Scheduling Software

Avantages

Easy to deploy, easy for staff to leave comments on shifts in notes section.

Inconvénients

The look/feel/ux is really the only downside to this app. The tools within it are great.

Community Pool - perfect for lifeguard and snack bar staff scheduling!

We started using ShiftPlanning in 2014 and love it. As a community pool, we have limited funds, so we had been managing schedules with pen and paper. Until now. One of the board members found ShiftPlanning and it has exceeded our expectation on many levels. ShiftPlanning not only manages the daily lifeguard, snack bar and front desk schedules, it also allows staff members to trade shifts; to "give up" and "grab" shifts that come available; tracks vacations; allows us to require staff to sign-in at the pool which serves as a time stamp for clocking-in/-out of a shift; downloads hours to Quicken (and other financial reporting apps) for payroll; allow us to send e-mails to specific types of workers. Additionally, the customer service at ShiftPlanning is very supportive, responsive and professional.

easy to use; lower cost; fantastic customer support; great value; robust; flexible

Inconvénients

Can't think of a con. Only comment is that ShiftPlanning was difficult to find - we had to delve deep into Google search to find this app. Glad we persevered.

Humanity Recently TRIPLED in Price!

Avantages

At this point I see no "pro's".

Inconvénients

Humanity has lost all good will by tripling its pricing with 14 days notice!

Common business practice, like with their AWS upgrade, would have been to make multiple attempts to notify its customer – including using its chatbot that pricing was going from $33/month to $100/month. This was not done. Sneaky to say the least….

We will be looking for a new service provider.

Easy to Use and Full of Features!

A lovely service that is equipped with strong features and an easy to use interface. My TV/Film Production company has been using Shiftplanning for 2+ years and being able to not only have time-track hours, but also schedule shifts, have pay-rates increase or decrease based on either location and or time of the day, ability to keep overtime in check, and integrate our favorite calender for event scheduling is a huge benefit for our company.

I used a few applications before, but compared to Shiftplanning, they seem like beta software limited by under developed features and poor support.

We will continue to use Shiftplanning for many years as long as they continue to develop their already fantastic service, support, maintain competitive pricing.

Bugs and non-existent customer support

My company has been using this app for three years now - we reported repeatedly a few malfunctions and they never came back with anything more than "Thanks we will work on it" and the nothing happens. Problems range from sms not working to wrong break management.
We keep using it just because it's not a mission critical app and it's cheap, but when we find some time we will look for a better one.

Humanity is a terrific value!

Overall Humanity offers the best "bang for your buck". I've researched all the competition and they far exceed others in the market. There is still room for improved and enhanced functionality, I have hope they will dominate in the next few years.

Avantages

Ease of use and functionality. The staff is pretty responsive and there are a good amount of online resources. The app works flawlessly and the desktop version is very intuitive and user friendly.

Complete control for updating user preferences and passwords is a great feature!

Inconvénients

There is still room for improvement. For example, employee time cards are difficult to use - it would be great if there were a multi step process where employees and supervisors can approve timesheets.

Similarly, the vacation time tracking is a nightmare.

Many options, very flexible, solves a MAJOR scheduling headache

If you have multiple locations, with multiple shifts, and multiple workers with specific skill sets. if you need to know who can work a specific location and who can't. If you need to know the availability of your resources. If you want your workers to be able to clock in using their phone, or be sure they are clocking in from a specific geographical location. If you want employees to be able to offer up their shifts to only equally qualified employees.

I could go on, but you get the point. THIS is the application.

Great product, but diminishing value and poor support.

Generally good. But lacking is some usability features, such as lack of formatting options for printing a daily schedule in the time frame that we are open.

Avantages

Schedule management is the highlight feature for this product.

Inconvénients

We were informed this week that our monthly cost was doubling due to a minimum monthly charge. We are a small business and every dollar counts. Will now be looking for another solution.

Best scheduling software out there!

