The thing I liked the most about 1Password is its availability on most of the popular platforms. It is available on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and even on Linux. That helps a lot when you have an Organisation with different devices. Also, the user interface is very minimal and straightforward and easy to use. It also offers high end security solutions like 2 factor authentication and many others.

Inconvénients

It is one those software where there aren't many things going against it. The only downside to this great app is the unavailability of a free plan. Also, options for sharing is not available in personal plans.

The feature set and security policies of 1Password were the main motivation behind choosing 1Password over Lastpass and Dashlane. Also, the team pricing of 1Password was very handy.

Avantages

I love the credential management and sharing that we are able to use as a company. I am able to share my logins for our secure sites with colleagues and never have to worry about important data being leaked or misused.

Inconvénients

The UX can be a bit confusing when it comes to managing/finding existing passwords and credentials for various logins within my account. I often get lost.

This software allows all of our users to securely create, store, and share passwords in a convenient and responsible way.

For less tech savvy users, this software can be difficult to navigate at times. Some users may have difficulty storing their secret phrase that opens their personal vaults.

The most impactful for me is being able to unlock it with my fingerprint on my mac, or with FaceID on my iPhone. Being able to have both a professional account and a personal account seamlessly integrated is key for me.

Sometimes the chrome extension doesn't work, but it usually just means I need to update chrome, or restart my computer.

Avantages

I've been using 1password only for a week but I love it already. I had no idea how comfortable it is to manage your passwords like this, not to mention security (It was not really safe for me, since i had like 2-3 passwords to all pages before). This software remembers and automatically enters my passwords to web sites and applications on all devices - the only thing I need to worry about is creating and remembering one solid, main password. What's even better - I don't even need this password in the mobile app - my fingerprint lines are enough.

This program is able to operate the password generator perfectly, adapting them to the requirements of websites. Apart from the fact that it is convenient, 1password is extremely safe. It also has the ability to audit our secret data. The program checks how long ago I changed my password. Information about the security breach is also monitored, so that I will be able to keep up to date in case my login parameters have leaked and whether they should be updated.

What is important, the program also offers a lot of tools that further increase security, including the function of analyzing the strength of the password and the website to which Ilog in (in terms of potential gaps).This software can also, for example, let the user know that a defect has been detected on the site he is logging into, and that it is recommended to change the password.

Inconvénients

Not gonna lie, 1password is quite expensive compared to other password managers.
Nevertheless, I think that it is worth paying the price for comfort and safety.

1Password is hugely valuable for managing logins, users, and passwords for all of the tools our remote team uses and shares. It functions as a single spot to get access to whatever account for whatever product you may need that day. It also is incredibly useful for saving different types of user accounts for testing different experiences within our product.

Inconvénients

It can be a little bit hard to find things once you start having lots of different vaults and logins. This is likely more of an issue of a scale though rather than 1Password's fault.

It has from the very beginning integrated very well with my Mac products. I can seamlessly switch between my Mac and iPhone and access my passwords. The FaceID compatibility is a nice touch. I can store secure notes, passwords for all my websites, combinations to locks, credit cards numbers, etc. This information is all stored LOCALLY, which is very important to me. My vault is local only to my machines and isn't stored in the cloud where it might be more vulnerable to hacking. The password generator is a nice feature.

Inconvénients

It would be nice if the password generator was a little easier to use. I can't tell you how many times I've updated a password using the generator and then somehow lost the new password (and 1Password didn't save the old one). The fill and click feature is also a little unreliable. Sometimes the forms will fill in automatically and then click to the next page. Sometimes they won't and will have to be filled in twice. It's a minor gripe, but it could be improved.

I started using this tool over 10 years ago. At the time I was making a transition from Windows to the Mac. I had already been using a password manager for a long time and 1Password seemed to be the best option for the Mac. Over the years I continued to use the standalone plugin on my single computer. I have recently transitioned to the option that keeps all my devices synced and I can't imagine ever going back.

Inconvénients

There were times when I had to get various versions to remain compatible with certain OS changes. Some of the newer versions of the software were not running on older Mac OS versions. The support team was helpful in getting it sorted out.

In an age where passwords get compromised every other day, it is quite difficult to keep everything secure while remembering all the different passwords. 1Passwords is exactly that, reduces the passwords you need to remember to just one. You add all you passwords and sensitive information to 1Password, while generating very secure passwords then using browser extensions and mobile phone apps, you can login at the click of a button.

