Deputy facilitates employee scheduling

Having a nearby application that makes use of our technology makes it all the more valuable. In particular, the team's knowledge opportunities for Vice customers are fantastic. I consider the time and effort invested learning and mastering Deputy to be worthwhile, even if I am already an advanced user.

Avantages

Other scheduling tools I've tried were either impractical or too difficult to learn and utilize. Deputy is the best scheduling software I have used, and I have tried a few. It's easy to get the hang of, navigate, and succeed in.

Inconvénients

Turns off the door/window alarm. This quality is unnecessary, and the numerous safety precautions might be frustrating. Alter the range of colors available inside the span. The app's request and route customization features are user-friendly.

Deputy Review

My overall experience with Deputy was that it was easy to see my shifts, and clock in when I got to work

Avantages

What I liked most about Deputy is the way that you were able to pick up shifts. It made it very easy to see what was available, and sign up!

Inconvénients

There was nothing that stood out to me as excessively bad about Deputy.

Deputy Review

Overall, I would say this application is a massive help and saves a lot of time and spreadsheets. Easy to use and an organized application.

Avantages

I like the ease of the application and you are able to view your full calendar. It allows you to request time off easily and also keeps tallys of how many days you have left etc...

Inconvénients

I think one of the things I dislike about this application would be the speed of it. Sometimes it runs slow but it's understandable with the number of people using it so no big fuss.

Rostering by AI

Definitely would recommend this for companies that have shift work. The fee is not that expensive especially if it replaces an admin or HR person toiling over complicated rosters for days on end.

Avantages

I felt it was important that our company, or at least my department, moved into the 21st century. We had highly paid managers AND an admin person wasting an entire day or more doing a roster for 10-person teams each month. I tinkered around with it, putting in preferred shifts for each staffer, which busy days in the week we needed more staff, their off day preferences, the minimum amount of time between shifts, how many days a month some of the contract staff worked, etc, then let Deputy do its AI thing and automatically come up with a proposed roster.

You can run it a few times to come up with different schedules, if the first time doesn't look ideal. Then it can be exported IIRC (or copied and pasted) including to excel (because "that's how we do things here" — people were just more used to viewing their roster on a spreadsheet, sigh).

The best part is, once you set most of the parameters, subsequent rostering is a breeze. Users can log in to put in their own leave dates ahead of time. IIRC they can also request among each other to change shifts.

During the trial, tech support was super responsive and even helped customise the backend of my account to allow a certain permutation we needed.

Overall I really liked Deputy. Very regretfully, it was not adopted by my company. It didn't make it past my supervisor level as he felt that there would be management resistance to paying monthly for this service.

Inconvénients

Nothing really. It took time to figure out what parameters had to be input because my test team's roster had 5 different shift types over 7 days a week, and different people had different preferences for their rosters. It wasn't impossible to set Deputy up for this, but it was not straightforward (nothing to do with Deputy).

It also seemed at first like Deputy was more set up for people to go in and grab the shifts they wanted. But I could ignore that and run the scheduler to get rosters done quite quickly after a while.

It could take a bit of time for the automated scheduler to do its thing. But still much faster and fewer errors than human effort.

Outstanding Customer Support

Since implementing deputy towards the end of 2015 in our business, I have worked closely with Jake and Joseph on making the system work with ease and ensure we are using the system to its potential.
Our business has a high turnover of transient employees who work varied hours and days of work which makes it hard for our managers to roster efficiently.
The team at Deputy have worked with us to add custom features which can help with our daily struggles in turn saving us time and money by being able to roster effectively and ensure we are being compliant at each step.
As the Payroll officer for our Australian and New Zealand region, Deputy have allowed me to streamline the fortnightly payroll process. Removed the need for any manual inputting, in turn ensuring we have time for quality checks, within our limited time constraints on payroll day.
We are a fast paced business and this system works extremely well for our managers creating and publishing the rosters, as well as confirming timesheets.

Best Scheduling App Ever

Avantages

I've used the software for over a year now and it makes my day to day life as an independent contractor a breeze. I can grab shifts posted by the managers shortly after they're published and can offer them up or swap them easily if I can no longer work a taken shift. I can request for leave, take a break during the scheduled shift and also view how many hours in total I have for the day, week, month in the schedule section. Their app for phones also allows you to grab, offer and view shifts and you can clock in or out on it. I especially love the seconds feature and the app being able to show me the time in my work's time zone VS mine so I'm never confused.

Inconvénients

It's a little slow when grabbing shifts, like you are unable to just click/accept shifts back-to-back and have to wait like 30 seconds per accepted shift for the page to load and show that you've accepted your shift. There sometimes is also a lag when starting/ending a shift and you have to ensure it was clicked properly or shows you've started/ended after the page finishes loading or you could end up being late or stay clocked in.

