Affinity Designer

Avantages

Ever since Adobe switched to their monthly payments, I've been a little bitter. They're the industry standard and I couldn't find a suitable replacement. I've been very impressed by Affinity Designer, though. The cost is low, the functionality is almost the same. I haven"t been using it enough to completely say I'm ready to give up Adobe, but so far I'm amazed at hoe much this software can do.

Inconvénients

I don't have any complaints about this software, although it feels weird to be working outside of the Adobe Suite.

I am occasionally in need of a design program for websites and logos. I could never justify the cost of Adobe software. Affinity Designer gives me all the power I need to do what I need to do at a fraction of the cost.

Like any professional design software it is complex and can be difficult if you are not using it every day.

Avantages

This application, unlike some of its competitors, is very affordable and offers a 'buy once, use forever' option. In terms of features and style, it seems similar to Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator.

Inconvénients

There is a learning curve to using this software properly. However, if you are familiar with one of the applications listed above, you should be able to dive right in and create something nice quite quickly.

For my use to create a few icon for my own application, I didn't find anything I don't like.
Maybe it would have been nice to have the possibility to export the icons for all sizes for Android and iOS without having to configure it all manually.

The Affinity line of products is truly amazing. I use Designer as well as Photo and I can easily say that I many never go back to Adobe products again. One time purchase, not a recurring fee. Even their mobile apps are excellent.

Inconvénients

Some of the workflows are a bit different than what you might be use to in Illustrator. That being said, there are some shortcuts that I feel should have been used in the Adobe apps we've all used.

is not a heavy software to use. And ha a higher level of improvement and refinement against Illustrator. PRICE is the best for your money.

Is not that intuitive, and you really need to learn it and its curve is long, so be patient. No integration with PANTONE.

Nothing!!! just so good... missing some features which is identifying PMS colours or other attributes of an object but I am sure they will add these in time.... and you can check PMS on the internet just a bit of a hassle....but why keep paying for illustrator or other expensive designer software when this is simply the best at the best price

The fact that Affinity Designer is the best vector-based drawing software on the market right now and so incredibly affordable is outrageously great. The interface is very intuitive and well-organized, and super easy to use and get a handle on quick. There's everything to love about this software.

Inconvénients

There is no auto trace. However, there's an app for $5 in the Apple store that does the job just fine.

Affinity designer has a lot of capabilities and can do almost all of what you can do with Adobe Illustrator. The shortcuts are similar to the Adobe products and Affinity makes it easy for the files to be compatible with all their other software

The program has a lot of functions but if switching from Adobe products, it can be a bit frustrating because the commands are located in different locations or there might be different ways to access the commands. It's also not as intuitive as other programs to use but not that difficult to learn

Inconvénients

As it offers a lot of functionality, it is not as optimized as Illustrator for connected workflows.
Adobe offers a pretty good sync option which lets you make changes in real time between two related Applications.
This is only relevant if you use Illustrator with After Effects for example.

Avantages

Excellent design software. In most cases it will be a great replacement for Adobe CC tools. It's powerful yet affordable. I like its pricing politics, that you pay just once and use it forever. No subscriptions, no monthly payments, no hassle :)

Inconvénients

Despite of all its pros it doesn't contain some advanced features like Illustrator or Photoshop. In addition it much harder to find learning materials to improve your workflow in Affinity Designer.

I love the low consume of my laptop resources, the growing resources and regular updates to meet the industry standards.

Its very strong, but not complete, maybe needs an open plugin frameworks that can be extended by other developers.

Great tool to create vector images, has everything built-in and comparable to other popular software on the market. Able to open templates from Adobe.

There are times when we need to deal with vector illustrations. Adobe Illustrator was considered and then I found Affinity Designer. It is a reasonably priced alternative and offers all of the features we need for graphic design. This isn't a subscription based software, so after you try it you can buy it. Before purchasing this software we were hiring third-party designers to do the tasks that can now be done with Affinity Designer. Saves us money and time waiting for projects to be done.

Inconvénients

There's a lot to it and not not as intuitive as other software programs that I have used. But the good news is there is a book you can purchase Affinity Designer Workbook which offers step by step instructions.

I only had a small project I needed to do and didn't need the full functionality of Photoshop. Affinity designer was quick and easy to use and helped me get my project done in record time.

