ABBYY FineReader PDF has a great OCR tool that can extract texts from your images or PDFs, it has many languages, especially complicated ones like Arabic. The OCR has good accuracy and good results.

I wish ABBYY FineReader PDF could be smarter, they have a great tool but it is missing smartness. maybe they can include AI in their OCR to convert text in Word or Excel exactly like the original version.

That only sometimes renders a perfect conversion into Ms word that I can use to work, and I mean a file where I don't have to remake any parts of the text or recapture images, etc.

That it changes the page I'm working on just by scrolling, that's tedious. That's solves many of the text by putting it into a floating case box, and that's terrible and cannot be turned off. That many obvious tables are not detected by Abbyy when automatic converting, specially those without visible lines. That it fails to detect structures when converting scanned pages. That the function of detecting the headers and foots almost always fails, but instead it tries to convert as headers parts of the text that are not. Correcting all the above is time-consuming, which is contrary to the purpose of this program. And recently there is a contradiction between doing things in the main window of the OCR editor I'm doing them at the detailed window, for example if I try to select one cell to be treated as an image, it's conflicts the problem if I chose it at the main window or at the detail window, with the first one generally overriding the second. I'm now in Windows 11 the program crashes a lot.

I can create a custom PDF from multiple file formats and send it out to clients very quickly, which is essential, as I am doing everything, besides seeing my clients as a psychotherapist. I create PDF documents that are personalized for each client and they think I have spent days creating it. It helps THEM get better.

It's a little clunky as a pdf reader. I wish there was a lite version that would open when I just want to quickly read a pdf.

When I have to translate documents from PDF , I use ABBYY to convert them into Word and then use one of the specialized machine translation systems. . In this way I have a first draft of the translation I have to do and make all the necessary corrections. I use ABBYY mainly in turning texts in English or in Greek into world. This saves me a lot of time as I don't have to type thousands of words, but only make all the necessary corrections.
