It comes with drag and drop style tools that are easily programmable. The conversion from a 2D layout design to 3D and Floor plans is automated. It comes with built in Libraries that can easily provide finishing details and realistic proportions of final design. Very good for Quick Design jobs under time constraint.

Inconvénients

The rendering of 3D models is very poor in Quality. Additional Render tools are required which come separately at additional cost.

Avantages

It is really great software, not difficult to use, precise.
From 2D to 3D simultaneously,very convincing renders.
Yo can do even calculations, estimations, material lists and much,much more.

Inconvénients

Something I´m waithing for a long time from Graphisoft is to relese some GDL scripting course.
It is difficult to find enough learning material and what already exists is very difficult for understandning for
people out of coding world.
Thera are some improvments with PARAM-O but not for the MAC users.

The thing I like most is the easy-to-use user interface and the BIMx function in order to share the model with other users

The thing I like least of this software is the interoperability with other big softwares on the market (architecturals and structurals, used more in architectrual field)

Lo que mas me ha gustado es la facilidad con la que se puede aprender sin necesidad de tomar algún tipo de curso o capacitación (aunque lo recomiendo para un mejor manejo del software), es bastante sencillo el descubrir como utilizar las herramientas y tiene bastantes opciones de edición de estas mismas, su extensa biblioteca facilita mucho el escalar los espacios, y los sistemas para diseño de techo y escaleras sin duda facilitan mucho el diseño de espacios.

Inconvénients

Lo que menos me ha gustado es la calidad de las líneas ya que el borde de estas se percibe redondo cuando debería terminar de forma recta, esto le quita un poco de calidad a las entregas ya que se ve un poco sucio a la hora de crear una lamina y posteriormente hay que pasar las laminas por otro programa para mejorarlas. También al copiar y pegar elementos a la lamina a veces el hatch pierde la escala, mas allá de eso creo que es una excelente herramienta.

ArchiCAD has many great qualities, like their great customer service and mobile access capabilities. It is important for our workflow and it has done wonderfully.

At first, we were worried about the length and administration of software training. However, the program scales up incredibly well for all company sizes , making training a breeze.

My experience is mainly in MEP and I like how easy it can be to adjust the default components in the libraries, without the need to add a new one. With other BIM softwares it is more complicated to adjust the dimensions of these components.

Inconvénients

It really is a software that I like a lot and I would recommend it on the competition, what I like the least could be a little the interface that does not look so modern, but as Softaware I do not have negative criticism.

Transferring files from/To ArchiCad with other Autodesk programs like autocad and revit since most firms use it it has a problem with the conversion especially if its different versions or newer.

ArchiCAD is a good tool for those companies that are developing architecture projects. The reason is because it allows specific designs and the development of the work, from the beginning to the end.

Inconvénients

You have to add personalized data, so only reliable users should enter. The price is very expensive, which is negative for users.

Avantages

This package is feature rich and is well supported. While there are nowhere as many users, at least in the US, as there are for the industry standard, it seems to me gaining in use - probably because of marketing to students. Cost is much more reasonable if you can manage without having the industry standard software.

Inconvénients

It is harder to collaborate with many engineers and other consultants that typically use the industry standard. It does support files created with other CAD packages, but it will never be as seamless as having everyone on the same platform. That said, with limited or no support between versions of the same package from the industry standard, coordination can still be a pain.

Avantages

The BIM methodology has been incorporated in out projects for a year now, and we have been using Archicad to accomplish the architecture modelling and also the 2D drafting all at once. It is very easy to use and a powerful software that can manage high end projects.

Inconvénients

There is limited support between versions. Sometimes it makes it hard to work.

The possibility to start from scratch, build the whole thing and then have the option to make it 3D.

The design, it looks old, but at the same time it has everything I expected from it.

Integration of all aspects of design and delivery. We used to use different software for design, documentation, and presentation. Archicad rolls all of this into a single software.

Integration with Revit is critical but it continues to be challenging. This is especially true when we partner with other architects.

It gives a very professional and detailed view of architectural plans. I like the ability to be able to switch from 2D to 3D which shows errors that might not be obvious initially.

ArchiCAD requires a powerful system and lots of RAM, especially while rendering. When you are opening a file with a lot of data, it does tend to slow down the system a little.

The navigation is very quick which makes using this software very convenient, this also allows drag and drop which again is very smooth and does not make the computer sluggish.

The 3D model library could be better integrated and have much more options in its catalogue, parametric modelling could be vastly improved.

unlike AutoCAD, you can work in parallels and simultaneously between floor plans and elevation in 3D! saving your time to create the elevation as soon as you done the floor plans, all together! And if you have to working in team either close or across the cities you can working together on the same files at the same time, so as soon as you made a changed in the floor plans the other would recognise the changed at a glance! Best software if you're working in a team.

Inconvénients

Despite its ability to working simultaneously between floor plans and elevation, you have to adjust your own custom specifications of materials details from windows to the walls, one by one if you want to create the elevations and facade

What I love about ArchiCAD is how much more integrated with the thinking mind design process it is. This software can be used starting with the design process all the way through CDs. Its competitor (though hardly one in the US) functions very poorly from a rough design standpoint. ArchiCAD on the other hand allows you to make quick, beautiful diagrams without creating a super heavy file.

Inconvénients

What I dislike about the file is simply that it doesn't quite have all the perks of BIM - clash detection add ons, etc. It is a more simplified version of BIM, which is why i love it (doesn't feel as clunky, and feels more intuitive) but is more difficult to use to collaborate with structure, mep, civil, etc.

There are a lot of tools to use and create a magnific design, after that you can choose to polish the final product further and render with a 3rd party renderer or with Cinerender by Maxon. I honestly like all the benefits this program provides to my weekly activities as an architect... I don't use SketchUp anymore!!

Creating 3d models of designs is one of my best hobbies, and archicad has helped me alot through the simple and offline/standalone design. I can do it even when on vacation

I spent part of my time each day providing drafting support to our designers, and ArchiCAD was an easy program for me to learn even with minimal drafting experience. The support documents and online resources helped me overcome any learning obstacle I came across.

Having installed ArchiCAD on each computer, it was a tad time consuming to installed and license for everyone. But that's really the only negative I can think of, the drafting interface and features are fantastic!

I've used ArchiCAD in the past to do some 3D modeling and rendering visualization for architectural projects. However, in my experience using other 5-8 software on the same line, I think ArchiCAD in one of the most basic ones. You'll be able to create a project from scratch and do a fair/good quality rendering if you know how to use it.

You would also, learn how to be organized with layer management.

Inconvénients

The compatibility with 3D model formats (the most known like 3DS, FBX, and OBJ don't really work great, as some of the textures may be missing during the export-import process.

Also, their customer service, can be a little painfull, just to get answers to common issues. You'll spend 30-45 minutes, to get a not much-convinced answer, that you could probably find by looking in the web.

I do not have a great experience with this software, but I think maybe it is a good software for those who are more involved in the Interior design or students to start in the industry because it gives you the tools to understand other software.
