Beware - Libre office is a defective program - erases your wok with no action by user.

Program appears to operate at first. Shows defects later.
Inconvénients
In the last eight days, LibreOffice erased about three hours of my work on a document TWICE, for no reason, and with NO action of any kind by me. The program is unreliable, defective, and essentially unusable for those who don't want to have to write the same material many times. Libre Office is a malicious and subversive program to serious writers. Beware - program is, or contains malware.

Great option for Mac Users
Avantages
LibreOffice is pretty good overall but its main benefit for me is that it allows you to open and edit Microsoft Visio documents. As you might be aware, Microsoft Visio is not part of their office for Mac suite. The fact that LibreOffice allows you to open and edit Visio files is really life-saving.
Inconvénients
If you are too used to Microsoft Office, it will take you a whole to adapt to the look and feel of LibreOffice.

This is an excellent resource for users on a budget or Linux users.
Avantages

Good free alternative
As a student I needed to make a Science fair project and I used LibreOffice to create mine as I went one with the presentation I was having trouble with things that should have been simple. Near the end of it I found it necessary to switch to PowerPoint because I was starting to get frustrated with the software
Avantages
Libre Office is a very good alternative to Microsoft office for starters its free and has nearly all of the features that Microsoft has to offer, not to mention it is compatible with other softwares. It is great for students who cannot pay for Microsoft Office. Needless to say this product has good value
Inconvénients
Unfortunately when compared to Microsoft office it falls behind in performance and reliability. During my time using it I found that it was lacking features that i needed to make my presentation. Another problem that i found is that it is not as intuitive as its paid counterpart.

Very nice free alternative
Overall I really like it and I've been using it for everything from work documents to personal ones and I will probably keep using it

Best alternative to equivalent paid text editors. I've used it for years now and I have to say that is getting better and better every year. The features are totally equivalent to the most famous ones..
Inconvénients
Especially in previous versions it was a little buggy and cpu/memory intensive but now is getting better. Also it does not offer all the features of the competitor but since it is free I don't expect it to do it

More aggressive user friendliness needed
It was good but not fast and user-friendly. But, It is a very good alternative if price point is considered.
Avantages
It is open and free. It has almost the same capabilities and features as Microsoft office. It is compatible with all platforms and can edit pdf.
Inconvénients
Sometimes, It is very hard to find needed functionality menus. For example, if you type a formula in Microsoft Excel, it gives you all the related formulas to choose from but, it is very difficult in libreoffice.

Great Open source alternative
Avantages
Libre office is open source and provides all the functionality of other more popular office software, it has the ability to open existing MS office documents as well.
Inconvénients
The user interface isn't quite as intuitive and easy to use as the MS office alternative, but for an open source price of software it is more than sufficient

I have used LibreOffice on and off again when I (or my clients) did not have access to alternative software and it worked perfectly!
Avantages
I really like how LibreOffice makes workplace software more accessible with its low cost and quality products.
Inconvénients
LibreOffice looks a little older than some of its competitors, but it is still quite stylish and easy to use.

Works just as well as Microsoft and its free!
Avantages
We use Libre Office on a secondary computer in our office. We did not want to spend the money to but the whole Microsoft Suite for a computer that isn't used as much. So our computer guy and one of our main software companies recommended LibreOffice. It was a great idea. Most documents are easily converted from Microsoft Office to Libre, and back, which makes it really convenient.
Inconvénients
It was a little hard to get the hang of at first, since I having been using Microsoft office for 20+ years. But a few tutorials within the program and on you tube really helped. There are things that I am still figuring out, but overall, not really any cons that I have found yet.

Does the job well despite being freeware
Overall an excellent word processor despite being freeware.
Avantages
Overall Libre office is excellent. It has most of the features that you would need out of a office suit but doesn't cost money. I can't think of any noteable feature that is lacking in Libre Office products. For the casual user it works perfectly fine.
Inconvénients
Being freeware it probably lacks a feature that Microsoft Word has. Libre Office is great though so I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Avantages
For basic excel related tasks it is more than enough. It has a comprehensive suite of features that will aid you in your work while working with tables and large amount of data. And it is free so better have it then not.
Inconvénients
It is not very intuitive as you would find MS Excel. Features for data sciences are lacking.