I wish there was a basic free version, rather than just a free trial. But people have to make money somehow so I get it :P

Despite being a new software and that had an important award in the design area, there are still some tools used by designers, such as meshes and clipboard organization.

Such a great product to help with professional looking designs and photos. It can do a lot of cool functions and effects.

Takes a lot of learning and being very detail oriented and also the functions differ between Apple and PC products so you have to be aware of what platform you are on.

It is a software with many features and very easy to use. The creation of lines, points and nodes is very quick and easy to do, it is relatively inexpensive software compared to its competitors. It has keys and resources very similar to other software which makes learning easy, the mask features are complete and simple to use. The visualization of the outline without the colors is a positive point that I have not seen in other software and that this one has and is very good.

The brush feature lacks a little bit of improvement. The use of plugins and filters could be better, it would be good if we could import the dozens of filters or plugins as in other software.

It has a lot of awesome features. I can work with Illustrator files, so the transition from one to another was good because I kept all my files.

Create vectors and edit photos all in one software at a very affordable price. This is a great alternative for adobe photoshop, This software is really light weight when compared to adobe. There are many cool features like live edit your output files too get edited what a cool thing. Zoom in to one million and it doesn't take slow down your system a bit. At this low price this is the only software a designer should have.

Zero I didn't find any negatives in this software almost perfect for what I use.

It's a great alternative for Photoshop. If you're a marketer using Canva mostly and you'd like to try something more advanced but no so expensive - Affinity Designer will be perfect for you.

I'm not very familiar with many design tools so some things for me were very unintuitive. I couldn't find some basics options at the beginning but with some research I could do it. And I guess if you're little more experienced you won't have so many problems :)

This is a great alternative to illustrator. The affinity tools are easy to learn and similar to the Adobe suite. So much more cost effective as well.

I used the trial version of Designer, and I was taken aback at how much Serif has packed into this and their other two software families. They are not only compatible with Adobe products but also are extremely affordable for small business and individuals without a subscription or large price tag.

Overall it's a solid program and I have very little to not like about it. Of course, it's not on the same level as adobe but it can certainly​ gain a few pointers for them if they wanted to level the competition.

I find Affinity Designer most useful when dealing with font files and icon sets. It offers a whole arsenal of useful tools for layered and vector graphics.

Affinity Designer feels much less intuitive to me than Photoshop and other programs in the Adobe Suite, particularly when editing photos and other image files.

The big thing that Affinity is capitalizing on is the aversion of some people to the subscription model of Photoshop. So that's nice that once you purchase Affinity you get to own it. It is also impressive that Affinity can do most of the stuff that Photoshop does.

No batch processing. Considering that Affinity costs about 1/2 of the price of Photoshop and Lightroom and Affinity will probably come out with new versions every year that require purchase, you aren't really saving that much if you are spending any serious amount of time on your photos.

Very high precision in drawing that is important when you draw small images like icons. Also, it has a bunch of adjustable primitives that often can save some time.

This program doesn't have is a Mesh Wrap tool. But, as has been promised, it will be in the future versions.

I started using this program because lightroom would not read my nikon z files. I do overall like the editing and easy to follow functions.

Inconvénients

This product is closer to photoshop, I was looking for an alternative to lightroom. The biggest drawback is the multiple tabs you have to open to edit your work. I like to copy my presets to the rest of my files and tweak them individually after.

Can’t beat the quality of this program, and on top of that, the price is an absolute steal!
Affinity has tremendously helpful video tutorials on their site for all levels of experience in using design programs.

I love how Affinity has changed the market by putting out an Illustrator Competitor for Vector Graphics. It seemed very familiar to the AI/Adobe environment and played nicely with their file format.

I still feel like the software lacks a complete feature-to-feature set for Adobe but understandably so as it's a new market for them. I also was unable to see how this integration played with a tablet device of my own like an Ipad.

If you just want to pay once and are looking for alternative for Adobe Illustrator, don't look further. Affinity Designer should be your choice. It has all you mostly need and is pretty similar to Illustrator.

It's still new software and has more bugs and small errors, but they are not that often and annoying.

The layout is smooth and effective. It works really well and was not hard to figure out. I had to google some suggestions but other than that it was great. Very small learning curve.

Needs more typography tools. No 24/7 support but I can find information that I need on Google and on YouTube.
