IndySoft serves us with the most reliable assets tracking tools that allows us to keep track of all our assets from one central point. It has a batch tracking function that help us save time when tracking assets by allowing us to monitor our assets in batch rather than individually. IndySoft has the most comprehensive data safety functions which help keep our assets protected during the whole tracking period. It also has reporting and audit trails features which help us gain a deeper view on all the activities on our assets.

Inconvénients

IndySoft is performing perfectly and we are yet to experience any downsides. Nothing so far to dislike.

Avantages

Very versatile. Can accommodate nearly any specific need for internal calibration support with the right configurations. Friendly user interface, easy to train new members to use.
Implementation Specialists are fantastic.

Inconvénients

Some functions/modules such as Print builder and Test Points could use more documentation in the user's manual. Much of it is trial and error, or reliance on IndySoft Support.
Without an internal knowledgeable System Admin well versed in the business, it can limit what you get out of the software.

Reports. You can easily track metrics and pull reports about anything quite easily.

Inconvénients

It's much more customizable than it needs to be. The ability to tailor the software to fit your needs is nice but it should have a fixed structure that cannot be changed. Every time an update is released or an internal update is made something breaks or becomes less efficient.

Not easy to configure a 2-D table unless it uses MS-Excel as an imbedded table

IndySoft is focused on the needs of calibration laboratories. They understand the science of metrology and is shows in the software. They are constantly looking for ways to improve the feature set and the user experience.

Avantages

IndySoft on the surface level is an amazing calibration management software. Everything one would need to run a calibration laboratory is in the software with plenty of automation options. On a deeper level, though, IndySoft can be modified and customized for many different applications. I use IndySoft to run thermal spray production and testing, shot peen (surface enhancement) production and Almen strip testing, and many testing commonly found in metallurgical laboratories. With some intermediate computer coding skills, I can easily customize IndySoft to fit as a software and automation product in many unique applications. From my team of nearly 150 technicians, I consistently get positive feedback on how IndySoft helps them perform their day-to-day tasks.

Inconvénients

It takes a while to learn. One really has to dive deep and explore IndySoft to get proficient at it. There are plenty of help videos on YouTube and the support documentation is fantastic, but you do have to really go through a lot of it to do it yourself.

Honestly, there aren't very many things that I don't like about IndySoft. Like most people, I have used tons of software for many business and personal applications. I have said it again and again, IndySoft is the best software I've ever used. IndySoft as a company builds software. But they understand the calibration process and all of the nuances that go with it and have melded software and application together perfectly. There are a large number of standard characteristics available as-is and an endless number more of potential custom fields/attributes that can be created and applied to make your calibration system truly one of a kind. Layouts/views/formats are all fully to your liking and easily modified without assistance, yet their Help Desk is always there to get you past a bump or to assist with any overaly complicated modification you can think up.

The only thing that I would like to see improved is the classifications and naming of the available fields. As mentioned above, the number of fields that can be utilized is limitless. But sometimes the names are abbreviated or identified differently in some areas making them a bit difficult to follow through the system. Similarily, some fields are simply checkboxes (which serve a great purpose) but it's not always easy to identify exactly what each field or group of fields is capable of. So there is often some time lost to-trial-and-error when creating new functions. But this is truly minor when compared to the functionality that is available.

It is easy to start with the basic calibration management functions and to rely on IndySoft for planning and scheduling.

There are several functions within the software that are just not intuitive. We struggle with creating custom reports which can be saved and rerun in the future. Configuring searches can also be a challenge and time consuming. This may very well be a training gap, which I have not had the time to explore.

I can easily keep track of the various machine activities which has helped me to also manage various asset efficiently and to also stay on track on the various maintenance routine of different assets in order to maintain perfect working conditions. It has helped to improve the rate of workflow which has bring about increase in production. Its very easy for me to use as it has a good interface i can work with.

Its customer care services should be improved and its frequent updates sometimes makes it difficult for easy use of the software.

With Indysoft we can track orders, easily reach out the history of the gages, and keep track the turnaround times.

IndySoft is incredibly user friendly, straight forward and packed with powerful customization features. It allows your organization to determine exactly what features and level of database access each user has. As an administrator you have full access to change any data that needs to be cleaned up. I have used this extensively to rebuild two separate databases filled with errors. If you are halfway technically minded and know the right questions to ask, IndySoft support is quick to answer and resolve your technical issues. The learning curve for this software is small, as it is very intuitive with its fully interactive and customizable Flowchart interface on its home page. Most users can perform all of their functions from two main screens "Home" and "Equipment View".

Seaching your data is very simple with IndySoft's easy to use SQL search statements that you can select from a drop down menu.

IndySoft is built with traceability in mind. Every change that an end user makes is recorded in its Events history. Even if a user has system permissions to delete a history record, a hidden history log records this change with Who, When, and What information permenantly logged. It's auto generated Stickers, Certificates and packing slips.

Then there is the huge benefit of Mass Updates that you can perform on your own database. While this feature is limited to System Administrators, it makes the correction of bad data im-ported from from a competing software so VERY easy.

Inconvénients

The only thing that can sometimes be inconvenient is that the software's two main data trunks, "Equipment" and "Events" do not talk during SQL searches. Other than that I do not really have any cons for this software package. This is not to say that it is perfect. It is not. That is what continuous improvement if for. But I believe that IndySoft is constantly working on making improvements. Most of the short comings I have encountered in my usage, IndySoft support has been able devise a highly serviceable work around that could be added to my application. Like when they wrote a script to auto fill the "description" field from three other fields. This one script greatly improved the consistency and search-ability of my database.

Software can be tailored to whatever unique needs or applications you may have. Most software out there can be limited to whatever is canned by the designers. Indysoft is different in a sense that data can be exported in so many different ways and can be integrated to other software such as MetCal or Quickbooks but it requires familiarity with SQL to fully use its potential.

Inconvénients

If you are the type of user that wants something basic to run your process out of the box then you might not like this very much. You will love this if you're familiar with coding since it's a very powerful software that needs steep learning curve.

Avantages

Minimal screens to execute once system is set-up. Basic report functions are good. Can use system remotely from home. Delineate between basic equipment and reference standards in system. Won't allow past due reference standard to be added to calibration event.

Inconvénients

PrintBuilder is a challenge to use. Cannot effectively delineate between Calibration procedure process and documenting limited range/accuracy requests from users. Number of fields available in Event Finder is too limited (hopefully better once we roll up to Version 12?). No effective way to run a report to verify calibration events related to suppliers when date done is back dated to suppliers "Date Done".

Configuration. Being able to adapt the software to the needs of the lab while staying in the framework of the application. Not that you need to change that much out of the box.

Inconvénients

System does not support electronic signatures from customers at time of pick up. Would like to see a system that allows for signatures such as FedEx, UPS. Customer comes to lab and can use a signature pad to sign for equipment picked up. On-Site or delivery would allow for signature that customer received the equipment or service.

A Gage InSite lite could be used on a Tablet PC that is synced with the application to allow for this.

The Indysoft software has been reliable and relatively straight-forward to use. A large variety of reporting options are available. Gage calibration data is quick and easy to import to the system from outside calibration labs.

Inconvénients

A variety of functions on the software just aren't intuitive and calling in for assistance is not always a valid option.
