It seems to me that it is a very effective software in what our company needs, we have to take care of data and infrastructure that is expensive, it helps to keep all the systems clean and have a control of compliance with computer security policies, it is easy to use and allows to schedule scans so as not to interfere with regular work.

Inconvénients

I have no complaints, we have used this antivirus for years and are very satisfied with its performance.

Avantages

Symantec Endpoint Security is the main security software installed on workstations to protect against cyber threats such as viruses, data hijacking and malware in general. The software is quite fluid, lightweight and doesn't use a lot of CPU resources. Protection is excellent and has daily updates of new vaccines against malware.

Inconvénients

The software hardly showed any problems or crashes on workstations with Windows installed. We have no negatives to comment on.

Signature update are daily and update for critical vulnerabilities gets released supper quickly making the endpoints safer than peer tools.Detection and reporting are almost real time so monitoring enterprise level security posture from dashboard is considered as live data.Very light weight on resource front so not affecting user experience.

We needed something better than Windows Defender and Symantec offers centralized management, and reporting among other things. It worked well, but isn't perfect.

Inconvénients

Symantec products are generally well put together, but it did not integrate well with our Cisco security suite and so we went with Cisco's solution after some time due to the lack of centralized management from a single console.

Avantages

This software is fairly simple to deploy and update on multiple PCs, and is generally hassle-free in regards to everyday use. The different levels of protection have worked perfectly and it's essentially a "set it and forget it" type of program for our users.

Inconvénients

This software doesn't seem to play well with Windows 7 OS - at least, not in our environment. I have constantly received BSODs that point to this program when we view the logs. We're running the most recent stable version and uninstalling/reinstalling seems to only postpone the inevitable blue screen.

Symantec Endpoint Security provides strong protection for your business at a very low cost. I use it on some of my customers and have no regrets at all.

There are a lot of reasons to like Symantec Endpoint, but the reason our company chose this product is because of the broad scope of coverage from viruses, malware, and constant monitoring of our data centers.

Our company employs thousands of staff and so we knew going in that this software would not be an inexpensive software acquisition. The initial proposal was outside of our price range but after some difficult conversations and negotiations with the Symantec sales team we were able to find a product and price that suited us.

One of my favorites and I always say that I feel great knowing that it still keeps me protected. Simple network setup and easily deploy across the network.

A few years, I had to get away from this product because it was a mess, but they got back on board and corrected the problems and still is one of my favorite protection software.
They need to catch up with malware protection. I prefer that they leave the setup to easily be customized for technician's who don't want to install the firewall or data protection on their networks. This has always been a problematic software for many technicians.

Like this software because I know that they are monitoring my computer 24/7 for viruses that could infect or even destroy my data. When I review something on the web or if I click into an email, this software will immediately notify me if it is a virus and takes care of it. Since the software itself is updated daily, they are always on top of making sure that the program is able to check the latest viruses. this is very important to us, because we need our data secure and our computers working in top condition.

I really have not found anything I don't like about this program - it works behind the scene doing what it needs to do. No software is full proof, because people are always coming up with new ways to create harm and be malicious. Since using this software we have had only one case of being attacked by a virus.

Avantages

Symantec makes deployment of their software extremely simple. Automatic removal of competing products eliminates the need to figure out how to uninstall the previous product. Central management and configuration with Active Directory integration allows for an even quicker deployment based on existing organizational structure.

When we transitioned away from Symantec, our new antivirus detected A LOT of malware that Symantec had missed and/or ignored for years. We were shocked at how much was missed by a tool we had paid so much for.

Performance degradation is prominent when working with file based database engines like Visual Fox Pro . And protection against malwares and spywares are very limited at best. Compatibility with major programs are also concern. Latest version of endpoint client caused Chrome browser failure. Removal was required to make Chrome work again.

The software was very easy to deploy, the updates of versions and definitions were handled by the software automatically and it was very hands off. The console is easy to use and mostly intuitive.

Inconvénients

We would sometimes need to use a special tool to remove the software when there would be issues with it and that could be time consuming. The licensing constantly was being changed and that caused several disruptions in our business process. The product has become less useful overtime as security threats have become less "virus" and "malware" and more software exploits and escalation of privledges.

Symantec Endpoint Security is a set and forget type of software that i only need to setting it for the first time, and then it will running everything automatically. Sometime, they will sending notification is any threat are found, and i only need to choose either to delete the files or quarantine it.

Inconvénients

I have try to export the software licenses from my old computer to the new computer, the process is quite frustrating as there is no clear instruction on how to do it. I had to find information from forums and contacting the customer support for this purpose. It should be simple enough and only need a few keystroke to complete it.

Creating and publishing policies are very easy. Management tool is understandable. Installing client PCs take very short time. Client can update the policy by click "update policy".

It produces many false positive alarms. It consumes %2 of CPU (I7 MacBook Pro) and 1 GB of memory. Policy update can be only get in internal network.

