My company and I very much like Crowdin due to its flexibility for our localization projects.

Crowdin's support is not aware of all features and it takes time to have something fixed or helped with.

We've been using Crowdin for a long time, so I can honestly say that I like to see the growth and development. You are moving forward in small steps, it's encouraging. Pre-translation -- LOVE it, helps save time

Inconvénients

You have a lot of cool features that I as a user do not always understand and see. Often we are forced to contact the support service. I would recommend focusing on the UX part

Avantages

Before tools like Crowdin were on the market, our engineering team had to spend precious time and resources developing bespoke solutions in order to facilitate the process for our human translators. These are often not tech-savvy enough and thus we would require to abstract the implementation details ourselves. Now, we can setup the integration and leverage Crowdin to actually perform translations in a seamless way.

Inconvénients

The setup process could probably be improved, but once it's done it's smooth sailing. Some concepts are not clear from the get-go and the documentation is not as useful.

Avantages

As a UX designer, Crowdin has been a game-changer for our team. We use it to translate our software into multiple languages and fine-tune wordings. It makes it easy for us to manage translations and collaborate with our team and external translators. The integration with our workflow is seamless, saving us a lot of time. The support also has been wonderful.

Inconvénients

Some parts of the interface could be more intuitive. But you get used to it quickly.

Avantages

The side-to-side panel and bulk approval button, they are helpful when you have over 100 pages of strings to review.

Inconvénients

1. It needs you to remove the approved string before you can update it, otherwise the system will overwrite the updated string with the approved one, even when the updated ones are saved and double-approved.
2. The bulk change function should keep the modifications in a new filter/section instead of keeping them with those to be reviewed/approved, the reason is that bulk-changed strings should be assumed as "checked/examined", keeping those together will cause confusion if no comment is left by the reviewer to single out those changed strings, but to single out overly repetitive strings, one also must click and open that string in a new page, imagine there are over 10 strings to be bulk-changed, you get the idea.

It is supported by a large community, it has a intuitive UI and tools to integrate the workflow with github.

The pricing for organizations is pretty high, it can be unreasonably expensive for small companies.

Avantages

Crowdin has been a huge help for our localization projects. Our Localization manager and all translaters are using this tool on daily basis with ease and without any complaints.

The user experience is great as well as the customer experience .

The implementation of the tool was a breeze and I can recommend this tool to everyone.

Inconvénients

I am happy to note that nothing comes to mind at the moment to dislike about Crowdin.

Proofreading interface is not the easiest to understand for the proofreader.

Avantages

Crowdin provides enough instruments for translation such as searching/filtering, comparing different languages, machine translation, translation database, description section for concepts. Moreover, it is so easy to use these features. I was able to adapt myself even on first use.

Inconvénients

As I emphasized previously, spell checking feature is not enough for translation activity. Developing of the spell checking for all languages -if it is possible- could be helpful for translators and editors.

Crowdin sends email messages with links that take me directly to the new strings needing translated. It’s very easy to communicate and collaborate with the team if I have questions or notes for them.

Inconvénients

As an end user, I would like to be able to find recent strings I reviewed. Once I’ve translated a group of strings and delete the email with the link, I can never find that group of strings again (unless someone comments and I get another email). Perhaps a dashboard section could be added that has links to the most recent strings reviewed.

It's easy to use and allows our company to have content in different languages and be able to have internationalization for our pages easily.
Also, it allows us to delegate the translation of the content to other team.

Inconvénients

You don't have environments for testing, so you have all the translations in the same account, therefor you have to be more careful when you change keys so they don't disappear from production

Easy to set up new flows, as we evaluate several processes separately and start it based on events, it is very important for us that we don't spend too much time implementing the evaluation of the new processes using CES.

Inconvénients

Not many. Sometimes could be easier to understand some configurations, but when you have learned it, it works.

Avantages

Allowed us to tap into translators that we couldn't find translators for (Te Reo Maori) to help translate parts of the website. The system allowed us to easily upload and download yaml files. It allowed us to upload screenshots of the translations in use to help the translators. Another benefit is that we can open it up to our community to also help with the translations.

Inconvénients

No cons from my end, we did enough benefit analysis beforehand to make sure that Crowdin did what we needed it to do.
