Best remote assistance tool

My favorite computer admin tool to use, easy, fast, can't do without it!

Avantages

Being able to connect to a computer without having to log in on that computer is the best feature. I allows for quick observation of the users problems, allows connection if no one is attending to the remote device and you don't want to and can't log out the current user.

Inconvénients

Nothing really, the interface could use some updating maybe, it works great but still has that Windows 98 look to it kind of.

Love Dameware!

Avantages

Super easy to log into any computer on my network. I'm constantly using it to fix minor email issues as well as setting up computers/servers without having to go physically to the computer(s). Love being able to lock the mouse/keyboard so the user doesn't try to keep typing while I'm fixing something. I also like the View Only button so I don't move their mouse around while they are finishing up something before I take over.

Inconvénients

-Missing a "reconnect to the last computer".
-A search feature for computers without having to manually search for it (sometimes the computer gets named wrong).
-Be able to setup groups.

Powerful remote desktop management

Quickly troubleshoot remote desktops with this software. You will recover your costs quickly with saved time with this software.

Avantages

I like the speed and ease of using this software. It has saved us hundreds of hours by giving us a quick tool to troubleshoot end user issues without having to go onsite. It's more than just a remote desktop connection, you get multiple authentication options and can maintain connects, sign in/out, etc. all while staying connected to the remote computer.

Inconvénients

We discovered some Windows 10 compatibility issues with our current version that we are working through (mostly by upgrading to the latest version).

Easy to use

Better support for my users

Avantages

It's very easy to use - It takes me just seconds to connect to a user's computer. The user's like the fact that I can connect remotely and fix issues as we have several buildings and travelling is not an option.

Inconvénients

Not sure if I could use this for non-domain connected PC's. We have user's in remote sites and it would be helpful to be able to reach these users.

I have been using Dameware for over 5 years and it has always met my requirements with no...

I am able to more effectively trouble shoot issues remotely because the program different protocols to connect. It reduces the time that I spend time trying to connect using RDP.

Avantages

That is uses a different protocol than RDP, which provides more features. I am able to get information about the computer I am connected to. The best feature that it passes Smart Card credentials to the remote computer.

Inconvénients

Since most companies are using two factor authentication, it would be useful if Dameware Central Server would allow that instead of requiring an account and password for the LDAP query to allow users to use the software

Exceptional software, a must have for any IT Professional

Avantages

Cannot recommend this software enough, definitely worth the money. Being able to remote into an end users computer to troubleshoot issues/assist users, install software, etc. Has saved trips to come back onsite after hours, provided us a place to verify software installed and versions of software, verify and gather installed printer info, remote command line, even remote registry on the remote system. Most everything a system admin or support would need for troubleshooting is right at your fingertips to perform remotely.

Inconvénients

This software doesn't solve the issues by itself (of course we'd be out of a job if it did), but in all seriousness it's a great software there really are no cons.

One thing with the version we are running anyway is that once licensed under a particular user on the machine it is installed on, the software always has to be run as that user on that machine. This may be changed now however.

Dameware is worth using

Avantages

At the company I work for, we use Dameware to provide IT support to our customers, it has a fast and stable remote connection, allows you to leave the access configuration recorded and save the accessed computers to facilitate a new access.
Very good.

Inconvénients

The file sharing process could be improved, as in Anydesk that we copied from our screen and pasted on the micro client screen.

A real life saver!

Very effecent way to support my Radiologist from my desk!

Avantages

This software allows me to remote into my Radiologist workstations and trouble shoot without leaving my desk. I have full functionality just like I am sitting in front of the workstation!

Inconvénients

Very few things about this software I dislike. I find that I have to update the client on some machines fequentlt, and I am not exactly sure why.

Powerful

ease of use, graphical interface got much better and much faster. the ability to browse your active directory for object for remote connection is a must

registration or entering product key is getting more complicated. you do not need this. Also product renaming is always confusing especially if you maintenace agreement...

Best Product we Ever Purchased

Quicker time to ticket resolution, which has lead to happier end users.

Avantages

The ability to connect to any workstation on the domain without having to pre-install an agent was what sold us. We moved to DameWare from UltraVNC, and what a difference it made!

Inconvénients

We find it really hard to find something we don't like about DameWare. This product has truly been a time saver.

So-So at best

Avantages

the ability to do remote management is nice. The interface is ok! The ability to do ad-hoc off network remote control is nice.

Inconvénients

This is less about the software and more about SolarWinds itself. They are an extremely high-pressure sales model. The "good deal" of the day is just that. Expires at the end of the day. Support is horrible at best

Very handy tool, but it definitely has room for improvement.

