Revit provides great cooperative capabilities, which enables us to distribute the burden of work according to the specializations with high efficiency, as well as we can involve external advisers at any time to participate in the design or amendment of some parts. Revit is exactly that, a tool. It's there when you need it as long as you know how to use it. It's been an important part of our business in landscape construction & development. The greatest part of Revit is that its integrated with the rest of the Autodesk products. I can swap back and fourth from AutoCad, to Revit, and render it in a different program with Photoshop. It can be used as a standalone tool but it's best integrated with the whole suite.

Revit is very intuitive to use but at times it's easy to get stuck when you're new and they don't have as much built in training as some of the other programs.

What I like about the software is that it is very user-friendly and very straightforward to use. I have been an Autodesk Revit user for more than 7 years now and I have also used and explored other 3D authoring software, attended training and product presentations and I find the Autodesk Revit software easier to learn for beginners and the user interface is simple and complicated. The processes and workflow for other 3D authoring software are mostly long and complicated which can be confusing to new users and beginners which is I think is the key reason most companies in our industry prefer to use the Autodesk Revit software.

What I like the least about this software is that it is not backward compatible which is sometimes troublesome during the start of the project because Revit files that are saved by the latest version of Revit cannot be opened by the older versions which sometimes creates problems when the parties involved are using different versions.

Right away I saw that this tool was more purpose-based than all the other tools I've used before which were more broad-based, so I was really happy with that. Multiple users can use the same file at the same time. This software is just simply GOLDEN!!

I did feel at first like I bit off way more than I could chew on but as the weeks progressed, I couldn't wait to dive in and learn something new about it because when it started to gradually make sense to me, there was no looking back after that. Revit was all I needed from then onwards.

- Revit LT lacks (among other more important features) a tool to modify shape of a floor. Designing a 3d flat roof is almost impossible and your best bet is to draw flat lines (which defeats the purpose of BIM model)
- certain families and certain corrections in the model will cause a disappearance of spot dimensions or regular dimensions. THe built-in error window will display something like "43 error" but you will never be able to locate all deleted annotations.
- lack of quality content built in the software. You can create all the families (objects in model) by yourself but it takes time. So it becomes necessary that you have a designated person drawing specific families used in your company or you can depend on 3rd parties for that. The families that come with Revit are basic and often need adjustment
-material schedules are not to be dependent upon. A single wall will have the same area of material that is both inside and outside but that is minor. If a wall is cut or joined with another object the volume will be double counted. At the same time any concrete elements in the wall will not be substracted from the wall material volume. Its best to avoid said schedules.
- the tools for site planing are basic and often insufficient. A simple road on a slope can be a problem (unless you divide the plane into triangles)
- No autosave function and "model hasn't been saved in a while" prompts. The save can take a couple of seconds sometimes but automatic would be better

Honestly revit has nothing much to worry as a basic 3d modeling software,but it of course requires some time to master but at the end of the day its worthy. And also it demands a computer with high functioning capability. And also I have noticed that we can not input any pdf formets into it. And there is no reterograde compatibility since the older version had no cloud feature. As my last point revit predominantly focuses on structural elements only I wish if this improves further to help the designers as well.

The best part is that it is a multi user worksharing software by the help of which your whole team can work on a single project. You just need to save the file as central file.

You can make a template and save it and use it anytime when your start a protect so that you not need to set the project standards like text font, leaders, dimensions style, layout etc each time. Just you can open the template and start working.

Last but not the list, revit allows you to create different parameter for the object that helps to add necessary information of the object. The information provided can be extracted by help of scheduling.

Although really good, revit does not allow for newer versions of the software to open files from older versions except if the file is upgraded to the new version which sometimes data can be lost. You can't open newer files in older versions and there is no option for a downgrade like the upgrade.Also, the cost of the software is high. As much as they offer it free for students and educators, if you don't fall in this category it can be quite expensive to purchase especially for those who probably don't earn a lot.

What I think it could be fix in this software is to find and easy way to apply location or sun position for projects that have a rear topography or needs/want a sun/shadow projection.

Other thing is when we have more than 2 views open at the same time have the option to minimize which ever we want, this last version doesn't have that option anymore and it was a good one when working in big projects

Avantages

Revit is one of the most versatile building design and modeling software. It can literally design any kind of building infrastructure with the same precision as an architect does. Revit is the foundational software for Building Information Modelling. It provides us features like parametric modeling and smart object import. It basically reduces all the repetitive drafting work in building design. It provides features and a basis for Performance analysis.

Inconvénients

When it comes to creating a complex geometrical model or any model with lots of curves, Revit handling becomes difficult. Using Revit for complex shape modeling is difficult. Revit does not support high end, performance analysis tools. lt has its own add ons which do not give accurate and precise results. You need to export the model to any other software and perform the energy analysis.

A product that integrates several functionalities with other software and represents a large part of the BIM market.

I didn't find points that made me give up using it. I consider it a very useful professional tool.

Avantages

Revit works well with DWG files which are the industry standard. It also is a solid BIM program with most of the expected features. It is relatively straight forward to create good looking 2D drawings. The collaboration tools are useful.

Inconvénients

The internal management of sheets could be better. This has lead to issues with batch printing and sheet numbering.
