Avantages
Once set up, easy to use and can customise invoices etc. Link to accountant is a good addition and use on different pc's has been handy for our usage.

Need to have book keeping experience or higher to understand fully, online help doesn't always understand your query.

Sage, The Epitom of Accounting
Tracking my expenses was hectic. However, now with Sage Business Cloud Accounting, I am able to track and even cut down on expenses.
Avantages
I love it's ability to automate the functions like reconcilliations.
Inconvénients
The fact that it is effective only when linked to the internet was a bit of a downer.

Basic accounting software for small business
Avantages
Easy to use even for staff who don't have much experience with accounting or other accounting software. Portability of the data is great too, whether you want to take your data to Excel and manipulate or move it to another software....at least you're not locked in. Mobile app is necessary, but the capability is lacking.
Inconvénients
As a cloud-based system, if you're without internet you're out of luck. The mobile app also needs a lot of work with only a few functions available compared to the desktop version. Mobile app also crashes more than it should. Reporting could also be much more detailed.

There are better cloud accounting packages out there.
Avantages
It is easier to navigate for a new user than its desktop-based counterpart (Sage 50).
Data is easy to input.
Inconvénients
Reporting functions are poor, and nowhere near as good as Xero or Sage 50.
The bank feed can disconnect itself for no reason, and transactions within the feed can get duplicated.
There is also a lot of downtime which can be highly inconvenient.

Billing… it's basic and doubtful debt, therefore unpaid invoices, are impossible to account according to the accounting laws

The customer service is always good and they help you build reports if you're having trouble so that's really helpful.
Inconvénients
The actual reports available aren't the best for financials. It would be better to have a 3rd party financial reporting software.

Sage Customer Service is terrible, they will charge you for things you don't use or pay for...
Shame on you Sage accounting. Small business stick with quickbooks.

It has Accounting features. It fuctions, but unfortunately the company has terrible customer service and will steal your money.
Inconvénients
This company charged the personal credit card of a small not for profit company that had declared bankruptcy months before, because they had it on file from the previous year. Months after insolvency was declared and the employee had been laid off, she found the charge on her card. Despite many phone calls explainibg the mistake that had been made nothing has been done. Terrible company that would put a laid off, soon to be mother in this position. Shame on them.

The accounting package works reasonably well. It is fairly logical and intuitive. It is fairly easy to set up.
Inconvénients
Customer service is poor. They do not respond. They do not provide a straight answer. They auto debit without explanation and then are non responsive to questions. They made a mistake and rather than work with me for the company to correct it, they turned it over to a collection agency. They are the absolute worst company to deal with

Has made my life easier, and made dealing with the accounts and invoicing less stressful and slightly more enjoyable!!

Quick and easy to set-up and get going on. Quick to send out invoices and add new customers. Can quickly see who owes what and who we owe money to. Facility to send out statements is great - and can get statements sent out in seconds.
Inconvénients
Recently, when we go online the site seems to be done due to server overload - starting to happen more often.

Allows me to see, within a few clicks, everyone that owes me money, and everyone I owe money to. Simple reporting for profit and loss and year end tax reports

Can't think of any right now. I'm a one-man-band, and this does exactly what I need it to do... Possibly, bring the self-assessment form more into line with there HMRC website requirements, this would make life a bit easier and quicker for end of year reporting

Sage One offers accounting and payroll system online for small business company. Sage One if very easy to use and process are straight-forward. By the time we are evaluating and implementing the system, Sage One team are very helpful and supportive.

Makes accounting data "cloud" accessible. Can be useful for certain professions and industries depending on your use.
Inconvénients
Finicky at best. I had purchased this in order to use in Conjunction with Sage 50 to have my accounting data accessible via an app. The software was clearly an attempt to have just that, but without any real thought behind the usability. Feels more like a quickly slapped together piece of software for marketing rather than something that has any real world usefulness. The software had difficulty uploading and updating and the App had only a handful functions. Basically, you were only able to invoice with the App but were not able to access any information. what's the point in that?

Best accounting software for recent years
My overall experience is good with sage accounting because this is the first software I used when I was in University. I found it is very easy to use and I can use this software to better manage my clients books and financial statements.
Avantages
Sage helps people with no or little accounting experience to finish their accounting jobs easily. It also helps accountant to have best connection with client because clients know what they should enter into the software and exchange information with their accountant effectively.
Inconvénients
People still find its difficult to do entries or do everything correct. In the future the accounting software might connect with the cloud to upload invoices and computer will able to scan and put things to the right account.

I'm no accountant but I had to learn how to do my own books because I run a small tutoring business and I needed something that could meet my needs and a friend recommended this software . I tried just about every freeware that I came across but this one just worked from the get go. I also like the fact that I can work from anywhere and plus it's affordable.

The number of reports and access to detail from within the reports just makes looking at the data very interesting.
Inconvénients
The videos at the home page are distracting, A simple static image would suffice, this is the only things that irritate me and I rush to get past that section... small thing but you did ask!

For consultancies the program is an utterly useless and a pain to operate.
It does not support our business in any way and the attempts of managing projects lack any form of understanding of the work.
It is at pains to appear mobile device friendly and compromises on functionality.