Easier remote management of PC's

Avantages

Can install the client remotely. Most admin management tools are available remote (e.g. registry editing).

Inconvénients

MRC and Remote Support tools are not integrated enough. I would like the favorites to cross sync between the two. I would like to be able to add/remove/modify printers remotely without using MRC/Remote-Desktop. Would like to be able to transfer files in the Remote-Support tool. Would like to be able to batch deploy msi or other silent installers to multiple PCs. I cannot find a way to install Remote Support Agent unless I try to launch Remote Command Prompt on a machine. Need to be able to batch deploy both MRC and Remote Support agents.

Remote server access

Avantages

The DameWare Mini Remote Control application allows us to easily access our report servers. It offers fast file transfer from destination server. A very successful remote desktop program with low resource consumption.

Inconvénients

I haven't encountered an event that I wanted and couldn't do yet. Rep meets my request.

Fantastic Remote Software - Best Value

Quick and easy ability to support out end-users without always having to support them in person.

Avantages

Ease of use. Registry editor, Processes, Disk Drives, event logs, services manager, sessions, wake on lan and remote control all in one place. I also like the ability to put a friendly name to each remote connection so that I can also look at the list with a name and not just the computer name.

Inconvénients

Even though the software is a great value for the price, it can be a bit steep for a smaller company and hard to justify.

Inconvénients

It is not easy to use it via internet. I mean to connect from Internet is difficult. It would be great we can use it across the network.

Great software. Very responsive when connected to other workstations.

Quick support from our IT department for our users via remote capabilities.

Avantages

I love the responsiveness when connected to other clients. It's much more responsive and smooth than the other remote applications we have. Unless the mirror driver failed, there is no clipping or lag when typing.

Inconvénients

Not exactly straight forward for setting up a saved user for connecting to clients. We also had an application that would black out on the end of whoever was connecting so we couldn't support it remotely with this.

I can assist quickly without leaving my desk. Excellent for providing IT Support during the busy day. Exceptionally easy to use.

Inconvénients

NO ability to use on the MAC eco-system. We have many mac books and mac minis that we would love to be able to support the same way we do our windows machines.

Awesome and easy to use; troubleshooting made easy by visualizing

Visualization is a necessity in IT to efficiently troubleshoot end user experience. Often times the verbal explanation isn't what appears to be the actual error or problem compared to when observed with visuals. Connection is always stable, never had an issue.

Avantages

Ease of use. Recall of IP/hostname. Dual display view and more. Configurable. Secured. Ping feature is cool, simple yet powerful during reboot.

Inconvénients

Annoying encounters of old and new clients/agents not installed; other annoying errors during connection. A bit expensive per license.

Secure and Easy to use

Avantages

Dameware Remote Support requires security privileges on the machine that you are attempting to remote. You can store your admin account for quick use later.

Inconvénients

Sometimes the resolution of the computer that you are trying to remote can make Dameware Remote Support be difficult to use.

Avantages

I have used Dameware for over 10 years, and I love that I can remote into a PC an monitor a live session to see what issues my agents are seeing. I also love that I can kill the remote keyboard to keep someone from messing up my remote session.

Inconvénients

Dameware occasionally will connect to the wrong PC if there is a DNS conflict. This isn't a major issue because it does give you a warning, but I have still booted the wrong user occasionally because I wasn't paying attention.

Great IT Tool

Even if I don't try the software installed on a remote machine on the same LAN it is possible to install the agent and access it remotely in a few minutes.

dameware is in a crowded space with newer players

dameware is ok and a valid alternative but i dont see anything novel or unique about it compared to what else is out there

Avantages

It is good for remote access if you need an alternative, in some cases you cannot establish an RDP connection manually

Inconvénients

It was better back when there weren't as many tools out there, now it seems more people are using it for user support as opposed to administration

Best Remote Management Software

DRS is a great product. I use it for 10 years at least and I'm very pleased.
It has helped me the most to manage all the remote machines of our organization.

It's a solid helpdesk program at a fair price

As mentioned before it tracks and reports what we need tracked and reported.

Avantages

It does what I need it to do, tracks tickets, solutions, assets, hardware, and software, and generates clean reports from that information.

Inconvénients

Tech support is terrible, I've submitted 2 tickets recently regarding an upgrade and have heard nothing back. Every few months it will randomly stop pulling email, easily remedied, but I don't like my users to have to wait for a resonse.

It is very user friendly from the tech's standpoint. It allows for quick support to all our internal customers. Dameware is one of our go to pieces of software for supporting our users.