I spent many months looking for scheduling software, even after having trialed ShiftPlanning once as we wanted to make sure we had the best option out there. After having used many different solutions, there was no software that could compete in my opinion with Shiftplanning. We were using Excel to schedule for the last 10-12 years and as we continued with steady growth, the excel sheet just became unmanageable. My employees didn't like the fact of how difficult the schedule was to read on Excel as we continued to grow the staff and a short while after implementing ShiftPlanning to my team; we implemented it with another team to be able to track who is on shift for escalations.

Avantages

ShiftPlanning is extremely easy to use. We easily grabbed our Excel schedule and added it into ShiftPlanning. Making changes to the schedule takes less time than before! Schedule views are awesome and make for a quick verification.

Inconvénients

Some of the new features that come out are hard to keep track of.

Work App Schedule

Overall, I love this app because it helps me to know when its time to work, it lets me pick my own hours, there's a schedule listed with the hours I chose and see upcoming shifts.

Avantages

I like that it shows the time and hours that are available to a person to work. Another thing that is really like is that you are able to drop shifts if something else comes up etc.. I also like that it shows your hours through a Shift Planning schedule. I also really like that it notifies me 24 hours before I have work.

Inconvénients

They could improve on adding Hawaii's time to Humanity, because of this app being made on the mainland somewhere makes the time off to when its time to work in Hawaii.

Great scheduling

Younger employees love the app. Shifts can be requested quickly.

Avantages

Push notifications. Ability to upload multiple shifts at once. Message board is a good way to communicate with employees you don't cross paths with often.

Inconvénients

Smartphone based which older employees don't like or take advantage of all features. Hard to have multiple admins.

An amazing Scheduling system

We use shiftplanning for scheduling purpose in our Call Center since more then 2 years and are not planning to change soon. It's not only a scheduling tool as you can also manage your payroll, training and your staff files through it. It's a complete system handle by a proactive and efficient team.

Easy to use, Customization, Customer service, Customer Support, Amazing Team, affordable cost, Webinars, Messaging system

Inconvénients

No possibility to give a 5 minutes delay period before the clocking in is considered lates with the Timeclock tool would be my only complaint at this time.

Very easy to navigate, and very useful. I use it often

Avantages

What I like the most is how shows the sum of the hours worked per week and per day and how you can change your availability. I also like the layout overall, everything is easy to find and understand without needing to ask for clarification.

Inconvénients

I like how I'm able to click on the date that I'm working on and have it show the amount of hours everyone is working that day. I dislike how this can only be done for the day of instead of future days.

Work Place Shiftplanning

My experience with this was checking my shifts. I added my basic information but other than that I didn't input anything. I loved having it on my phone.

Avantages

I like that I can have it on my phone and on my computer. I will put my shifts in a nice day to day list and is color coded on what position I will be at. It was easy to ask for a day off. I loved that you could see weekly along with monthly. I could look at just my sections shifts along with seeing everyone else's shifts.

Inconvénients

I haven't experienced any downsides in the two years that I have used it.

Big Fan!

We have been using shiftplanning for almost three years now to schedule our 60 - 160 staff for Adventure, Recreation, Aquatics, and Customer Service positions across three sites and we are BIG FANS. Our multiple schedulers and many staff all find the web-based software incredibly convenient, intuitive, and user-friendly. Many of our staff have the app, which is great for checking their schedule but does not have the request feature and a few other features available on the full , web version. Love the color-coding! Thanks Shiftplanning! Looking forward to many more years of scheduling together! :-)

It was much better before they "improved" it

We had been using this software for years. They decided to change everything about it, making it harder for all my employees. We have switched to a cheaper system that provides better support, more robust schedule building templates, and greater connectivity to employees. Thank you for ruining your software so I had a reason to find someone better.

They are great at taking your money.

Inconvénients

scheduling is rigid and unable to accommodate atypical (non-weekly) schedules. User interfacing is lacking. Customer service is slow, and makes promises they are not authorized to keep.

