We use this software all the time to find new local talent at our branch. It is super easy to use, and very effective at finding top talent for our team.

Nothing. We don't use the software all the time, but whenever we need to find a new employee we use Zip Recruiter

Avantages

Easy registration, application process is smooth, job matches are usually spot-on.

Inconvénients

ANY re-upload of a resume erases all of the job history. The auto-extraction of information requires extensive editing of errors. Replacing a resume with a single word cut or changed, or with an improved skill/results description, erases all prior data entry/corrections. Cannot find a way to avoid that.

Avantages

ZipRecruiter is easy to use and integrated with our ATS nicely (JazzHR.) It works well for more 'standard' type of job openings and generally provides high quality candidates that fit our job description.

Inconvénients

With some more obscure job descriptions, candidate throughput can be slow - ZipRecruiter works better with more common types of jobs.

There was a learning curve to using ZipRecruiter, but once you learn how to use the program, it became a time saver along with an effective tool in fulfilling our staffing needs.

I always use ZipRecruiter when scoping out new job opportunities. Applying for new jobs can be a full-time job in itself. It is usually a big hassle reading through the job description and qualifications to even decide if you want to apply. Not to mention the actual application process itself. ZipRecruiter makes it so unbelievably easy to apply for jobs. It's literally as easy as "1 click apply". They even send you jobs that you qualify for straight to your email so you don't waste hours a day sifting through job postings. That is how I found the current job I am with, and have been here over a year!

Inconvénients

I'm not sure I have any con's about this software. It is unfortunate if a job doesn't post the salary range for the job posting but other than that there aren't concerns for ZipRecruiter specifically.

ZipRecruiter gives you a TON of applicants each and every day. Every time we open up the software or reporting, there are a bunch of new applicants / recruits.

Inconvénients

99% of the applicants do not fit the criteria of what we are looking for. Even with the guidance of the support staff and the filters set correctly, we are getting candidates that are truly NOT qualified for the positions within our company. They have not been able to fix this within their system. We have tried to come back a few times and still does not work. We are about to give up. I feel as though this software was not developed for our industry.

I get a lot of jobs sent to me on a daily basis. It helps keep me informed as to what is available in my market/area.

So of the job postings are inaccurate (as in the job title is wrong) and some of the job listings are old and/or no longer open.

I like that we have full control of what experience and keywords will filter prospects to the top of the list and show us who could be a great match, good match, etc. Zip Recruiter helps us skim the cream at the top to add the best quality we can to our team.

This is not a "slam" on Zip Recruiter - but an observation in general to job application portals. While they do allow us to narrow the field and focus our search, the inherent weakness is that applicants are filtered by keywords, buzzwords of our choosing. While that is a positive, it does leave the door open that we could totally overlook a quality prospect of great value to us simply because their experiences didn't hit the keywords we selected. There's no way to evaluate personality, personal qualities without the in-person conversations. For the sake of a broader search, we use this tool. But I still prefer the reference and direct application of someone who is connected by degrees of separation over someone random.

It’s easy to set up positions when available and we do seem to get a larger and more diverse candidate pool than we do on other job sites.

Inconvénients

Some positions aren’t great fits to hire on zip for us personally. I believe their algorithm in suggesting jobs to candidates could use some tweaking. I’ve gotten applicants who say they were suggested our opening but have none of the qualifications or experience were looking for.

Zip Recruiter is easy to navigate, very user friendly. You can post jobs easily and can easily get matched with the candidates. You will be also notified if someone applied to your job posting so you can contact the candidates right away after receiving the application.

The system is not integrated with my current ATS so I have to add the candidates separately into my ATS.

I can't turn off notifications for jobs from the place I no longer work at. Why would I want another position in a company I no longer work for??! Then to decide to start recommending positions that I haven't initially shown interest in is frustrating because pretty soon, that's all the offers that seem to come besides recommendations to a company I left with no interest in going back to.

It’s fairly easy to use for both employers searching for new hires and for potential employees looking for a new job. Lots of additional features but they all cost extra money.

It seems as though people choose to use the 1- Click Apply feature so you’ll end up with a ton of applications where a fraction are even qualified. They don’t have a small package designed for new/small business. It’s either 3 listings for $250 or 10 listings for $250...not necessarily budget friendly. Also, the candidates are better suited for professional/salaried positions, not temps or hourly.

