Symantec Endpoint Security

Avantages

This is, by far, my favorite computer security program. Installing is a breeze and updating is just as easy. The interface is user-friendly and the color scheme is easy on the eyes. I think it protects my computer well, as I've been using this software for over 10 years and my computer is still kicking.

Inconvénients

Updates sometimes fail to install or download correctly, but you just have to try it again.

Avantages

It installs easily, updates and scans quickly. There is the ability to add custom firewall rules to open up ports for certain types of software.

Inconvénients

Recent compatibility issues with windows 10. After the latest creators update windows automatically removed the software from my laptop without asking me. I am sure there is a newer version that is compatible, just need to track it down now.

Avantages

Symantec is a very well known product, it's reputation speaks volumes amount IT managers and even myself as an endpoint user. It's nice to know the software is in place in order to protect us personally and professionally. The virus scans and updates were running in the background as not to disrupt daily productivity.

Inconvénients

I do not have any complaints about this software.

I am in love this product it has proactive approach in detecting threat i.e. it provides advanced protection against unknown threats.
This software do deep scanning for viruses, malware and spyware detection.
Also, it provides live updates and hence help in detecting latest threats to the system.

Inconvénients

The only backdrop is its cost.
For smaller organisations it is bit costly but is cost effective for larger organisations.

It is a silent clod based solution that keeps my computer safe.

For me it is a good software, without downsides.

We used it to keep 200+ employees' computers safe, the setup was relatively easy and automatic updates ensured all computers were protected against new threats.

There were some obstacles to get over, more of a learning curve with certain websites or extensions being blocked.

As end user, sometimes I have some trouble when trying to install new apps.

It is the best antivirus for Servers.
It has best managibility for users.
It works really silently.

Inconvénients

As usual it slows down Server by 10% compared to other at 5-6%.
Why all updates are not automatic updates, everytime we have to do virus definition update manually.
Few features are there which can be made more user friendly.

Avantages

We have used it for many years for our local offices and it's worked great, no false positives I've seen and it has stopped several viruses from spreading.

Inconvénients

Once we tried deploying it to a very large quantity of locations we ran into major problems with it not working correctly and spent a lot of time working with support without making much progress on fixing the issue.

Symantec Endpoint Protection provides many features, including Real Time scanning, Host IPS, Spyware and Virus Protection, DLP. Installation process is straight forward. Threats updated regularly with almost zero end user interaction.

Processor load during the scan, so sometimes it slows down computer.

Avantages

Peace of mind when running this kind of firewall for applications and networks. Simply set up rules once off and group users by domain , thereafter have assurance that every network endpoint is being monitored.

Inconvénients

May be a little intrusive at times when there is an overlap of rules. Works on method of using least privileges . Once the correct skills are put in place though, it is a breeze to set up.

Avantages

The ability of SEP to integrate well with other Symantec tools like DLP, CASB and the other entire suite is great! Additionally, Symantec is a known vendor for a big dictionary of known malware hashes which prevents major virus outbreaks.

Inconvénients

Symantec integrates well but only with Symantec suite of tools. In my experience, Symantec's integration with other vendors is relatively bad in comparison with its competing vendors.

Avantages

The software is easy to install, configure and use. It has blocked 100% of the intrusion attempts into our network and has stopped all viruses in their tracks!

Inconvénients

I really don't have any negative comments about this software other than it would be nice to have more detailed information on intrusion attempts such as the IP address the intrusion is coming from.

I love the fact that when I login to my computer and Symantec starts up it means that I am safe. I don't have to worry about security threats, viruses, etc when I carry out my day-to-day business in today's online world. Symantec has saved me from potential threats multiple times.

No cons. You need this product for your business.

In today's world you need Extra Protection with your computer it's no telling what link you can click with a person could hack inside your computer and bring all kinds of viruses this helps with that

Symantec Endpoint protects our data and application. The Symantec Manager is installed on the server and agents are installed on employees workstation. The update process is very fast and centralized. I.T Managers are also empower to implement and manage workstation via policy.

Inconvénients

The software is easy to install and manage, just take consideration of the number of workstation to be installed for the license concern.

-Firewall that can as web filtering software with customized rules for ports, links and domains.
-Managing Workstation resources and ports is so great feature.
-Automatic reporting at your hand whenever you need.

Annual fees is somehow expensive when you have large number of workstations to be managed.
sometimes you need to push the group policy (Rules) manually to managed workstation if you updated it and don't need to wait until automatic update but it is not a big deal.

I've tried out several anti-virus programs and Symantec remains the best on the market. It's a clean user interface and easy to schedule scans on a regular basis.

Symantec is the most expensive protection program I've found, but it's also the best overall. It does slow down Outlook when loading up the program.

Symantec Endpoint Protection is a very feature-rich product. We use its virus protection and firewall features. I like that you can have different firewall configurations according to your location (internet, office, vpn, etc.) It is easy to manage (at least as a user) with a good user interface and it seamlessly update the virus definitions.

When scanning the computer it uses a lot of the system resources.

This AV tool is great for larger businesses. The admins can push out updates, policies and so on from one console. Licenses made easy via the server.

Inconvénients

When moving from one provider to another, it's best to use a removal tool from the previous provider. You could end up with two anti virus products on your system and wonder why it's running slow. As a result, moving systems can be a time consuming task.

I liked that the updates are very fast and the UI is nice. The firewall is quite agressive

I did not liked the program is heavy on computer resources, if you don't have a powerful computer it will slow you down.

Saved my files many times with suspicious flash memory sticks that were carrying malicious viruses. It was easy for me to run a scan, restrict the virus and clean the stick. Before discovering this program I had faced many disasters!

Perhaps when depicting the virus caught I would like it to be more clear. The graphics are awful and small fonts.

Easy remote deployment across our network, quick to update and monitor. Ability to set exclusions, as well as know we have a good line of defense against intrusions on PCs within our network.

Inconvénients

Tends to be a lot of false positives on end users computers when downloading software. Sometimes makes it difficult to install software, and we have to disable protection to actually install.

Avantages

I did not enjoy this software. I do not think it did an adequate job of virus protection. It also gives frequent pop-ups that are difficult to disable

It is very rooted in computer, and difficult, near impossible, to uninstall. I had a lot of difficulty when I wanted to transition to a different antivirus

The Reputation Symantec has as a Security provider is really important since they have provided threat protection since the 90s and they only increase their coverage every year.

It is a bit resource consuming and sometimes it makes the computers reduce their performance, wish they made it more lightweight.