We use this to seamlessly manage shifts for 60 part time employees

We have 60 part time employees that fulfill a dozen different roles. Our schedule is complex. This tool has helped simplify the schedule and the time it takes to manage it.

Avantages

This tool allowed us to move to the next level in supporting and scheduling student employees. We were using another tool and it was fine, this one gave more flexibility and far better reporting. It also allowed us to delegate management of schedules to team leads.

Inconvénients

We have run into a couple of problems over the past several months with reports. Support has been very good in identifying and fixing those reports quickly.

IFAP Humanity Review

IFAP has been using the system for several years, now. It has been excallent for our 40+ staff to edit their availability, check out the shifts they are rostered on for and make changes themselves. The smart phone app is very handy

Avantages

It is quick, easy and convenient. I like how I can see who else is available for a shift in one click.

Inconvénients

I still feel it should be pushing updates through the app, not relying on e-mail. Relying on notifications through e-mail is not the greatest and it still won't sens SMS because we are in Australia

Life Changer

Humanity has saved me so much time. I don't know what I would do without it. The Amion program is being pushed by my company's upper administration because it is cheaper. So, I hope I'm not forced to leave you guys because of money. I am trying to show them how easy your application is to use. I am hoping once they see that, others in the company will want to use Humanity for scheduling their providers and drop Amion. However, that's iffy. Do you guys have a corporate discount that would be a flat fee instead of a fee based on number of employees? Novant Health is the 31st largest healthcare system in America. If I could get them to use Humanity instead of Amion for scheduling all of the healthcare providers who do shift work, it would be a sizable amount.

Wow, what a difference.

Mt Baker Camp has been using this software (Shiftplanning) since the end of 2013.
We use for managing all levels of staffing.
We track hours worked, HUGE advantage in allowing employees & volunteers to see when they are scheduled multiple weeks ahead of time.
At the end of the year it's easy to run reports to show how many total hours where contributed.

Avantages

Time Clock - for payroll processing this is a life-saver (going from paper punch clock & card swiping)
Scheduler / Calendar.
Lots of training material & how-to-do's.

A great way to schedule staff

We have been using Humanity and Shiftplaning for the last 3 years and love it. It has been easy to use, customizable to our complicated company needs and most importantly helpful to our staff. The ability for staff to update there availability on the fly and check there schedule via mobile has been huge. Its intuitive from the moment you start using it. Overall its been a wonderful program that we use everyday.

A step in the right direction

A great company to work with and a great tool

We moved to this product over another because of the additional features. It is so much easier to schedule large number of employees with very unique shift requirements. It handles it great.

Inconvénients

Some of the reporting didn't work initially for our unique circumstances. They have been good to try new things, but it still isn't a 100%.

Saves time, frustration and money

I researched several options and ShiftPlanning offered everything on my wish list for a price within my budget. All the pre-sale promises proved to be true once I began using ShiftPlanning. I reduced time spent scheduling by 75%. The employees praised the introduction of ShiftPlanning.

Avantages

The online chat support is quick to respond and is backed up with online documentation and videos. The software is very intuitive and the support team was very helpful in getting me up and running. After that I needed minimual support.

My second favorite feature is the "Availablity" function. Staff can block out either a recurring day of the week, time of day or a specific date. This eliminated scheduling errors for everyone.

Inconvénients

The product is designed for online use by the Scheduler and employees. I also like to post a printed copy of the schedule. The filter function allows significant flexibility when printing but I'd like to see more control over the page breaks when printing the schedule.

Shiftplanning is easy to use.

I like the ease of use of Shiftplanning - - it's easy to set-up an employee and to add them to a schedule.

Inconvénients

Not all of the "functions" are where I would expect them to be, but once I learned my way around the website, it's easy to use.

Easy to use system for scheduling and time keeping.

Avantages

The global scheduling and time keeping is great. We like having everything in one system. The ability to upload files is a great asset as well as the company dashboard for quick communication.

Inconvénients

The mobile app has some limited features that make checking schedules of others complicated. There some occasional issues with the system going down during business hours.

Great tool for creating team schedules!