Inconvénients

There have been no major issues with this software. The only issue we ever had was the initial setup of the software into our DMZ for giving us access to external users that are not on our network. However, the documentation assisted with this.

Dameware is functional and flexible, though it is a bit clunky at times

Avantages

1. Usefulness. Gets the job done when we need to remote in
2. Flexibility. Remoting in to people off of our network has been a great feature
3. Consistent. Rarely do I run into unexpected issues.

Inconvénients

1. It's not pretty. It's focus is function over looks. Poor UI design.
2. The rare issues it does have can be inexplicable. Why does the display look a certain way, for instance.
3. The "recent connections" list is fairly useless.

Use this product on a daily basis (in conjunction with N-Able) to provide support to all my...

I use the product in conjunction with Solarwinds N-Able on a daily basis to provide my MSP clients support. Some of the clients I have chose not to purchase 24/7 monitoring so for those I use DameWare quite often for desktop support phone calls.

Avantages

The agent seems to be very non-invasive on the client PC.
Full desktop experience (reboot, command line, Wake On LAN etc...)

Inconvénients

When I run up against a firewall that will not allow the agent to install.
There is very little that I don't like.

Dameware Mini Remote Control allow me to screen access and control on all computers on our...

Avantages

It can push the client to the target machine even when it is unattended and logged off. Unlike RDP the screen is shared with the user so that help and support can be provided.

Inconvénients

The mirror driver has interfered with video drivers in some cases. Also when connecting to a client with a screen resolution much higher than mine I have to scroll like crazy to get around their screen. I recommend screen scaling to fix this.

The most useful software to make remote desktop

We use it when a user has a problem with the computer to show what is that exactly.

Avantages

If you are a system administrator in a company, I recommend you to use Dameware intensely. You don't need to enter ID or password to make a remote connection every time. Once you enter your system admin user and password to Dameware, that's enough, it saves these information. There is an agent application and you should install PC that you want to connect.

Inconvénients

If you want to make remote desktop, firstly you should install agent to the PC that you want to connect. But it occurs error sometimes when you do it.

This is the best remote support software I have used in 21 years of providing tech support

I can have multiple sessions open at once and work on several PCs. It saves me a lot of time since I don't have to run around to multiple locations.

Avantages

It is very inexpensive. No need to install it on all of the clients. It will do that for you the first time you connect.

Inconvénients

I'm having a hard time thinking of anything. Sometimes (no always) if the customer's screen resolution is higher than mine it won't let me see their whole screen without scrolling.

Just the right toolkit we were looking for to meet our remote support needs.

Easy to manage multiple remote sessiosn, remote process mon, and remote registry have been very helpful.

Avantages

Push capability, Remote Support tools are great for remote registry and remote process access has really benefited our support team. It is an excellent all in one place for us to troublshoot client systems.

Inconvénients

Monitor resolution could be better, RC is limited to remote system display resolution. Can be slow to connect at times.

I use DameWare Mini Remote frequently. It's a quick way to fix a PC problem within our LAN.

PC problems fixed quickly and easily without travel time throughout the company.

Avantages

It's fast and easy to log-in to another PC when needed for trouble shooting. We are on an island and also many offices on the mainland. It saves our IT personal lots of travel time.

Inconvénients

I can't seam to figure out saving host names so I can choose the employee PC from a list by name. I'm sure it can be done. I have never really had much training on it.

A one-stop-shop for workstations and server data and troubleshooting. Love the tool access especially for remote troubleshooting machines we cannot access by RDP or direct login.

I have been very pleased with DameWare and have setup a DMW file for sharing with others that lists all our servers and other specific computers. I have tried other software but have not been as impressed as with DameWare. Solarwinds has great products.

This product enables us to do a lot more than what we can though RDS.

Remote control of machines, as well as bundled in with the Remote Support tool we can do a lot of neat things remotely making us more productive.

Avantages

I like that it's easy to learn the basics and easy for my technicians to learn right out of the box.

Inconvénients

There are times that it can be sluggish, or through random errors out when installing the service for the first time, but most of the time that has to do with the computer and not the software.

Dameware has been a Great asset for our organization, is allows us to support users effectively...

Avantages

The ease of use is the best part is will connect to even to any pc on our domain, and allows us to chat with and see all screens. Even when not at our own desks it allows ease of access to others.

Inconvénients

Only cons I have found is sometimes it will disconnect and have a longer then ideal timeout. Other then this No major cons are found other then small functionality stuff such as button labels can be confusing.