Easy and simple to use for myself and my team

I have shared my experiences with other small business owners. It helps me with keeping track of my employee's hours, ask questions when something looks odd and different and the best thing is that it links directly to my payroll software.

Avantages

Flexibility of use on the computer or mobile device. I especially like that the fact that it links directly to my payroll software, no calculations or manual entries required.

Inconvénients

The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't seem very intuitive to schedule shifts with a virtual organization where all of my employees can work within a standard window of hours, take breaks etc. It seems to duplicate their hours if I do put in shifts and I really didn't have time to figure it out so I just don't use this feature.

Wonderful

Avantages

Overall I'm stunned! very easy to use. The price is cheap compared to its counterparts and the overall quality is great.

Inconvénients

It's almost impossible to have a bad experience because their customer service is active and available 24 hours a day.

Utilize to schedule team, keep track of wage expenses.

Avantages

I enjoy utilizing the reports available to keep track of wage expenses. Also ease of scheduling, and keeping track of the team's availability.

Inconvénients

Not currently disliking anything in particular about the software, software is very easy to use and access from anywhere.

Time saving and effective tool.

While using it in organization i had fantastic experience with this marvelous solution.

Avantages

The best employee scheduling tool that is really easy to use. The great ultimate workforce manager. It is web based advance technology. The most thing I liked about Deputy it is really inexpensive than the other products available in the market. If I talk about the feature they are no doubt remarkable. By using it communication becomes easier. I love the team and support services of this tool that is responsive. Interface is superb.

Inconvénients

There is nothing to tell about the cons. It is a little difficult to let the new staff know about the use of this tool. I do not mean that it is not easy. I do say it user-friendly use product. It has the super functionality.

Great Experience

Now we're in control of the working time of our employees with a tool that really helps us to assure everyone is making their time.

Avantages

It's a really complete solution that handles all the requirements for a bussiness like us, the schedulling is very complete and the control fo the employee's timesheets is awesome.

Inconvénients

Not really the software acomplish what is required and is really simple to use, the process of implementing in our offices has been natural without a lot of training.

Easily manage staff schedules

Excellent, you get more than you pay for.

Avantages

Deputy is a fully-featured, inexpensive tool for staff time management. I can alter an employee's schedule and it takes care of notifying them for me. Deputy doesn't stop with staff scheduling though, it has all the features of a team management app -- it lets you assign tasks and keep track on their progress. And it allows for proper team collaboration and communication.

It definitely makes it a lot easier to do all of this from a single app.

Inconvénients

The Android app could be made a bit more featured and easier to use.

Deputy for scheduling shifts

Was difficult to set up and get it working. Had to get help but once it is set up it seems to work nicely.

Easy to see available shifts for the week.

Inconvénients

Can only see available shifts for 1 week. Makes it difficult to plan ahead.

Great for keeping track

Avantages

Keeps track of my hours, how long I worked each day and how many hours I worked in the week.
Lets me know how long I've been on my lunch break.
Easy to use and learn.
Lets me know what days I'm working and not working.
Shows me who is working that day and the next.
Ease of communcation as well.

Inconvénients

Sometimes there are small glitches in the scheduling.

Scheduling is a breeze

Deputy is simple to use, extremely time-saving. I manage the scheduling for 20+ student workers with varying schedules and availabilities and I have been using Deputy for about 3 months.

Avantages

One of the main features I was looking for was the unavailability option. The employee profiles and stress profiles make it so easy to schedule. I like the month-view feature that was added recently.

Inconvénients

Sometimes when dealing with schedule changes I end up with an "Open" shift that has been assigned to an employee, and that employee confirms their shift but the time remains "Open".

As a new payroll/rostering system DEPUTY has, thus far, been a very user-friendly system to use

Quick & Easy to use; Accurate time management tool and data system.

Avantages

Easy Access, user friendly and will be a valuable tool once we go 100% live. Learning was a lot easier than first anticipated and with an extra tutorial early in July, will feel even more confident and knowledgeable about this new tool and asset.

Inconvénients

Haven't come across too many difficulties and, as we are still in the 'infancy' stage of implementation cannot expand further than that.

Access to a modern and agile time and attendance system.

Avantages

Awesome time saving system that has really modernised our business. Really looking forward to using it more & what it will do to help increase efficiencies in my business unit.

Inconvénients

Compass Group NZ Ltd have not released to us the whole package to make us really agile. The package we have is still awesome and better than what we have.

Great Experience
