As with many open source / cross-platform software, the best feature is it's free.

Inconvénients

It's ugly. I have used it on and off over the years on different Linux distributions and on Windows. I want to like it, but after using Microsoft Office for years, it just feels like it lacks polish and is unpleasant to use.

This software is a fair attempt at getting users to try something other than the more expensive popular options. It has features that allow that.

The UI looks very outdated, and there are many other versions with a much better UI that look modern and clean. LibreOffice fails at this.

I used the free Libre office for about 2 years. Overall it's actually pretty good and ous fairly easy to navigate and use.

I didn't like the way that documents between word and the Libre office equivilent aren't as seamless as I would like. Although it works, I found opening a word document messed with the spacing.

It has all the necessary resources for an office routine or for academic work.

It takes a while to start. He usually unconfigures some documents saved, initially, in some Microsoft Office application.

Love, that it's free and can fully replace the office suite even for advanced users. Also it's great that it's open source.

Sometimes there are issues when opening Microsoft Office documents, tables get crooked and out of alignment, or some elements are not displayed at all, but for document creation it's fine.

I did not like much about this. Yes its free, and if there is no alternative it would probably work. I would however rather pay for ease of use with different products.

The biggest pro of LibreOffice is that it's free to use .It's simple to download and install and then you're off to managing spreadsheets .

It's open source ,so vulnerable to security breaches ,but that shouldn't be too much of a concern if you primarily use it offline . I also find it slower than other office packages and it crashes fairly regularly .

Styles can be changed in bulk.
plays well with Mendeley for citation management.

Inconvénients

Libre Calc crashes occasionally.
Issues rendering png images.
Equation editor is a pain.

Its free and open source, from the community and for the community.
Works well, and the ability to read the doc & docx formats is a pro.

Inconvénients

When competing with online alternatives like Google docs, etc it doesn't necessarily standsout.
Remote work with a desktop software doesn't cut it.

It's the best office apps solution for Mac, I used Microsoft for mac for years and it is so clunky. LibreOffice works just as fast, more intuitively and produces documents that can be used easily cross-platform.

Inconvénients

It didn't actually work straight away, but to be honest it was probably down the configuration of the machines, this software is faultless!

In a time when a certain suite of products made for the office was the only real choice, a free alternative was great.

But why get a free, slow/unoptimized piece of software when you can have free cloud editing? LibreOffice's time has come and passed, I'm afraid.

The best thing about LibreOffice is the price. It's free. If you don't have money to spend on Microsoft Word, LibreOffice is a decent alternative.

Because it's free you have to deal with more glitches and less functionality. Things that are done easily in word can sometime be painful to do in LibreOffice.

Overall, it does a very good job handling most office documents. Especially for home users, I think it would be easy to use this without paying for MS Office.

Not quite as powerful or ubiquitous as MS Office. For professional environment, I'd still prefer to use MS Office

I had a need to edit a PDF, and MS office/open office did not seem to have this feature. So i tried this product and it allowed me to edit the pdf using find and replace. This is a feature that is even missing from the Adobe PDF product (you can do mass find and replace in Libre office). This was incredibly powerful to me and saved a lot of time

Inconvénients

The UI is rather complex and confusing , and just did not feel as polished as the MS office product. It had all the same features of open office/ms office products but in a layout and format that took me a while to understand.

It's free! If you're looking for a productivity suite that is almost on par with the Microsoft alternative, but at a much nicer cost of entry - look no further.

I like the interface - it's cleaner and less bloated with bells and whistles than the Office apps, works with the same file formats, and has the needed functionality to replace Office in 98% of cases.
