieties, there are a few basic tasks ive come across that should have been fairly simple to do, nut i had to write an entire program myself to make it work.

Not everyone who uses AWS services are coders. Make it a bit easier for the rest of us.

Documentation can also be a bit spotty, but its pretty good overall.

The instance creation and load balancing with the pre configured VM is the best part about it.
The VM configuration can easily be customised and an application can be deployed and managed.
Specifying the security groups with your firewall access requirements is much more easier and manageable.

The only thing to dislike about it is It has so many feature and don’t have a proper documentation so it becomes difficult for the beginner to start and deploy applications.

Low cost, highly customizable to any configuration. A variety of operating systems are averrable and can be bought up at the click of a button. Third party software is also available through amazon marketplace, and most tools can be licensed through AWS and even come preinstalled and preconfigured on EC2 images. It makes building a scalable, high availability architecture an almost trivial task.

Monitoring - AWS offers cloud watch monitoring for EC2 instances, but we still found ourselves reaching out to a third party vendor for a true APM solution for the software running on our EC2 instances. It would be great if we could define what makes our app available to an end user and get reports with an availability percentage and aped score at the end of each month to hand to a client and ensure them that we're meeting our SLA. Right now, we have to go to New Relic for this, which is quite expensive.

Amazon EC2 is a convenient way to spin up an instance of a site for testing purposes by basically mimicking the installation and configuration that you would have on a computer.

I would be nice if the overall process could be a little less painful to set up and to integrate. But overall I think it works really well.

Amazon EC2 has broad choices of setup and configuration depending on your budget. It provides you a lot that you nearly dont need to maintain the instance at all. It also provides you load balancers that you can use it with and you can be sure that your application will scale when needed. If you are using the EC2 with Elastic Beanstalk it will be very easy to deploy and go live.

It is an expensive service full plus. But you can consider that you are not going to need that much of maintenance power so you can decrease your cost by looking from that perspective.

Learning curve is there, apart from there nothing is bad about Amazon EC2 services.

Easy to manage the instances and databases. Really good documentation and it was quiet easy to access to my instances and databases. I was able to quite good manage them. Customer support was awesome they helped me a lot about my problems.

The network and load balancer things was hard to understand. I had problems on them it was not easy to solve loadbalancer side especially

The features and integration options EC2 offers is amazing and unmatchable. I have been a keen user of EC2 since years and I like the elasticity it provides which also gives flexibility to pay as per exact usage.

The auto disable and turn off feature sometimes does not work as expected. I wish we had more automation in place to handle such scenarios.

I love how we can easily customize the virtual machine and how good amazon's customer service is. Our company uses it as a VM and we also run our products on it. It is very good and also has specific compliance with respect to micro industry such as ours.(medical)

I am an EC2 user since almost a decade now. My favourite things are: 1) super quick way to launch an instance on the cloud 2) super easy way to scale the instance in case more resources are required

It is a bit on the expensive side, however if you can commit to 1-3 years you can use a reserved instance and you will save bucks. Or, if you need instances randomly you could use the spot instances which can let you save up to 90%

This is a cloud web server and does exactly what many people want - having a stable machine without the hassle of installing and maintaining your own hardware. We use it as a remote Linux server with cron jobs running on it and collecting data from the web, and producing a database for our clients. We also host our website there.

The best advantage of Amazon EC2 is that we can choose VM according to our requirement and deploy instance on it, and we Pay only when used, so it also reduces the pricing aspect.
It is good in terms of reliability and availibilty.

There are no such disadvantages of Amazon EC2 except that sometimes it goes into deadlock(not frequently), leading to automatic reboot.

For some reason, the p3.16xlarge (8 tesla v100 GPUs) machine is outperformed by p3.8xlarge machine (4 tesla v100 GPUs) (tested on multiple GPU supported model). I was using it for ML training and p3.8xlarge was taking 27 to 28 seconds for an epoch where p3.16xlarge was taking 31 to 32 seconds for an epoch even though it is a larger machine !!!!!! It has twice computing power on paper but that does not reflect in actual performance. I am not sure what might be the reason but paying twice but slower machine does not make any sence. I hope they will fix this soon.

I enjoy using Amazon EC2 mostly for collaborating with my peers, we use this to host and manage resources together. The best part is that I can access the VMs using the remote desktop mobile apps if I am on the go.

The VMs created can be a bit buggy sometimes as more people try to connect to it. Extra configurations needed to be done in order to get a few things working as intended.

Its highly configurable and scalable, so need to learn alot to utilize its features.
Its not a con though but can be made even more user friendly, i liked all its features.

The virtual machines' configurations are very simple and straightforward. The offered quotas are moderate as well.

Inconvénients

DNS configuration is a bit difficult. I had to spend more hours getting around them. You need to be technically inclined to work with their service.

Avantages

Amazon EC2 provides full control of virtual servers to you and it is very suitable if your application process very large amount of data. EC2 provides great scalability which does not cause any connection problems while scaling. It has great documentation and API. I have never faced any instance failure and efforts of maintenance is very less against dedicated servers.