It's free and has many features. I like the simple interface of the LibreOffice. It's easy to use and multi language software.

I found some compatibility issues. It has different look and it took me a while to get use to it as was using MS Office previously.

Excellent option when searching for a free office suite!
In an old job we always recommended LibreOffice as an option to our users who didn't want to spend the money on Microsoft Office.
Avantages
Free to download. Compatible with Office and Google Docs. For the average user this software has all of the features you need to make Professional Documents, Spreadsheets, and Slideshow Presentations.
Inconvénients
Very large installation file. Can take a while to download over a slower internet connection. The UI isn't the prettiest.

Way much worse than others
Avantages
That program was pre-installed at my laptop and I had to start working with docs immediately. That was a really bad experience, I’ve had to use google documents instead of that program.
Inconvénients
So hard to use, especially after a long-time if using the Microsoft office. Very strange, inconvenient location of the functions, just illogical.
Also I’ve had a lot of problem to convert it for another devices - every document was unreadable, so I’ve wasted a lot of time.

Great Free Option
Our experience has been great setting this up for use on cloud instances. It allows us to quickly and easily get an office suite of software onto a machine without having to worry about licenses.
Avantages
This option is a great free alternative to Microsoft Office licenses and includes a lot of the same functionality. It also is much friendlier in passing documents between Windows and Linux based machines.
Inconvénients
There wasn't anything overall I disliked about the software. I would hope that more persons see the value in having access to the free software.

Avantages
The only reason to use it is that it's free . It is also open source, which means that interesting improvements happen fairly often . Does basic text file or spreadsheet work seamlessly .

Terrible at processing images on the text file part of the office package. Also , it looks like MS Office ,without being able to do everything Office can .

Great alternative to OpenOffice for Linux users
I can have a free fully functional Office suite on my Ubuntu machine, which prevents me from having to switch to a Mac or a PC to do office work.
Avantages
LibreOffice is a lot more user friendly than OpenOffice. It contains a full office suite for free, and several Linux distros come with it already installed.
Inconvénients
LibreOffice does not support VBA macros, which is very inconvenient for some users, and it can be very buggy.

If you are looking for a good office kit, offline and free, then this is for you.
Avantages
Microsoft Office compatibility is currently good. It has a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation editor. It is free.
Inconvénients
Old look and some features are not as intuitive as in similar programs. You need to look for online tutorials.

FOSS (Free and Open Source) alternative to the MS Office Suite
Avantages
It is a really cool initiative and in my opinion, this would also help to curb piracy at a lot of places. Now people have an alternative which is actually as powerful as the Office Suite. It comes by default with some versions of Ubuntu and the UI is also pretty intuitive.
Inconvénients
It does not have much things to dislike, but if you are coming from the MSOffice environment, you might miss a few extended functionalities

Very good surrogate for Microsoft Word
It has been a useful tool for writing projects and for adding images or drawings to documents.
Avantages
It is easy use and has a few additional features for writing documents than Microsoft Word. Easy for students to use, too. Many enjoy using the drawing feature.

I never knew it existed
Avantages
Suddenly it appeared to my logic, and having used Microsoft Office my entire life, I was surprised I would enjoy Libre Office, the free edition doesn't have the same features as a MS would have but I enjoy using this.

It is free to use. You can download and install the applications quickly, no need of license.

Great Replacement of Microsoft Office
Avantages
The best feature of this software is simply it's free. It costs nothing to download and install. In addition, if you already have Microsoft Office, LibreOffice can read those files. It doesn't cost anything to give it a try.
Inconvénients
While it comes with a replacement for nearly every program in Microsoft Office, the one it does not have a replacement (and the reason I still use MO) is Outlook (an email client)

Avantages
LibreOffice is a great ,free,open source alternative to MS Office . I think it actually handles pdf files better and has a better developed spell check .
Inconvénients
Opening files that have previously been worked on MS Office often leaves them looking like a mess .The subsequent formatting that you need to do ,is difficult and frustrating .

