As a remote teacher, this is as good as it gets. Real-time assessment/feedback, usability is top notch, built-in questions are great, and the clean look and design is just a dream to use.

Inconvénients

This is a costly product. You can be sure you get what you pay for, however.

Nearpod is an amazing repository of lessons for all grades. it includes a great digital citizenship module as well. It is very easy to use and integrates with many LMS'.

Nearpod is expensive. We did have one bad experience with a presenter, however, our sales rep worked diligently to make it right.

Avantages

Nearpod is excellent for creating interactive and engaging lessons. It takes slide presentations up considerable notches by allowing you to easily add elements such as polls, quizzes, videos and games. Lessons can be delivered live or set for student paced so students my view and interact on their own. It has been indispensable for distance learning.

Inconvénients

The embedded quiz game is more suited for younger students. Otherwise, no complaints, it has continued to evolve and improve.

Avantages

Nearpod helps teachers easily use the 'flipped classroom' model of teaching in an engaging way. I love how students can pace themselves through a lesson and I love all the lessons available on the site. Some are made by Nearpod and some are shared by other teachers. It is easy to upload an existing presentation or to create your own in the platform. I also like that students don't need a sign in to participate in this site. They have so many logins for different things already.

Inconvénients

Sometimes the software can freeze and then students must start the activity over. It would be great if there was a save option.

Avantages

I love that this in an interactive software. I love that I can put my slides from a powerpoint on it and make them extraordinary. I love that each kid can work on the slides at their own place and move the things on the slides around. I love how hands on it is and how it can also be used as a self sufficient learning station.

Inconvénients

I do not really have any complaints about this software. It has honestly made my life easier and my lessons more fun. I enjoy this software and am so glad it is out there for us to use.

The open ended questions engage students in virtual learning. This helps teachers check for understanding in a scholars work. This also allows teachers to look for any misconceptions scholars may have.
Another feature I like is the collaboration and virtual field trips.
The collaboration option lets students post their thoughts on a specific topic. This shows scholars thoughts, ideas, predications, etc.

Inconvénients

You need to take time to learn this app. There are many useful features; but you need to set aside time to learn it.

Nearpod can be a great tool to help teachers keep students engaged, and gamify learning, while providing data on how the students are doing/learning.

Inconvénients

Nearpod is a great tool, but too expensive to use. There's a free version, but it was not as "fun", and a little cumbersome to use.

Avantages

There are so many features I love about Nearpod: 1. It’s easy for students to access and use, 2. I can create in Nearpod or import from google drive, my computer, etc... 3. I can add audio recordings on the slides, and my OVERALL favorite is 4. IT HAS ITS IWN INTERACTIVE FEATURES FOR STUDENT ENGAGEMENT. You can easily create games, collaborative boards, quizzes, etc...

Inconvénients

What I like least about Nearpod includes: 1. I cannot change the font style, 2. The file upload size is a bit small, 3. I would like to be able to save a game to put in multiple presentations without recreating them each time.

Avantages

I love that it's like google slides, in that I can present easily and quickly. But it's got a lot of great features like quizzes, and fun activities that I can have my students participate in. Easy for them to log in wherever, whenever!

Inconvénients

It is sometimes hard to find the items I need. And sometimes parts of it, like race to the top, don't work on our network. Which is sad!

What I like most about Nearpod is it allows me to control the pace of the lesson, whether the students are physically in front of me, or they are at home

The only thing I did not like about Nearpod is that it is somewhat tedious to add in all of the activities and added features

Nearpod is basically google slides or powerpoint, except the main focus is getting the students engaged in the lesson. Through "Activities" students use their own laptops to responds to questions.

They are also constantly updating!

You can also take all the google slides that you have made, and add Nearpod activities into it.

Inconvénients

There are a few things that are just frustrating. For example, if I drag and drop an image, I may be told "This image is too big". It is 2020, can this not be auto sized?

The library of resources already made is outstanding. It is also a great way to keep students engaged with either a self-paced or instructor-paced lesson.

Creating your own nearpod could be more user friendly.

Avantages

I love how many different lessons are available for all grade levels and all topics. It allowed me to find specific resources that meet the various needs of the students in my classroom. I love the ease of assigning these lessons OR using them to guide my teaching. The live version to use allows you to be in control of each slide and when it moves from one to the other, I love this function because it keeps my students on track and focused while allowing me to manage their engagement and use.

Inconvénients

One thing I did not specifically like is that some of the lessons really should only be done as a live version but they still had the option to have the students complete it on their own. This caused confusion with specific sections that needed to be discussed aloud or done together. I think it would have been helpful if there was a way of knowing this beforehand.

Students love it. Teachers love it. Easy tool for admin to observe classes.

This add-on to google slides is perfect. Scholars can interact with the lessons, watch videos, do virtual labs, draw, you name it! It’s the perfect way to bring what was happening in the classroom into the virtual space.

I wish you could copy the slides when you make them in google slides. Nearpod slides can’t be copied and pasted the way traditional slides can.

Nearpod has improved SO much over the past five years and really takes the feedback from teachers to heart. In large classrooms, it can sometimes be hard to hear from all students and Nearpod truly gives every one a voice! From polls to controlling the pace of the presentation, to quizzes and drawing, there are some many features to help bring content to life, while checking for understanding along the way.

Inconvénients

Sometimes it is not clear what features are included with a premium subscription and what are not. Users are given a free trial when creating their account, and I think this can be misleading as users may then believe these features are also included.

