To clarify. With Ahrefs, you pay for the best-in-class SEO data in the industry. More specifically:

> #1 SEO crawler worldwide
> Largest live backlinks database (35 Trillion)
> Largest US keyword database (4.9 Billion)

Running such a complex infrastructure involves high costs for crawling, parsing, and indexing the Internet 24/7. But also operational costs for maintaining it.

So in essence, the price is directly proportional to the amount of data you retrieve AND our own internal cost of storing data for 12+ years.

On the same note, the API will remain only on the enterprise plan as it consumes computing resources. But we are in talks to allow users to test it for free websites - like wordcount.com.

Be sure to check out the latest filters we've added in Keywords Explorer:

- Lowest DR: sort keywords that have a ranking position in the top results, but a lower DR than the one you set
- Target: check rankings positions for any URL, while doing keyword research

As for the search volumes, we're always updating them. The last ones are available till January 2023.

Re: AI, we do have that functionality in Keywords Explorer! :) Not only can you get AI prompted suggestions for keywords, but you can also use it to translate keywords across multiple languages.

As a long-time user, you're aware that we haven't raised prices on our product in a long time. Unfortunately, the previous Legacy limits and pricing don't reflect the value users get from our current products, making a pricing adjustment necessary.

We have not updated our pricing for Legacy users in 9 years. During that time, we have added significant functionality to our product, technological costs have increased, and the internet has become significantly larger, requiring more resources to crawl.

Unfortunately, all of this means we can no longer support the pricing and limits of Legacy accounts with significant usage.

But we fully agree we could have communicated all of this in a better way. We sincerely apologize for making you feel like you haven't been a valued customer.

Good to see you back!

Indeed, our pricing has changed since last year (March 2022, to be more specific).

With the old plans, the main features were available to everyone—regardless of the plan they were on. This meant large agencies paid the same subscription price as a one-person SEO (often a beginner).

The best way to differentiate usage was by how many "data requests" each user was pulling. Hence "credits" were born.

Credits get consumed when accessing reports and requesting new data from all our core tools, Dashboard, Alerts, and standalone tools (like Batch Analysis).

Site Audit and Rank Tracker DO NOT consume credits.

However, we are very transparent about them.

The monthly subscription, plus the plan additions are all listed on our:

- Pricing page
- Billing page
- In-app welcome message
- Visual live counter (in the header, next to your account name)
- Limits & usage page under Admin Settings

If you want to save on credits while doing kw research, I recommend searching them in bulk.

As for the pricing pain point, we're improving our product and our ability to crawl the entire web: https://ahrefs.com/big-data. Hence prices need to follow along to make our business sustainable.

To give you a greater understanding of the costs involved, our data center costs in Singapore alone have run over $400M in the past 3 years (https://tech.ahrefs.com/how-ahrefs-saved-us-400m-in-3-years-by-not-going-to-the-cloud-8939dd930af8).

Despite this, we still get that the new system might not be working for everybody (including yourself), hence we apologize for that.