A good and free document reader/editor
Avantages
The first and the foremost - it is free. It supports a lot of functionalities as the rival, paid software. We use it on some machines which don't have commercial licenses. For everyday work with the documents, LibreOffice offers more than enough functionalities for an average, but even an advanced user.
Inconvénients
Even though it supports a lot of formats out of which some are shared with paid rivals, it is not always 100% compatible, as it should be. In my example, there is a department which uses paid commercial software to create some documents, which they send to our department, which uses LibreOffice. Even though the format is the same, the content is not always the same. In some situations the document doesn't visually look the same, in a way that some elements are not rendered properly.

A good Plan B
Avantages
LibreOffice is a good alternative of Microsoft Office ,mainly because it's free to use . It has equivalents of the more popular programs you'll find in the MS package and they work well enough
Inconvénients
The Base Database tool requires a lot of manual data entering . The end product almost never properly reflects the info you put in .

Free alternative office applications
I used to use it when I was at a small company. It was free and no need any license.
Avantages
It's good for small businesses and looks like Microsoft Office. LibreOffice less than Microsoft Office but it gives you almost all opportunities as much as Microsoft. You can create spreadsheets with formulas and images. It's free and you save money by the way.
Inconvénients
Sometimes it's a problem when you convert files for another devices or import from Microsoft. After importing some formulas can import to Libre exactly.

Gets the job done and the price is right
Avantages
It’s free, open source, and cross-platform and doesn’t require an account. Definitely an option for those who don’t want to pay for a license to other desktop productivity suites.
Inconvénients
It felt clunky. It loaded slowly and it didn’t have the polish I would want from software I’m using long term. Definitely harder to make the argument for it in a world of online platforms that outperform LibreOffice in spades (at the expense of registration)

Free Office Package
Great for quick or long term task, ease of access writing tool, and a nice companion for all kinds of writing and editing.
Avantages
First of all, it's free! I can access it anytime on my laptop whenever there is an urgent task to do or whatnot. It's nice to have these kinds of apps nowadays, quick access software for a fast-paced world.
Inconvénients
None at the moment. Lags are mostly from my computer and ISP so not really an issue on their part.

Perfect Office Suite
Avantages
We use this as a replacement for Microsoft Office and wow it does everything and more for free. It's been perfect for what we need and it even lets us export to formats that are more familiar with our outside users.
Inconvénients
Maybe a better auto updater? It seems a bit out of date for an updater, wish it was a bit more seamless.

Libre Office is so easy to use for writing, editing, and crafting polished messages. The intuitive format with dropdowns and tools that make the writing process a breeze. No more toolbars with a million choices, but easy choices that real making the writing process sharp and effective
Inconvénients
There should be more options for font and formatting in the app. Also, I wish there was a way to collate documents together more efficiently.

A fast and light software
Avantages
It works with any operating system keeping the same graphic aspect and functionality, it's free, its
license allows you to use it on all the PCs you want at no cost.
Inconvénients
A period of adaptation is necessary, since the buttons and functions are not in the same place within the interface. The new menus mislead more than one, in some cases, we make changes, save, close and reopen and do not find margins in the same place or tabulations

It is a great replacement for Microsoft Office 365, which is not free. It is easy to download and use instantly.

It is easy and free to download on both Mac and Windows. It supports multiples types of files from other programs including documents, spreadsheets, and presentations making it easy to share files among colleagues.
Inconvénients
It has some limited features and customizable options, but still gets the job done.

Avantages
O que mais gosto no LibreOffice é a facilidade de você criar documentos e a praticidade no dia a dia de trabalho.
Inconvénients
Há muita dificuldade em compartilhar arquivos na nuvem e acessá-los offline, isso é um problema pra quem abre arquivos no computador e no celular.

I use Libre Office for writing letters, taking notes, creating spreadsheets that I can filter and calculate, and for creating presentations for my business. I've had success in using the different programs to enhance the professionalism of my business.
Avantages
I love being able to perform data filtering and calculations using the spreadsheet function. This has been a huge help in my financial services business.
Inconvénients
I would like to be able to do more with visual graphics and photographs. Right now I feel my abilities are limited.
