RDS is awsome!

Avantages

As a sysadmin, I working with many databases and tools related to this. I could say that RDS is a great service, that allows your team to focus on business, letting Amazon manages your database for you.
I also appreciate pay on demand, and the facility to upgrade environments.

Inconvénients

I could say that I like every aspect of this product, but if I should say some negative aspect. I would say that price on America/Sao_Paulo is a bad aspect, but I know that isn't RDS problem but the cost of my country.

Amazon RDS

We have created MySQL instance in RDS and have been using it for 2 years via My SQL, and it had been a smooth and amazing experience in terms of data backup and the service provided by RDS.

Avantages

Amazon RDS allows creating DB instances in a very few clicks with full customization like engine type, size of class required, connectivity, availability, and durability.
Also, all monitoring, eventing, and logs are very handy and displayed on the pictorial representation dashboard.

Inconvénients

Honestly, Amazon RDS fulfills all the use cases for me and I haven't spotted any disadvantage in it.

A reliable relational database in a couple of clicks

I set up RDS (MySQL) with different projects and loads and it never ever failed once in many years.

Avantages

If you're on AWS and you need a relational database, forget about setting it up on your own instances and go straight to RDS: your database will be there in a couple clicks, with high availability, automatic upgrades and backups if you like.

Then you can literally forget about it and just make sure you have enough space for your use case.

Inconvénients

Rarely you may need to go a bit deeper on the hardware side to understand why your database is underperforming, and this is not possible with RDS.

Very fulfilled with the product overall. Would recommend to colleagues.

Increased productivity & allowed more time to spend on activities that will ultimately grow my business

Avantages

I was only personally involved in the front end set-up and implementation of this product but I have to say I was really taken back. In an industry where database management & retention are the largest means of revenue building having a trustworthy product is second to nothing. Amazon RDS with the ability to create and retain multiple databases along with its extremely user friendly, easily teachable platform & myriad of database types available I felt I made the right choice.

Inconvénients

We always look to keep operational costs low when looking at the bottom line so that could be one reason that this product may turn some consumers off but when you look at the prices to hire a consultant in place of a product like Amazon RDS it starts to look more attractive.