I like:
- the simplicity of the user experience
- the security and peaaace of mind - tells you if your password has been compromised or if you're reusing it
- the ability to remember all sorts of sensitive information like files and credit card details
- the availability on all platforms

Inconvénients

The one thing that is both a pro and a con is the login process. You need to enter your email address, a 20+ alphanumeric secret key and your master password. To be fair, 1Password has done everything to ensure you can get all these details as faast as possible.

Avantages

The concept is so simple and makes it easy to make sure you are using secure passwords for all your accounts. By only having to remember one (definitely strong) password, you no longer have to worry about reusing the same password or keeping a paper list next to your desk of all your passwords. With everything these days requiring a login, 1Password makes it easy, convenient and secure to create and store unique logins for all your online and offline accounts. You can store more than just passwords too, securely store your credit cards, passport, driver's license, bank account information as well as secure notes with whatever content you want. They make it super easy and simple to generate new passwords and logins, plus it can monitor and alert you to compromised logins as well as when 2FA is available.

Inconvénients

So far, I haven't found anything that I don't like. Any issues I've come across, their support quickly provided a solution.

- Ability to share vaults, and thus decide what passwords should be shared with your team and what are personal, for only the administrative team, etc.

- One of the less obvious pros: you know when you have to sign up for an account with a new platform and they need you to create a password with 20 characters, 1 special character, 2 spaces, 1 number, and it must contain French (okay, I'm exaggerating, but you get the picture) - 1Password will do that for you, and remember the unique and secure password it created so you don't have to.

Inconvénients

Cons:
- The learning curve is steep. As much as I would like to, it's not software I would get my mom using just for the sake of it - it can be confusing at first
- It's hard to shop around for password-management software. Once you invest, you're kind of committed. If you don't like 1Password, it's going to be annoying to switch.

I really like:

2. Two-factor authentication is automatically detected for websites that offer it and you can generate codes directly within 1password which is absolutely brilliant.
3. Support with iPhone password manager is top-notch and saves a ton of time.
4. UI and UX are extremely easy to use.
5. Cross-platform support is really good.

Inconvénients

Their Google Chrome extension that is called 1Password X doesn't make sense to me. At times, it feels brilliant but most of the times I don't feel the purpose of this app so I simply use the App for Mac instead of the browser.

1Password makes managing passwords easy. I have used this on Windows and Mac and Android for over 2 years and find that once you get past the connecting of online storage options, it is an effective and easy to use password manager.
The password creator tool is probably the best feature in my opinion, its remembers what site you created a password for and you can easily go back and edit or change passwords on the fly.
Syncing between devices is also a great tool, you always have the latest passwords and login info (as long as you have internet)
The extension tools make it easy to log into various sites particularly in Chrome

Inconvénients

Setting up 1Password does require a bit of technical knowledge especially if you choose not to opt for a 1password membership as a vault for your passwords
The price is steep especially on Mac, even though it is a one time cost.
Syncing is not always accurate.
Though the password creator is an awesome tool, it can get messy if you create 2 or more passwords for the same site or login info, it will not automatically overwrite the old info that is no longer valid unless you manually do this.
The Safari extension on Mac anyway does not work great.

This password tool easily allows for switching to complex, random, and unique passwords from the traditional approach of using the same easy-to-remember password everywhere. It also makes it simple to retrieve and populate password fields using browser extensions and sharing entire password libraries with other users is a breeze. It will also warn you when a password has been reused on other sites and when it has been compromised and appears on the web in rainbow tables for use by hackers.

Inconvénients

I'm not a big fan of subscription-based products. Why can't I just purchase the software once and stick with that version until I decide it's time to upgrade? That is the way 1Password used to work, but now they've gone to a subscription model, along with everyone else.

Password managers are probably one of the most useful things out there. Plenty of people use free ones, provided by Google, Apple, etc. However, what sets 1Password apart from the free services is their encryption plus the fact that the software title speaks true of what it says: YOU ONLY NEED 1 PASSWORD. 1Password creates unique passwords for you for each individual website or application, and you login using the single password that you set up, which then uses the password per website/app to log you in. It's secure, useful, and worth the money.

Inconvénients

Paying for a password manager isn't the most appealing, but their prices are fair.

Avantages

They seem laser-focused on reducing the friction and pain of following good security practices. I find the software a delight to use, and they release new features over the years that are genuinely useful. This is one example, but their implementation of time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) is wonderful.