As a desktop support technician, DAMEWARE has allowed me to remotely correct issues immediately

It frees up a great deal of my time and allows me to solve problems ranging from the very simple and run of the mill issues to the absolutely confounding. In the time that I've had access to it I've been able to cut down on my work load and the time in which I have to complete tickets\jobs. It truly is a gift to my organization.

Avantages

The fact that I can reach out and touch any of the machines on my domain administratively and exercise complete control of that machine is AMAZING!

Great remote desktop software for a domain environment

if you are an administrator in a domain environment, check out this software. If you are looking for a way to connect to users over the internet, there are better options out there.

Avantages

Lots of features for a fairly low cost. You are able to pay a one time license fee and get the software for life.

This software allows me to remotely access any computer on the domain, without user intervention.

Inconvénients

not really useful for external tech support

For IT professionals, this is invaluable as a time saving program.

Time saving and ease of accessing remote computers

Avantages

We can remote into our users and see the issues they are having and fix them right from the screen rather than running around to other buildings or offices. If user has two monitors allows us to see both or one at a time.

Inconvénients

Can't think of any cons....but wish that the Wake up on LAN was more user friendly. But the issues with it are with our routing system.

This is a great tool for remote access and is bundled with many useful Admin tools.

Avantages

The amount of features included are a great value. For remote support Dameware will get me connected when RDP or other methods fail. Its ease of use and customization ability are whats missing from so much software these days

Inconvénients

While there is nothing wrong with the interface, it is a bit dated. Tho that being said, if its not broke then dont fix it. The few times i forget the set the remove and uninstall software on remote machine, Ive not determined how to remove the client software then. Not a deal breaker, just a strange missing feature.

I've used a different products for remoting into my equipment and I find this by far the best!!

When I am away from the office and an employee gets locked out of the domain for incorrect login, I can instantly get into a domain controller and unlock them. Many great uses for this software.

Avantages

Its ease of use probably. Its earlier versions were kind of hard to get every computer to work correctly with it, but it is great now. I have no problems with any of my servers or computers, and I often need to be able to remote in.

Very helpful for remote support

Lot of support provided to multiple locations in a very easy to use interface.

Avantages

Create a list of devices that gives you easy access to all your connections and you can filter them by host name or IP Address.

Inconvénients

The software will save hosts with the same name every time you input the same name, I would like to have the software recognize previous hostnames instead of keep creating new duplicated hosts.

This application helped provide visibility into remote systems, allowed access to servers, and a great resource for our help desk team.

Easy to use, works great for in network remote assistance.

Not have to go on site to trouble shoot users machines. Quickly and effectively assist our users

Avantages

It is easy to use and quick to launch. It requires basically no training for our newer techs that have never used a Remote Support tool before.

Inconvénients

I wish that it had some sort of file or installer push built in. It also does not work for users that are not connected to our network, but may be in our domain.

Dameware for Remote IT Professionals

I think the software is a great solution to Remote Support in the IT world.

Avantages

Dameware Remote Support offers many features that allow you to manage PCs within a Domain successfully. From Mini remote control, CMD features, remote service install, and even registry access, DMRS gives you to the opportunity to have a complete offsite remote system to manage PCs anywhere. It has been great for us in our environment.

Inconvénients

Sometimes it can error out with commands depending on the access that you have, but otherwise is pretty flawless if you have a VPN.

Does everything I expect it to do every time.

We're able to quickly assist our end users or remote to un-manned computers and fix problems. I've never had dameware crash or tell me it can't do something because of some reason.

Avantages

It works all the time. I setup a hot key to run it and it always runs and connects if I can ping the PC.

Inconvénients

I don't like how it handles the saved host list. I haven't done a lot of research on getting it the way I would want it though.

This software works only inside domain not External networks. If you guys create a additional option like to support External network its really good for System Administrators

DameWare Centralized Server was very easy to install and the Remote Support tool is easy to...

It allowed our administrators to seamlessly connect to end users' machines and provide remote support. It allowed us to do this for users that were having trouble connecting to the network over VPN as well (a limitation in other products).

Avantages

It is very reliable whether you're connecting over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. It's easy to manage access from the Centralized Server. The Remote Support interface is user-friendly.

Inconvénients

Some of the default settings caused scans of all machines in our networks (which is several thousand). These needed to be turned off manually on each technician machine.

Use the software often for accessing clients remotely.

Avantages

Easy to use and consistent software.
Very rarely is there issues with the software where it doesn't work. Reliable product.
Very convenient product. Makes it very easy to access remote systems on our network to perform necessary tasks.

Inconvénients

Price is higher than we'd like.
It would be nice if it was easier to access systems on the internal AND external networks.
