I liked how at first, the platform seemed so nondescript. When I got to use it more, that is when I realized just how powerful Apify was. It helped me create multiple projects, and all of them required a way to automate my research. The platform also allows you to customize how you extract the data, what format will you export it to, and options to select which data from the dataset you wish to export to avoid adding fluff to your output.

Inconvénients

I wish there was a way to integrate its API with OpenAI's API, that way I could integrate this part of the process with an LLM tool and streamline the overall operation even more.

Nothing, i have not found any useful about this product, since i was not able even to setup the account an use within an organization

3) maintenance - the fact that containers i use are always up to date made me abandon my own custom scripts
4) magic proxy management - this is the last thing i want to do manually or even think about, and yet it is the most crucial part

Not actually an apify problem, but i have a couple of usecases where i really would have wanted a fast responce which i'm not entirely sure how to achieve now.

I liked the large set of ready-made actors, their flexible configuration and the ability to easily obtain data via API, as well as the availability of renewable credits to try the service played a decisive role in my choice.

The only thing I didn't like was that you can't buy as many credits as you need. Instead, you have to buy the minimum plan, which is too much for my needs.

It's like an app store for scrapers (and more) - no company on it's own could make so many amazing scrapers, but Apify's business model is genius, and that's why there's so many great tools at a great price (for many of them).

Sometimes the best actors are behind a rental paywall - but I can't even get mad at that because the best coders will want to be reimbursed well.

Its really easy and straightforward to start using Apify platform, the documentation is great. And bonus for webscraping is the open-source Crawlee library, that made my scraping experience 10x faster than doing it the old school way.

On Apify platform I miss using custom docker images (builds I built myself or in GitHub Actions pipeline), but thats managable.

There are a lot options to customize the web crawling and scraping solutions, it is great to see there is a lot of automatization for workflow integration.

The time it takes to run an actor is a major bottleneck(restarting actor every time a request has been made) when working with limited RAM, with new Standby mode I am excited to test whether that can be addressed.

First of all i am impressed on how easy it is to get started even for new beginners . Apify also is easy to understand hence do not consume most of your time . It is also very easy to set up for your project , scrappers and APIs

I can not state of any dislike as for now because apify has really been of great help to me and my colleagues

That it makes scraping websites for knowledge data very easy. It provides structured files that can be easily used for RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) AI applications. It's a perfect match.

Inconvénients

Some of the so called "actors" that encapsualte the functionality of automatic scraping of social media platforms (for example LinkedIn or Twitter) are sometimes not working reliably. Also some of the paid actors are really very expensive. These should be better curated by the platform owners to ensure everything that is offered is working as advertised.
