Great Product
Avantages
The thing I like most about his product is it is free, but even better it can do pretty much anything the paid versions of productivity software.
Inconvénients
The only con I can think of is that sometimes it can't handle special formatting that was created in Word or Excel.

I liked the fact that it was a free program that had more features than Google Docs.

Good alternative to paid office suits
Avantages
Well it's free & opensource, so nothing to complain. It has extensions to add capabilities. I guess it can do most of what other paid solution does. Interface is similar to any other word processor or spread sheet apps, so not much of learning curve. More apps bundled to get you started.
Inconvénients
Menu & Icons not as appealing to MS. Since this is open source, there is no support.

Why pay for Microsoft Excel
Opened a file I was otherwise unable to open.
Avantages
I don't have Microsoft Excel, but received a xlsl file with password. LibreOffice opened it with no problems whatsoever and allowed me to put my password in. Super simple.

Only calculator and word programs available.

If you are in need to save some buck on licences and you do not plan to use special ms office features, it’s great alternative.
Avantages
Its completely free, has most of the functionality as ms office. Easy to install, little Or no adjustment needed to switch from MS office.
Inconvénients
When opening and editing MS office docs, some functions are missing and you might get issues with file formatting and saving that look.

A very good open source office software.
Avantages
Libre office is user-friendly and the best thing about this software is it is an open source that means anyone can use it without any limitation. You can open any file type whether it is .xls .doc or ppt all are compatible with this.

The wide array of document formats available to LibreOffice make it a very versatile tool for nearly any document type. Especially useful is the open document format that LibreOffice uses by default. Whether new or old the document just works without version conflicts.

Close to Office but Not as Good
Our office has been transitioning to Apple products and Mac OS systems, so we've been looking for alternatives to paying for Microsoft Office. We do much of our work using Google Suite but still want a non-Google option for some of our work.
Avantages
LibreOffice offers a free alternative to the Microsoft Office suite, which is helpful for small nonprofits that want to save money where they can or individual users that don't want to pay for their personal use. Especially as Office switches to an annual subscription focus, finding free alternatives is helpful. LibreOffice comes very close to mimicking Office to make it easy to switch over.
Inconvénients
If you're used to Office, it's still a hard transition to switch to LibreOffice. The functionality is basically the same, but there are some noticeably weaknesses in appearance and ease of use when compared to Office. These might be things you get used to, but it definitely makes it hard when you're first getting started.

does not always save my updaes
It works most times but will not save inputs every time. Cost me so many hours of work I am almost ready to go back to office, no I'll stop working before I do that but if. It just sucks big time losing my work so often!

does OK in most cases, but the save function does not always work as expected.
Inconvénients
Will not always save my inputs. On several occasions I have spent hours updating spreadsheets, saving it several times and when I open it again my updates age no longer there. I have started saving several times before I exit but then the updates are gone. I have lost many hours work because of this bug.

If you are working on a linux machine, this is the most appropriate software to use for word processing, spreadsheets etc

LibreOffice is completely free and does not require license to use. This makes it a very good alternative to MS Office Suite.
Inconvénients
Format/Layout is lost when opening Ms Office Suite files such as .docx.

La transazione nel passaggio da Microsoft Office a LibreOffice non è immediata. I file di LibreOffice (.odt di Writer, .ods di Calc, ecc.) sono meno diffusi in internet. Ma LibreOffice risulta utilizzabile anche su macchine Linux di relativa potenza.

E' gratuito, è una suite di applicativi (Writer per la videoscrittura, Calc per la gestione dei fogli di calcolo, Impress per la realizzazione di presentazioni, Base per la gestione di database, Draw come programma di grafica vettoriale, Math per l'elaborazione di formule matematiche)

La relativa compatibilità con Microsoft Office: i file salvati nel formato originale Microsoft e riaperti in LibreOffice appaiono formattati diversamenti. La conversione delle Macro è ostica in quanto l'ambiente Basic che è stato implementato in LibreOffice non è identico al linguaggio di Microsoft Office e risulta meno potente e intuitivo.

Inconvénients

Avantages
I love how Libre had a nice pricing principal for their product and their compatibility and functionality lend a huge hand to the MS SuperSuite of Programs.
Inconvénients
Eventually, I found that Apple's Work Suite, now Pages, Numbers, Keynote became my preferred favorite to LibreOffice when they removed pricing from the equation.

The fact that it is a free sourced software project and that it can easily be run on any computer. The compatibility with MS Office is amazing and I haven't seen any issues so far.
Inconvénients
I really wish that it had a better option for PDF file editing so that I could use it for basic PDF uses in daily work. Also if it was in a easily portable edition that could be used on a flash drive without bulk.

This is is an improvement of the popular OpenOffice--not a competition. So it's probably the best alternative to the market-monopoly-monster Microsoft Office. It's has all the features you're most likely to wish for in an office suite, although it might be a bit trickier to get onto if you're used to Microsoft Office. Also it's available on all OSes, and comes built in to many Linux distros.
Inconvénients
There isn't anything I don't like that isn't strictly because it's development team is smaller than Microsoft's, and obviously paid less.

Excellent Substitute for Microsoft Office

LibreOffice offers all the functionality of Microsoft Office Suite without the heavy licensing fee. They layout feels very familier to Microsoft Office, and is very intuitive. I had no problem switching over, and have had no compatibility issues.
Inconvénients
If you're used to Word and MS Office, there might be an initial learning curve. Other than that, I don't see any real pitfalls.

In the last eight days, LibreOffice erased about three hours of my work on a document TWICE, for no reason, and with NO action of any kind by me. The program is unreliable, defective, and essentially unusable for those who don't want to have to write the same material many times. Libre Office is a malicious and subversive program to serious writers. Beware - program is, or contains malware.

Great option for Mac Users
Avantages
LibreOffice is pretty good overall but its main benefit for me is that it allows you to open and edit Microsoft Visio documents. As you might be aware, Microsoft Visio is not part of their office for Mac suite. The fact that LibreOffice allows you to open and edit Visio files is really life-saving.
Inconvénients
If you are too used to Microsoft Office, it will take you a whole to adapt to the look and feel of LibreOffice.