I feel like you really need to try the product out to understand the little things that make 1Password such a pleasure to use day in and day out.

I don't love their change in how they handle file attachments ("Documents") compared to previous versions.

A great tool to help an average user increase their password security in an easy and convenient way. Following good password security doesn't take much time with software like 1Password - most of the time investment is in the initial setup. After this login speed doesn't really take much longer than normal when running on your normal personal computer.
The tradeoff for this is to create a much more secure computing environment for whatever services you tend to use.

Inconvénients

1Password offers an online storage option. This has convenience. However it does provide vulnerability. The most secure passwords should be stored offline - but for an average user whos' account to secure doesn't contain critical sensitive passwords this is 'good enough' security.

Avantages

Like many people, I used to save my login information in an un-secure document, which I would reference when logging in. 1Password improves upon this in so many ways. It is easy to save new passwords when creating account or logging in the first time, and even easier to auto populate credentials when coming back to a site. On top of all that, it is infinitely safer than saving credentials in a random file.

I also thing these features are nice to have, but not critical for my specific use: 1- the password generator. Since I don't need to memorize all my passwords, why not have 1Password generate a ridiculously complex password for me! 2- Vaults (shared team storage areas for passwords). If you have a team login for a site, you can save it in a shared vault. It is no longer necessary to ask a teammate to send you the log in information, everyone will have it at their fingertips.

Inconvénients

There are no big cons to 1Passord. The biggest challenge is getting everyone bought in and actually using it. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I think that 1Password is very good at what it does. The watchtower is a neat feature in particular that monitors for password breaches. I like the overall password strength meter. The family password manager is neat for families that have shared logins. Syncing between devices works well.

Inconvénients

Like I said, I like how 1P shows you your overall password strength rather than just individual password's strengths. It would be cool if watchtower took into account that users may use an easy-to-remember pw on several non-sensitive websites where there's no credit card info or sensitive personal info on file. For example, I think watchtower should weigh vulnerable passwords used on banking websites more heavily than say a news website or fast food account.

Avantages

The company is very transparent and have build the product on top of a zero-knowledge model. There were no major breach in the past and 1password offer a good bug bounty program. The integration with every browser is flawless and provide a smooth user experience.

Inconvénients

The only missing feature is to share granular item inside a team. You need to plan your vaults to give you the right level of flexibility without sharing all-to-everyone.

The security model and philosophy of the company.

Avantages

Even though I try to keep my password pretty similar each time I do it, it's sometimes not worth it to guess your passwords on certain sites because you can get locked out. What I like about 1Password is that it's super easy and secure to get in and look up your password for certain software or sites. They have bubbles over the password so that it's not revealed right away and locks you out of the app after 15 minutes. I think it's definitely worth it to have an app like this and I haven't found a better one that 1Password.

Inconvénients

There's honestly not a lot I don't like about 1Password, but the only thing I can really think of is that I'm often wondering how secure it really is. I'm honestly not sure how much it is protected or what would happen if I lost my "master" password. There isn't much information about the app when you login on how they are protecting your information, so that would be nice to know.

Avantages

1Password just works, once you've got it set up and going. Sharing passwords is relatively easy, and the mobile app is well designed.

Inconvénients

Pretty convoluted and difficult for new users to set up across all their devices. Feel like they should be able to do better than a PDF with login credentials.

It's also annoying that if you install the 1Password desktop app you lose the ability to run multiple profiles on the one machine. I have family members that want to share their passwords with me, but not necessarily with the entire family group; at the moment flicking between profiles is the only way to achieve this, so I ended up creating two different user accounts for my machine just so that I could have the 1Password app on one for my everyday use, and use the other for accessing multiple profiles.

I like that it's integrated with all my devices. By "integrated", I mean that every time there's a password field to fill, 1Password will automatically trigger and prompt which account to use (I have multiple), even on my Android phone. I find this amazing. When I hear people's (negative) experience with competitors' solutions, I'm always recommending them to use 1Password instead :)

I've been a user for many years now, and the software is continuously improving, so I can't think of anything that is negative about 1Password!

1password makes it as easy as possible to keep track of the passwords I use personally and those I share with my family and colleagues at work. Integrating with any website is inherently difficult but I think they do pretty well, and they're always coming out with improvements.