Let me start by saying I am such an advocate for Nearpod! Want a student centered lesson? Nearpod! Want room for collaboration and student involvement? Nearpod! Want student paced lessons and immediate scores on quizzes? Nearpod! I also love that there are lessons already made you can buy if you're feeling lazy or don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Inconvénients

What I don't like about this is the price - with the free version you only are able to save a few lessons, and don't have access to most of the interactive aspects. When I had a school account, it was amazing! But unfortunately, I don't think it is worth the high price. The free version is great!

This platform is a great option for delivering presentations to students and engaging them at high levels. One of the key things we must do as educators is take data to determine if students are learning what we need them to during a given lesson. This platform lets you embed these opportunities, providing the teacher immediate data and feedback from all students in a digital format.

Inconvénients

This lends itself best to an iPad environment in my opinion. Our switch to Chromebooks has made this less of the ideal situation for our students and staff.

Avantages

Nearpod has so many features to engage students. Time to Climb, Virtual Field Trips, 3D Stimulation, Fill in the Blank are just a few of the wonderful content Nearpod has to offer. This is a must for teachers!

If you are a Silver user, you have only have 100 MB of storage.

Kindergarteners love Nearpod because of its many features and interactive usage. They think it’s amazing because they can go on virtual tours and interact with the activities. For teacher use, it allows us to control the pacing and it’s flexible enough to change activities.

I find it difficult to design my own content. I rely heavily on the bank of activities.

What’s not to like? As a sub teacher it’s east for me to hop right in.

It makes boring powerpoints more interactive. You can engage students by asking questions throughout the lesson and see their responses on your screen. There is also a library of pre-existing lessons ready to use.

The pre-made lessons didn't really fit my needs and creating your own Nearpod presentation from scratch is extremely time consuming. During the lesson it is difficult to go back and forth between the presentation and checking student responses.

This is great for instructional design as well as assessment and handling classroom management issues on a daily basis.

The free version has very limited space. We had to purchase the gold version to be able to utilize its full potential.

I am able to take content in my area and share it with students digitally, and use it as an "Electronic Worksheet". I can share it, use it as a digital tool for clarification, grade it and return it to the students.

At first, it was hard to find where the saved documents were located. I asked for some help, created my teacher account, and that made it much easier.

I like that I can hold ALL my students accountable for participating in my lessons. Often, when teachers ask questions in class, a few hands raise or the teacher calls on a particular student, but not all students are heard. Nearpod gives all students a voice.

Inconvénients

I import Google Slides into Nearpod and I dislike having to redo the process when I want to change something on a slide. There is no editing access to the slides once it is imported into Nearpod.

I love that I can convert my lessons as a teacher! I had so many lesson plans in a google slide form I was able to input into nearpod and make much more interactive for learning and growth.

I would the the software to have fillable charts that can be inputted and more generic math features to help with lessons (fillable charts, equations, algebra, geometry)

There were prepared lessons that fit my curriculum My students (early childhood) LOVED the engagement of the lessons, especially the quizzes, and drawing elements.

To create lessons, it took took too much time. It wasn't easy to copy and paste from my personal or internet files. There were too many switches to get to the right object to insert into my lessons.

It allows teachers to build experiences, such as a personalized lesson on a standard, that provide students with choice and voice. For instance, students can go through a lesson at their own pace, choose a lesson that's a good fit for them, and/or choose the type of work they complete to demonstrate proficiency via Nearpod lessons!

I wish there was more robust SIS integration.

With Nearpod, you can create a series of slides with so many engaging activities. For example, I created one with a video, the next slide was a fill in the blank notes page, the next slide was a matching activity, and the last slide was a short quiz. This is perfect for my remote students. Everything is in one spot. My favorite feature is The program grades the quiz for you. All you have to do is pull up the report.

I like that students are engaged in the lesson by using a iPad which is a preferred medium for them.

I like that I can see student responses immediately for ongoing formative assessment.

This software provides an alternate method for a lesson. It is extremely easy to work with. I love that you don't have to start a presentation from scratch if you already have a powerpoint presentation. All you have to do is upload it. I also love that you are able to use it for an assessment.

Inconvénients

The only con I could say is that once a powerpoint is uploaded onto Nearpod, you are not be able to make changes to a page. You have to make the changes to the actual powerpoint presentation and then reload it onto Nearpod.

Nearpod is a comprehensive and easy to use software. In the current educational setting it opens the opportunity to bring the virtual classroom to life with virtual field trips, individual quiz games, and it adapts well to all age groups. It gives the educator control that is a normal part of the classroom by allowing the instructor/teacher to view and control comments and posts before the other students see.

Inconvénients

You do not need to be extremely tech savvy to use this software. The most significant challenge is the fact parents and students did not have adequate time to train and use the software before classes went live.

There are a ton of published Nearpod lessons waiting for you to use, edit, and share. It's fairly easy to use when you're ready to create your own too!

I like how there are so many ways to use Nearpod. You can make your own lessons, or use premade lessons. There are many different types of lessons as well, with different modes of learning.

I love this educational tool. I teach a course about college and career readiness. This allows my students to go on virtual field trips to see a variety of colleges! Since we do not have the capability to physically complete all of these field trips, the virtual experience opens up my students eyes to the world around them.

It does take some teaching. Students may not be able to just jump right in and figure it out.
