- new data format, I have no friends that use it, but it can export to PSD but i dont know the quality of the format.

Avantages

I have been looking for a good replacement since Adobe discontinued Fireworks. There is a bit a of leap between Fireworks and Photoshop and I've never got on with the transition very well, also I'm not keen on the excessive subscription fee.

However Affinity designer is by far the closest thing to Fireworks on the market (trust me I've tried a lot). Affinity Designer is incredibly easy to use, and no annoying monthly subscription to pay or deal with. I have only just started using this software however I'm lead to believe the cross compatibility with Photoshop is great when working with others living in the past haha. Thanks for some well written software guys!

Inconvénients

Massive negative for me is no "easy" magic wand tool to quickly remove the a single/similar colour background from an image such as white from a logo. I know there is sort of a way of doing in the photo portion of the software however it's hard to use and when you finally get what you want it just doesn't produce a good result around the edges.

I am not skilled at graphic design, but occasionally need to make changes to website graphics or logos, such as when my business moved and our address changed. This tool is very powerful and can edit a variety of file formats. I used it to update PDF stationery that had my old address and it was very easy. It has a long list of features and I'm sure a professional designer would have plenty of tools for most work. Every day users have more than enough.

Such a powerful tool is complex to learn. You need to learn the concept of layers and how to use the many tools. There are tutorials and videos to help you learn.

Avantages

You can create logos, business cards, images for marketing use, or for websites, and of course it allows you to retouch photos. The quality is amazing, the finish product is good for web use as for printing. I did our business cards and they looked great. We created a bunch of images for our website and they look amazing. Most of the tools are easy to get them to work, you can naturally tell what they're for and how to use them.

Inconvénients

Some tools were a little hard to get the hang of it (if you're not a professional) and it takes some time to learn how to use them properly, but once you get it, your images will have a professional look.

Avantages

This application can be used for any type of graphic design and comes closest to being a replacement for Adobe Illustrator. The great news with this, is however, that there is no subscription fee. It is buy once (and a very reasonable price at that), use forever. It has almost all features you are familiar with and can be used for sketching/prototyping to production-grade design work.

Inconvénients

The people at Serif have made some intentional changes to the GUI, which makes the first few hours abit tiresome trying to find each feature. Once that learning period is over, however, it is just as responsive as Adobe Illustrator.

Affinity Designer is light, fast and new.
When I say it's light is because it's much lighter than it's competitors and updates are not a headache.
Is faster than others trying to do simple tasks. Some products I have used are lagging when trying to do a font search.
It's new, and that it's the best feature of all. Affinity Designer came out to the market as a fair competitor to Illustrator. Oh, yes...it also works with Creative Cloud files.

Inconvénients

Full of bugs, I hope they could fix them soon.
It doesn't have a great community online (YouTube videos, discussion blogs, etc), it's not as popular as Illustrator or Corel Draw.

One time price that pays for itself in a matter of months when compared to Adobe Illustrator. It has all the features that I need for graphic design and vector graphics.

I like to point out that it is much simpler than its direct competitor, Adobe Illustrator.
If you need to make a simple vector drawing, Affinity Designer is probably your best option.
If you come from Illustrator, adapting to Affinity will be a piece of cake.

As much as I like what Affinity Designer is doing in the world of graphic design, it is no less true that if you have experience with Illustrator you end up missing features.
For example, the appearance palette, live painting, the perspective work environment or the multiple options when it comes to creating custom brushes.

I absolutely love the quality of software provided for such a low price. For a fraction of the cost of high-end competitors, this software offers almost every function and then some. The included fonts are awesome. All the brush options are awesome. The ability to purchase new brush packs is awesome. No complaints at all!

While there is really nothing bad to say, the support/forums still need some development. This is fairly new software though, so I expect the support/community to only get better.

When compared to the ubiquitous Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer is a more affordable vector software and the learning curve is minimal. If you're familiar with the Adobe Suite you will recognise tools and elements that are quite similar to Illustrator and even Photoshop, so getting started should be really straightforward. It also allows you to import Illustrator files, which works surprisingly well.

I'm thoroughly impressed with how stable and enjoyable Affinity Designer is to use. It's extremely powerful. I absolutely love that one can use this solution to create scalar AND vector images. The export options are fantastic, and the program offers epic value relative to its price.

I wish there were instant support, but given its competitive price point, I can absolutely understand why that may not be feasible.

Affinity Designer is fast and snappy to work with. It supports the importation of Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator files with text support. This makes it easier for me to work with previous employee's designs as they are in Illustrator. The price is also one time and I get regular updates to the software.

I have not yet found any problems with Affinity Designer. It works well and fast.

I love the vector based tools of this App. I used to be an avid user of Fireworks and when Adobe decided to kill it I kept looking for a good replacement that offers the best of both worlds: pixel based design and vector. So far Affinity Designer covered both and now I even feel more comfortable using it than I ever did in Fireworks.

Some text tools are still rudimentary but every update keeps getting better. For example they only caught up with vertical alignment on the last update and I'm sure they'll keep adding more details in the future.

Affinity Designer has 99% of what I need from a vector editing tool. The UI is easy to work with and some things are actually easier to do with Designer than Illustrator.

I wish the expand stroke function was more accurate. The results are inconsistent and makes the feature essentially unusable since you cannot trust what it will output.

Honestly, the price attracted me to this software, but I've since found that the quality is better than even much more known and higher priced competitor's programs.

I love that Affinity Designer works so well with Affinity Photo (another WONDERFUL program) and Affilnity Publisher.

It's easy to use when first you figure out its logic. And you can reuse "templates" which will save you tons of time.

Inconvénients

The only hiccup I've noticed so far is that sometimes, when you install an update, then you can't start the program. Something goes wrong. You'll have to restart your computer and install the update again, and then it works. (At least, that has worked for me every time.)

Price/Value is crazy for this product. As a Web Developer the need to open AI files and that is all was tough to justify the larger Adobe CC cost. So when Designer came out, the EPS/AI support ability to open, modify and export as SVG was a life saver! I barely scratch the surface of the potential of this product but even as a non artistic technical person I found great use from this product!

The learning curve of any vector product is rough. It really takes time to learn the features and because it is often directly compared to it's adobe counterpart , you may have a tough time switching.

I only started using this recently, but not as often. I used it because a friend installed it for me. It was like an upgrade to paint and downgrade to photoshop. It has great features. The big plus is that its simple to use!

I love it ease of use. I'm not an artist by any measure. Yet, I could still use this software to fulfil my professional needs: to make illustrations and tweak the visuals of plots for research papers.

Inconvénients

It lack some features that would be useful for me. For instance, it doesn't support parametric fonts.
I also would love if it had support for mathematical expressions, but I realize that this would be too much.
And finally, when I open a PDF, it seems to always vectorise all text. That's really undesirable.

The software is very easy to use, especially on the iPad, it allows me to create images for my clients and that at a lower cost because it is to be purchased only once without subscription.

Well Ultimately, my main use is for vector Art and files, which is the ability to never loose clarity in designs with whatever you're working on. Vector files stay perfect in quality no matter how how far you zoom in within the program, which makes your final export in the desired resolution look wonderful!

The product's biggest tool is the user, so some things take getting use to, like navigating hidden tools and filters. Although it's not major for me, the User Friendly system could use a step up, but when there's so many tools and options to get the same results, it makes figuring out certain things a task for others until you get the hang of it.