Inconvénients

It's a bit confusing at times because the process of signing up for every website is different, but I don't think you can really blame 1password for that - in moments of ambiguity they sometimes create duplicate entries, and it's up to the user to cull these entries. I think that's the right strategy, it's better to not lose data, but it can definitely be a bit confusing at times - I convinced my mother-in-law to use this software but it was a bit too much for her to continue with, she now uses bad passwords and tapes post-it notes with her passwords to her screen 😬

1password really lives up to its marketing promises, I only remember one password now and it's for 1password because thanks to this awesome software I don’t have to remember long passwords for all my accounts because it takes cares of all of them and whenever I have to type a password to login to one of my accounts it automatically fills it for me which is awesome. The software is available on all platforms so I get to access my passwords on all my devices.

Inconvénients

if they can lower the price for the business plan to allow more small businesses to afford it that would be great because I believe that even small corporations should offer this awesome tool to all their employees to increase their security.

1Password is an extremely reliable software that organizes not only your logins but also a wider range of important information such as bank accounts, credit cards, personal notes, driver licenses, passports, etc. Their mobile app is extremely useful on the daly basis and provides you with direct and quick access to all of your encrypted data.

Inconvénients

Since 1Password implemented the subscription business model it became an expensive solution, especially in countries and regions (such as Latin America) where the local currency is constantly devalued. Instead of offering their products in US dollar what about thinking of local prices, just like any other tech company generally do? I am pretty sure the company would observe an expressive growing in the region.

I love 1Password and have been a champion of theirs for the last 6 years. I recommend to everyone that will listen to use them as their default password manager. Secure vaults and password recipes make creating secure logins a breeze. Sharing passwords / login credentials with you team (or your family) is also an incredibly useful feature in making sure that your credentials are top notch, but available to those that need them.

Inconvénients

I wish they hadn't gone to the service model as I started using them when it was still just software you purchased, then got free updates one. Thankfully they grandfathered in their existing user base, but it would be a lot easier to convince friends and family to make a one time purchase, versus a continual monthly expense. The software itself is fantastic and couldn't make me happier.

The price of the lowest tier is hard to beat, and its amazing to get passwords syncd to all my devices, I have more than 250 passwords saved in this app, and it is a huge time saver and life saver.

My wife and I share the app and it gives me peace of mind knowing I'm automatically sharing all our most important information with the click of a button, if anything ever happened to me, or if I wasn't available, she doesn't need to text me for the password, and I have to text her back (which is SOOO not a secure way to share pwds).

This app we both use everyday both personally and professionally, I can't recommend it enough

Inconvénients

there are some ui things which are a little quirky, but nothing major. For example, if I'm looking in one vault and I search then things from my other vaults don't show up and I have to do a couple extra clicks to get there, it would be nice if I could automagically everytime search across all my vaults.

- I wish there was a better upgrade path for long time usesr who bought, all the apps, to move to the subscription model they offer now (I spent a lot of money on the Mac apps and then I had to spend more money on the subscription)

I've used 1Password on a daily basis for MANY years. It continues to grow and develop, addressing new security requirements of websites, apps, etc. Rather than reuse easy-to-guess passwords, I can use the helpful password suggestions or utilize the "recipe" requirements you need for a site - number of characters, a combination of words and symbols, memorable words, etc. All I need to remember in order to access my growing list of saved passwords, wireless network logins, membership cards, etc., is one password I have created and remember. Or I can use my fingerprint to unlock the vault. It can generate 1-time security codes, which conveniently are filled in on the website. The joint subscription enables me to share certain designated logins with others. The synchronized account enables me to access my logins on whatever device I have.

Inconvénients

Like other apps I've used for many years, 1Password has gone to a subscription model only. Bring back fingerprint unlocking of 1Password extension on Chrome for Mac, please!

Avantages

1Password does what you expect, generate and save passwords. There are useful additional features though like being able to upload a document and store it securely. The integration between 1Password and Have I Been Pwned from Troy Hunt is an excellent addition to an already great product and the Watchtower feature is very useful. The product does generally feel very polished and well thought through for example with the emergency kit in case of forgetting your master password.

Inconvénients

I found sometimes the interface to be glitchy on macOS across multiple machines. This is suprising considering it was originally a Mac native app. The lack of capability to integrate a personal account in the same way LastPass does or maybe switch between business and personal accounts easily is a shame.
On a couple of occasions the sync has been a bit laggy and I have had to power up my laptop where a new site/password was saved before it appears on my mobile.