We use it to build schedules for our entire team and keep track of time cards

It’s easy and user friendly. Allows us to quickly build schedules and move things round like building blocks. It also has a great system for keeping track of time cards.

It would be cool to have the option of making multiple schedules within one organization and adding it for other teams to view.

Terrible way to conduct business

I was completely disappointed in this software. I was assured when I first tried it and then paid for a 6 month subscription that I would be able to create a custom report for my staff's availability. I even sent a copy of the report I created manually to show what I needed. It wasn't until I got all of my staff entered etc and tried to create the report which I was not able to to do. I was told by my "client success specialist" that the custom report I needed was not an option on their platform. I was also told if I needed help she was not available until the following Monday to help me. This was on a Thursday. What? Some customer service. So when I realized this is not the scheduling software for me, they refused to refund my money (I paid for 6 months). They just sent an email with the verbiage of their billing practice..no refunds. I would strongly suggest you utilize their free month to make sure it works. In my case, I went on blind faith that the initial "support" person told me it would work for us. It's bad enough that it didn't work, but then to so coldy inform me I cannot get a refund...well that is the reason I am taking the time to write this review. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't do that. It's a terrible way to do business - not giving a refund if the product doesn't meet our needs. Seems pretty simple to me.

Good software for time clock

We really just use this to give our employees a way to clock in & out, and print their weekly hours reports, and it works very well for that. We don't use the scheduling or advanced options. The only thing I really would like to see different is a more customizable way to track vacation & sick time, for a pre-set bank that is customizable for each worker.

Gives managers like myself more time to do more productive work.

ShiftPlanning has been great for us as a company. We moved from spreadsheets to ShiftPlanning and it helped us manage our schedules better. It gave us a better view of our operations as a whole and helped see where we needed to make adjustments quicker. The self-service for employees is great as this gets them to be a part of the work of scheduling by submitting their availability and day off requests. It definitely keeps us more organized. It is very efficient to use and gives managers like myself more time to spend on other big impact projects!

Works great for any size business

Humanity is a great tool to add to your business, to create and maintain schedules, as well as monitor labor costs.

Avantages

The interface is really easy to navigate and understand as you manage your schedules. You can drag and drop shifts around too, which makes switching schedules super easy. I also like how everything is color coded so it's even easier to identify different departments' schedules.

Inconvénients

The only con I can think of is that it does require $80 per month as a minimum, even though it is only $3 or $4 per user, per month, depending on the amount of features you require. But you still have to meet the minimum which may not be ideal for small businesses who have less than 25 users. If you have a bigger staff, then this is an unbeatable option!

Sufficient scheduling tool

Avantages

It is easy to view the information needed. For example, the schedule can be viewed in multiple views so you can pick one to your liking

Inconvénients

We have not used it to it's full capacity. I'm sure there is far more functionality that I don't know about

Overall it has been a great user friendly experience, however not a fan of the recent price...

Avantages

I love that you can start and stop the service, as we are a seasonal business. I enjoy the easy to use features like copying a schedule, pictures of employees and being able to upload a whole list of employees at once. I love the easy reporting systems for quick reference. The customer service is great, and I love the chat feature.

Inconvénients

The price per person is outrageous and you can find comparable products on the market for less. I would not pay that, but I am locked in at a lower rate. I wish you could disable multiple employees at once. It would be great if they would develop a flat rate monthly fee for seasonal business such as firework stands, corn mazes, Christmas tree farms etc. I know lots of people looking for something like that.

WE have multiple crews on different job sites so this software helps us to keep track them

Without this software we would probably have to use a large table and a map with 20 figurines to track up to 6 crews working on jobs all over the country. Each day (or sometimes hour) when I get a call asking for a date to change or the project scope to increase or decrease we would have to dump the table over and start again.

Avantages

Visually it is very clear and easy to read. It is also very reliable and we have had no problems. Thanks

Inconvénients

It's definitely set up more for shift work than multiple job coverage. I'm not sure if we will be able to use this if we continue to grow our number of crews

Great Tool, was very good when I started using it 2 years ago, has only gotten better

I've been using Humanity for over 2 years, and can't imagine staffing without it. Very useful tool that I've recommended it to several people.

