I Think it is really easy to use - I did setup a sendgrid Connection to my website as my supplied IP had such bad value. It made my Communications go directly into the reciepients mailbox without any issues.
I can see what mails have been opened and what mails need attention from a easy to use web interface.

It was a bit hard to implement on my Linux server - i had to follow some tutorials and create some API keys on the sendgrid website. however when that was done it was a breeze sending through them.

Delivery rates have been excellent since I started using it. Haven't had a need to leave the free tier up to this point.

It's great that you can create individual logins that allow you to track different applications or users email activity. We use it to make sure our clients are receiving their messages and are able to help them troubleshoot if they do not receive their emails.

I don't like that you have to pay extra for more than 7 days of email activity; however, it is understandable.

Avantages

What I like most about the tool was the possibility to use HTML templates with easiness integrated with the Sendgrid API. We consume the emails directly from our code and we haven't had faced any issue.

Inconvénients

The API errors could be better documented. In our case, for instance, we configured erroneously the template id and despite this, the API response was 200 but the email never sent. Until we realised about this, lot of time was dedicated.

This product and their customer support team had an editor that could switch between code and design view that I loved and they discarded it. They advertise like the switch they made is genius and is unquestionably better. It's also frustrating how they just ignore customer issues like this, all I want is a simple way to switch between code and design view and they won't even respond to me when I ask about it.

I used to hate trying to develop any email part of an app. No matter what option I tried, it always wound up in someone's spam box and was always a clunky pain in the ass to implement. NO MORE! Popping this library in and building a generic class to wrap it with made my week.

Inconvénients

The SDK isn't super generic. It's very specific to how SendGrid works. Which I suppose makes sense from SendGrid's point of view, but from an implementation point of view... if I ever switched vendors, I'd need to redevelop more of my email class than I'd like.

If you don't need to advanced email marketing tool, it's right for you. Good user interface and good campaign editors.

After trying and testing out many SMTP services, I have found the best and highly reliable SMTP service for my emailing needs.
It definitely provides me the higher delivery rates for my marketing campaigns.

At first, I was held back by its pricing plans so decided to opt just for its SMTP services.

I'm primarily using this service as a SMTP relay and it has done very well! I was easily able to setup a API relay and confirm SPF records to make it all proper like!
To top all this off its a free service for sending less than 100 emails per day. This is fine since I use it to send out notification emails from some of my projects.

One down side I have come across is that the relay requires a user name and password and that has caused an issue with some smtp clients that only use an email and password to make the connection.

I used Sendgrid frequently when I was in a Support role at Yello, but I find myself still using the tool as a Customer Success Manager. I think it creates a great customer experience when clients reach out asking why they aren't receiving emails from Yello. I can quickly check and see if their email bounced back and the reasoning behind it.

Sometimes I found it a little hard to determine the root cause of why an email bounced back, but I think Sendgrid does a great job at providing resources to help determine the cause.

SendGrid is very easy to use for troubleshooting email delivery issues and resolving any issues when we do come across them. The dashboard is very informative and offers nice features for day-to-day management of transactional emails.

Setting up new templates can be a little confusing. They do have a visual editor for those of use that don't know html but it feels a little clunky sometimes. Additionally there are some cart before the horse workflows where you need to create items first and then go back and link them to other things after the fact.

We use this for our transactional emails, and have realized that sendgrid provides powerful tools for analysis of delivery of transactional and marketing emails. The unsubscribe feature is excellent, and ensures we remain CAN-SPAM compliant.