This product was easy to implement throughout our company and has been working great since implementation. It send us alerts when certain events are triggered such as a user visiting a malicious site. It does a good job of keeping itself up to date and has a nice console for administrators to use and get a top-down view on how the endpoints are doing.

We have run into issues with getting licenses renewed to the point where they have expired, potentially leaving a few systems vulnerable. Customer support takes a very long time to reach and after I did reach them, they provided me with incorrect information that did not help resolve my issue. I only gave them 2 stars as opposed to 1 star because at least the customer support exists, even if it isn't the best.

Symantec Endpoint Protection is one of the most robust antivirus and anti-malware applications on the market. The centralised management make it so easy to to manage thousands of computers from a single console. This is one of the most feature rich antivirus solution I used. The process used to deploy installation to client computers is simple and straight forward. Another feature that will appease administrators is the ability to apply configurations on a mass scale.

Inconvénients

The only con I have is the automatic scanning process uses a lot of resource on the end users computer, which sometimes cause slowness.

This is the most reliable virus/malware protection software I have seen in my business life which the most of companies prefers to use it. It keeps clients as simple experience which does not have administration rights therefore you're not able to change any option. It secures within preferences your IT department set. I've been using it for 5 years on my business laptop, within this time period it detects virus/malwares without any damage.

Symantec endpoint protection is a very effective endpoint protection tool that's easy to deploy. The interface is nice and polished and it's easy to deploy the software to from this simple console to multiple devices.
The security updates occurs daily and doesn't intrude wince it's done quietly in the background.
Another very nice aspect of this software is that it has very low rate of false positive alert.
I also like how granular the security control of each component is.

I have had this protection on my personal laptop for years. It was easy to install, updates automatically and renews automatically. I have updated my laptop a few times since installing it and it was also extremely simple to transfer over to each new laptop. This is basically a set it and forget it software. In the many years I’ve used it, I’ve never had a malware issue. It’s great value for service.

Symantec usually doesn't ask questions of users and is great with blocking threats while updating behind the scenes. There are no annoying adds for upgrading software attached to it either. If you want to buy a antivirus and forget about it, Symantec might be the best solution for you. From a network security standpoint - having an administration based protection package is good if you need detailed reports and company wide alerts.

It costs money. While you might enjoy the lack of adds, and update/registration reminders, it still costs money to buy it. There are quite a few free services that are out there which provide great protection (that is if you don't mind the adds and reminders). Also, from a network administration point, I've noticed the database crashing every few weeks, so it's not terribly unstable - but there are some issues to be aware of.

Symantec Endpoint Protection in "managed" mode for Domain workstations without bogging down the system resources, and in unmanaged install for machines in the field that do not regularly connect to the building network.

Other than a few false-positives, which obviously is better than getting a virus, unless exceptions are made the Real Time protection causes time critical applications to stall or fail. Manually run full scans will stress the system resources causing a hit in productivity.

This is an industry-standard product for anyone looking for security and protection at home or work. The features are incredible and some features are not available anywhere else. Overall an awesome product

Extremely good and reliable antivirus software. Symantec, in my experience will protect your endpoints from the large majority of threats in the wild. I haven't had a threat make it past the AV client.

Endpoint protection includes network driver integration that can affect how Windows works. I've experience several problems in the past where updates to the Endpoint Protection gets updated and the network connectivity is cutoff. The client must then be completely removed and reinstalled to regain connection to the network.

The most impactful feature of Symantec Endpoint Security is the scheduled scan which on the basis of the latest AV signatures is well versed in detecting potentially malicious files.

The feature that I least like about Symantec Endpoint Security is that it detects malicious files based on just AV signatures which are being pushed via regular updates. Behavioral Analysis, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence based detection is missing in Symantec Endpoint Security unlike most of the EDR present in the market.

This software was installed by my organization administrators on all of our computers. As a user I am okay with not knowing how all the nuts and bolts work as long as I can utilize my machine the way I want to and do it safely. In over a year I have not heard of any computer at our organization getting an infection/malware! I am still able to access the internet how I would normally as well which is a big plus! (NO blocking of common social platforms or anything like that needed in my experience)

Honestly the only thing I really noticed even about this software running was a pop up that would notify me that my computer had been scanned and was clean. It was able to be closed easily so it wasn't a huge deal but it was a tiny annoyance when I was in a hurry to get onto a program when I first logged on.

It always works in the background so that one would never need to use the interface, however it protects one's computer while working and as well as surfing through the web. It allocates very little memory so does not tire the computer.

Working as a subset of a university, we are used to being on lockdown in terms of our desktops and laptops. They added the Symantec to our new desktops about a year and a half ago, and I have to say, I like it a lot better than our previous firewall/virus software. It doesn't have all of the popups that interfere with your work, and my system doesn't seem to be bogged down by the software. It's doing its job and I don't even know it's there!

I have used various types of anti viruses but i have fallen in love Symantec Endpoint Protection as it eliminated all the problems i used to have. At University of Zimbabwe , it is now the only antivirus that is used by both students and staff after a careful consideration by the University IT guys.