Great for time off requests, availability breakdowns and visualizing the schedule quickly and easily

Inconvénients

Some basic features missing: ability to unfill all shifts, ability to copy shifts to different positions, ability to discount break times, ability to.

"Oh, The Humanity!" :0D

Our retail food business has saved much scheduling time and effort since adopting the Humanity platform in 2016. Not to mention the fact that our team has benefited greatly in communicating with one another through Humanity. Shiftplanning Review

Avantages

Easy to keep track of employees shifts. Can list hundreds of different projects and hundreds of employees with many variables on how you can view this information. Keeps you really well organized.

Inconvénients

Sometimes the settings can be confusing as there are a lot of different variations of settings. Also having multiple logins, the settings are confusing.

Great software!

Overall, I had a great experience with this software.

Great Customer Service and Great Program

Shiftplanning took my company out of the stoneage of spreadsheet schedules to interactive and well organized scheduling software. We manage 27 locations within 15 miles of each other with a staff population of about 550. Shiftplanning's FREE setup service allowed us to easily setup all our employees and locations. The Customer Service is the best part. My personal CS client works tirelessly to ensure we are successful and is extremely responsive to needs and requests returning all emails or phone calls within 24 hours. It has made an otherwise colossal task simple and easy to do

Great for scheduling!

I love how easy it is to use for both the employer and the employee. I think its wonderful you can do shift swamp within the program and that it also gives reminders when your shift is about to come up.

Inconvénients

It could be prettier, its a very simple looking application but it works great so we love it!

Humanity as an employee

Humanity has made my day a to day at the office easier and has allowed for a much clearer vision for my team.

Avantages

Humanity allows for my team to see more clearly what shifts we have , when our phone time is and who is going to be out of office in the up coming weeks. It is a place where my team can set up our own scheduling and allows for ease when it comes to support our clients.

Inconvénients

Has a lot of features and configurations that can be tricky at first but soon you will fall in love wit hall the customization.

Humanity Software review

Avantages

Easy to use to review schedules. Employees enjoy being able to send messages to other employees and trade shifts.

Great Product- but it comes at a price

Avantages

The interface for this software is great. It's extremely easy to use. They can confirm staff identities using facial and fingerprint recognition. They have rule based scheduling and unlimited locations. The software is extremely easy to use and very robust.

Inconvénients

This is a great software but it does come at a cost. They are one of the more expensive platforms in the market.

Started good but went downhill

I feel like when we started with Shift Planner, the program worked great, the customer service was great. But then they changed the pricing on me, and then some of the features stopped working. We are considering other programs as I feel the customer service has been sub-par.

Amazing experience

Our new store has been with Shiftplanning since the day we opened our doors which was over two years ago now. As the administrator of the software for our store, I would like to say that the experience has been amazing since day one. On a scale of one to ten, ten being excellent I would give it a strong nine. Not ten just because I believe that their's always room for improvement no matter the service. Easy of use, my technicians are now able to look where they go the next day without the need of calling the office, cause yeah they can log in from there smart phone.

Inconvénients

i don't have any cons so far. Maybe i don't use the software to it's full potentiel, then i would see some cons but for what i'm using it for i have nothing to complain about.

My experience is the web version works fantastic. The mobile version needs a lot of work.

Yes, I would recommend Shift Planning

I have been using Shift Planning for the last four+ years and it just keeps getting better with each upgrade. With a staff of 10-15 part time employees it has been a flexible way to schedule shifts and keep everyone informed of any last minute changes. My employees like the ease in which they can communicate with coworkers through the email feature and the ability to adjust their upcoming availability. I never have to train a new employee to use it - the program is very intuitive and easy to use. On the rare occasion I have had a question or problem, using the live chat option has been able to give me a quick solution. I highly recommend Shift Planning!
