So there seems to be some glitches with google alerts and I'll notice that it doesn't always catch everything so I'll have to "reset" the alerts. You can imagine that this just gets annoying to have to do this time and time again, but it's the only thing that works for me. Re-collaborating the "search" seems to work well for a certain period of time before I have to "reset" it again.

As with any Google application it is fairly automated once you have it setup and go through the details of implementing making it a little easier than other apps that can do the same thing. It is easy to use through Google and setting up key topics for automated emails is a way to keep an eye on specific industry, trends, hot topics, etc...