Avantages

I love the Yubikey integration, as well as the ability to add QR codes to generate 2FA codes to increase security. No more racing the clock to open multiple apps on your phone to copy and paste time-sensitive codes.

Inconvénients

Sometimes the app takes a second to load, causing the beach ball to spin on my Mac computers. However, this does not happen often.

I'd like to see an "MFA paranoia" mode that requires me to re-MFA with 1Password itself before it will fill an MFA code for certain logins. This would preserve the "chain of proof" that I am sitting at the computer and that I intend to use MFA, vs. some attacker controlling my mouse and keyboard and relying on auto-fill to do their dirty work for them. With most web sites I wouldn't care about this, but sometimes, it's critical.

I love the ease and simplicity of this program. There are lots of customizations available for each login and it's easy to get overwhelmed by the opportunities you have with this product. I particularly like that I can safely store social security numbers, credit cards, passports, and more. Even better, some websites share logins and you can set a single login to apply to multiple websites - that alone was worth the switch. What really helped it stand out above the others is Watchtower. A website I frequent was hacked recently and my information was stolen and sold (YAY for scammers!) and I was uncomfortable about using it any further. After a long process of changing all my passwords and usernames, I found Watchtower to be particularly helpful at identify and mitigating password and security issues. Watchtower is an incredible tool and I'm glad that 1Password has it available. As well, this program offers one-time passwords and auto-fills the information for you. I could keep going but I'll stop here :-)

Inconvénients

Ironically... nothing. I wish I could tell you something, but there's nothing I don't like about it so far. Time will tell, but for now, it's easy to use.

I got irritated with constant pop-ups and multiple logins just to use my account. I didn't like how the features were difficult to navigate in the platform.

Avantages

One password easily integrates with macbook touch ID, automatically saves and updates login info any time it detects a change or a new login, and it suggests strong passwords. iphone integration is also pretty seamless and easy to set up so it comes up as a signon option along with apple keychain whenever I need to login somewhere.

Inconvénients

It's not as user friendly as other password management software I've used. You constantly have to log back in (the default settings make you enter your master password frequently, although they can be changed), and once you are logged in, it doesn't automatically fill in your info. You have to click the info field, then click the 1Password icon, then click to login to 1Password, then click the field again, then select your desired login from the drop down. Oh, and then go down to the next box and select that dropdown choice (luckily, it remembers you've logged in). Lots of extra steps, though, that make it pretty cumbersome and annoying to use. It also is a bit harder to navigate the master list and categorize login info.

I've used 1Password for more than 10 years and have saved a huge amount of time by capturing passwords automatically and entering them quickly. I have thousands of entries.

Inconvénients

Of course, I would like to pay less, but the price is fair.

Avantages

It works seamlessly with Chrome and my iPhone so that I can get randomized, impossible to guess, passwords generated and keyed into login pages without any hassle. I also use the secured notes function to keep important information about my business in one spot, like bank account numbers. I also keep credit cards in it, rather than using browsers and operating systems on my phone/computers, so they sync.

Inconvénients

On occasion, it doesn't work and I have to hunt around for the password. It doesn't always work to cut and paste, especially on the phone. The apps for various browsers, desktop, and phone are all just a little different. 1Password is not intuitive to most users and it has taken a bit of training and persistence to get my employees to use it consistently.

Avantages

1Password is super simple and secure, allowing our company to store (and internally share) the passwords to our various media and software accounts. The two factor authentication is also great, giving us even more peace of mind when accessing sensitive data. It is also fairly priced. We have tried a few different password storage options and this by far is our favorite!

Inconvénients

I wish that 1Password had some kind of live chat/phone support, as we've run into small issues from time-to-time that took a bit longer to solve than we would've liked. Speaking to a rep over the phone would have made the process much simpler to solve. Otherwise, we love this service!

Avantages

My company 100% relies on 1Password. We share a lot of accounts within our company and previously the password management was handled on Google Sheets. One-click sign-ins, password generator, the ability to choose between private and shared vaults are just irreplaceable features for my life at work and at home.

Inconvénients

I seriously can not think of any cons for 1Password.

The brand seemed more trustworthy, and also I had previously used 1Password so that experience helped us lean towards it.

Avantages

I love that I can store passwords that can be synced across all my devices. I also am able to store really important information and manage access to them.

Inconvénients

1Password went through a lot of changes since it was just a one-time payment to a subscription. There was a lot of confusion with transferring things over that I wish they made more smooth.