Expensive and underwhelming results. I work in government and was using ZipRecruiter's free trial after hearing their ads on the radio. I was hoping to advertise my programming position to a wider audience, but my overall number of applicants was lower than previous postings (possibly due to seasonal factors too, but still).

The most important quality of a software is the design; it should provide: comprehensible information through ease of use and logical sequence. ZipRecruter allows, the job seeker and the employer to find specifics. You provide the specific information on Specialty, location and a string of useful information will flow. Is so easy to use that is almost intuitive. It provides follow ups.

It may have a better communication with the group involved in the search, maybe through a chat or any other mean.

Ease of use, simplicity of tracking, and a great price-point all make ZipRecruiter and ideal choice as a recruiting tool. From an applicant perspective, it is easy to use, fast to find work, and provides an excellent place to jump off of from. All of these make it the ideal choice in both the hiring / seeking work fields. One big thing to note about using it from the hiring perspective: it doesn't hide features like the other companies do - the pricing is straight-forward and easy-to-understand, no nonsense.

From a recruiting perspective, the only minor issue, and it is by no means a deal-breaker, is that there is no real robust/aesthetically pleasing way to "personalize" your company's hiring section. Beyond that, not much not to like about ZipRecruiter.

I love that rep, sends you emails and text messages letting you know there's openings that I am qualified for and I should apply. He also messages you to follow up on applications you have submitted and gives you some statistics about how likely are you to get an interview. Its more of an encouragement for me.

Good database of resumes to search through and good response rate for job ads in large metro areas. Good value compared to some other job boards.

You get charged per resume, but sometimes it comes back with resumes that aren't related to your search so I don't think thier boolean search method is as strong as some other job boards.

Being a small company, the pricing is a bit much for us because we are only about a 10-14 person team, also the search filters aren't as great as they could be. When I enter my filters I still get tons of candidates that may or may not even fit in to the category I've entered.

I think most people tend to start their search on LinkedIn, which is great for finding a job through your network and people you know, but if you are in a new city or don’t have a huge network, the job listings on ZipRecruiter are more plentiful and don’t get convoluted with a newsfeed. Also, I tend to get distracted by different articles and redundant How To pieces that take away time I need to actually find a job. At any end, most likely you are using every tool you can to find work, I would deem it imperative that you include ZipRecruiter in your toolbox I. A handy spot so you can access it quickly and frequently.

Offered a free trial but after getting nothing in return I called customer service. They suggested that I change my location of search. Nice suggestion but still nothing

Called up customer service and asked about the ability to see resumes and they told me that I had to pay for this feature but they would let me have at least 3 matches free. Then when I was unable to get the free matches to show in my dashboard I called back. They said wait 24 hours it should show then. I waited 36 hours and called back. I was told that there is no way that they give free resume matches and the support person should not have told me that I could get a handful of free matches. They again told me to pay to get a match.

The Job board for ZipRecruiter wasn't bad and was actually pretty simple to use when it came to posting jobs and what had a lot of the same features that you would expect from other job recruiting websites.

However, I wasn't too fond of how the system itself wasn't very user friendly when it came to looking up resumes and actually wasn't as organized as I would've liked. I also felt like wasn't getting as many people who were interested in my job posting.... maybe there were but ZipRecruiter just wasn't giving me notifications all the time so I'm sure that I missed a few.

ZipRecruiter's job alert system is tuned very well. Most of the job recommendations I have received have been for positions I am specifically interested in, and the actual application process for most postings is very easy to use, quick to go through, and having an "Am I qualified?" and a salary inquiry option for a posting is convenient. I also really like how the profile page is organized. It feels very neat and clean.

My biggest concern with ZipRecruiter is when it comes to searching jobs, it can be very difficult to determine if a company is legitimate, especially if a company provides no information on key parts like if a job is part-time, full-time, internship, etc. or salary estimates. When you click on the name of a company in a job posting, you are just shown other postings by the company. Having company pages would be extremely helpful and offer reassurance on what companies are real and which ones are phony. I also wish there was a way to filter out "1 Click Apply" postings because phony companies have a tendency to use this option. Lastly, I wish there was a way to message recruiters first from the job seeker side. If you don't get any recruiters messaging you to begin with, then the message feature is useless.