The Best Accounting and Costing Tool Ever.
I have been using Pastel Accounting and Pastel Payroll for the past 5 years. I have no training in Accounting practices and always had to rely on my Bookkeeper to advice and help me. Since I stumbled across Pastel My Business Online I am doing my own thing without help from anybody. The software is user friendly and written in a language that everybody understands.It allows me to make mistakes and the opportunity to rectify it without writing journal after journal. No debtors and creditors, you work with customers and suppliers - what is easier than that. When my Bookkeeper requested my documents for tax purposes I just gave them access to my system and within one hour they had all the info they need. BIG SAVING ON ACCOUNTANTS FEES. The biggest benefit for me as a small business owner is that I am in control of my cash flow everyday. NO SURPRISES AT THE END OF THE MONTH. My stock is no longer a headache because Pastel Control it for me. I don't know how I managed without Pastel My Business Online. I will use nothing else ever again.

PAYE is done accurately and pension contribution is worked out easily for you.

Easy enough to learn how to use and makes payroll stress free and easy to deal with. It works out pension contribution and PAYE is done automatically as it's linked to HMRC databese. Better than doing it manually.
Inconvénients
It crashed on paydays which left me feel nervous. It worked after 5.20pm last month which meant staff didn't get paid until the first of next month which isn't good for my accounting system.
It takes a long time to figure out how to print payroll summary for your end of year accounts and HELP section is not good at all.
It could be made much easier to navigate.

Avantages
Sage is very easy to use and there is excellent support when you get stuck on anything. Provided you input the information correctly, you can rely on Sage to churn out the correct information as you need it, with just a few clicks. It has really taken a weight of my mind in terms of dealing with the financial aspects of the business. I would recommend it to anyone with a small business.
Inconvénients
The fact that it does not know when you have put the wrong information in! I honestly can't think of anything that I do not like apart from the inability to spot human error - and it even does that sometimes. This is a real quality product.

Has security, space, processes, and organization
We have better tracking of invoices, vendors, transaction changes, banking, etc. We also do not have to have a remote desktop in order to access our accounting books. We had to with Quickbooks and that took a huge part of our time.
Avantages
It meets literally all of our needs. We need a software that can help us manage more, track more, and do more.
Inconvénients
It doesn't have to do with this software, but moving from Quickbooks to Sage was quite a process. Worth it though.

Avantages
I used Sage package for 20+ years in previous roles and found them hard to deal with in the past but for I do not know how they expect to deal with small businesses. It was better you had a dealer in between.

It doesn't offer the flexibility for small businesses that do not fit the norm and their customer support is poor.

I suggested this for a client looking to upgrade from QuickBooks as their business outgrew QB. It has versatility and can be accessed by multiple users easily. Good management and flow of information between production operations and accounting.
Inconvénients
Data reporting is not intuitive, and limits the number of windows opened. Exporting data to Excel is slow and the reports are not very user friendly.

Inconvénients
Downloading information could be better. In some areas, the results of a search are displayed, but cannot be downloaded. This would be useful as a csv to import to Excel etc.

The software is easy to use, it works well, the only down fall is that you can't process payroll on it. It would be so much easier if we could use it to process payroll.
As a small business owner and a bookkeeper - this Web based application is great - integrates with Sage 50 quite easily. I like that I don't have to install any more software onto my computer that bogs it down and makes it sluggish - Cloud stuff is great.

Its a very strong tool for billing. You can manage customers and suppliers and you have all kind of facilities to make invoices. By using the API, you can connect your own software with the aplication.
Inconvénients
Although it is a very complete software there are quite things you can't do with it, like assign a payment to multiple suppliers.

I like that my accountant can log in to my account and get what ever information she requires.
The ease of use, the way it is all set out is very intuitive.

there's nothing really that I dislike about it apart from the cost as I am only a small business but I suppose you get what you pay for and this feels like a very well thought out bit of kit

Not much as i had to support it for clients when data did not match to POS system

I was able to import automatically after dayend on POS up to Sage one and get sales and purchase figures.
Inconvénients
Would sometimes upload duplicate lines and then you would need to sift through all the data to remove duplicate lines. Also could only import certain aspects of a days trade due to being a very basic accounting package.

Overall speaking, this is an excellent accounting software for small businesses.
Avantages
This software is user friendly and doesn't take much training before you can get started. And also automatic bank feed is a very useful feature for us.
Inconvénients
The software doesn't give you warnings when there are duplicate bank transactions. Other than that, the software works pretty good.

Sage Accounting excellent choice
I use Sage for my bookkeeping business. I have been using the accounting package (in various versions) since 1995. I recommend Sage to all my new clients, even trying to recruit other bookkeeping program users to Sage, because it is so easy to import other programs into Sage. I find it easy to use, easy to get reports, and excellent for looking up and making adjustments.
Avantages
In Sage you can pin the customer or vendors name, this is invaluable to me. I do a lot of data entering using the same vendor's name, sometimes hundreds of times, this makes entering so much faster when you don't have to keep tying in the name.
Inconvénients
At this time I can not think of any. I have made mention to Sage about improvements I would like to see and they have already made the improvements.
