Avantages

So many pros, how to list them all:

- Single Sign-on,
- Multi-factor Auth
- Life-cycle Management
- Universal Directory
- API access management

Okta coves all basis of Identify management in an easy to use software solution. The best aprt is now most of my employees do even know there password for access to critical / sensitive software and applications.

Inconvénients

When okta down, my staff are unable to get access to majority of the solutions they use. This has happened only 2 times and was for less then an hour each time in the 3 year we been suing okta.

Avantages

I would say that it is easier than other team/workforce email software that our company has used in the past. However, I still find it a bit convoluted. It seems like there are many things that can be integrated into our Okta settings.

Inconvénients

I do not know if this is the fault of Okta or our headquarters, but it is still hard to see the full benefits of using Okta for our workplace email/communications.

Avantages

My favorite thing about Okta was downloading the app in lieu of giving my company express permission to access my personal cell phone. If you download the Okta app and sync it with our work profile, I am still able to access all the files I need through Box, Outlook360, Concur, ADP, and others. It makes accessing them when I am not at my laptop, extremely easy. In the case of needing to get to my email remotely, it makes the process much faster than firing up the computer, logging onto the VPN, and signing into Outlook.

Inconvénients

Occasionally, I have to sign into the individual apps again, but it's still infinitely easier than working on my laptop in a pinch.

Avantages

I use this software for a company I work with and love how I don't ever have to remember passwords - AND how it logs me in automatically. I'm a man who loves things to be easy, and Okta removes those extra clicks of having to select my username and click submit (I'm looking at you, LastPass).

Inconvénients

When I'm logged into Okta, it automatically selects my credentials for me. So for sites that I have lots of user names for, it overrides my ability to choose one. I then have to open an incognito window, and pull my un/pw from LastPass - which is a pain.

Avantages

The single sign on through the dashboard is what I like most. Allows you to log into places with ease.

Inconvénients

For password management, instead of updating previously saved passwords, it'll often add another, so you can have tons of different passwords saved for the same login/website. Can make it difficult and needs manual clean up. It also logs me out daily when I'm in the middle of writing an email or about to join a video call, which can be slightly frustrating, delete my draft, and/or make me late.

Inconvénients

- Seems to lock accounts pretty easily and overly proactive.
- The App could still use some work

Avantages

The service works well. We keep an OKTA on-Prem server that integrates with our AD for user administration. The web side works well for remote users and allows easy software authentication.

Inconvénients

Some of the recent changes to the online interface are not optimal. De-Authorizing could be a little easier and controlled from the AD.

Avantages

I like that it has most of my work programs all in one place, with easy to use sign on and password saving features.

Inconvénients

It can be a little slow to load and rather clunky, also going through the process of setting everything up is a little difficult, but can be done.

Avantages

As a cloud first company and having a highly-distributed workforce, having Okta as our front door for our apps is very nice. Great RBAC. Good logging

Inconvénients

Not a huge problem, but closely monitor and audit who the Okta admins are and have access to make changes. We have only a few, and only allow certain people/accounts to make changes. We also get alerts whenever this happens.

Avantages

Okta is very efficient and definitely keeps all of my passwords and logins safe in one area.

Inconvénients

Okta is annoying to use because it is constantly logging me out of different pages I am on both on my computer and on my phone. I then have to get permission from my IT team in order to log back on.

Avantages

This is something we use daily and the best part of it is it provides the single sign feature to almost all the applications that we have in our company. Their best part is the google extension

Inconvénients

The tool's multi-device authentication sometimes creates log-in issues for users. We often get tickets for that reason.

Avantages

We use SSO to link our CMS platform and social media accounts to their delegated publishers. Okta has allowed us to ensure each social media account is secure and not at risk for a rogue social media post or a disgruntled former employee.

Inconvénients

I am not on the IT side so I cannot speak to the implementation process for adding new platforms within Okta/SSO.

Avantages

The software is easy to use and understand, New codes are generated every 30 sec so it's very secure to use for MFA for the organization sign-ins.

Inconvénients

Sometimes the code takes time to get generated and the time left for the code is not shown, only the bar is shown. The time limit for the codes should be more like 45 sec so the user gets more time to write the code.

Avantages

That is Okta's biggest strength—it completes its tasks swiftly and accurately.

Inconvénients

The only issue is that because everything is interconnected, if you forget your okta password, you essentially lose access to everything. I often encounter delay authentication, but it was never an issue for me.

Avantages

I used OKTA for over a year, it is an amazing SSO application, integrates well into so many other applications. The Mobile app is also simple to use, both the OKTA App and the OKTA verify App, I use both, OKTA verify works well even when you dont have internet access via the unique codes generated, the push notification feature is also great.
The Multifactor works well with Call, SMS, or the App.

Inconvénients

The frequency of having to relogin in can be problematic, it would be great if improvements can be made in studying user pattens of use and some AI based features can predict use and manage it effectively

Avantages

Okta protects our company and my professional / personal data by allowing us to have a secure sign in process. It has been very reliable thus far, and I haven't had any issues.

Inconvénients

Constantly signing in can be a pain, as we're often prompted numerous times to sign in to our Okta account throughout the workday. We are also regularly prompted to update our password, which can be difficult to remember and become confusing.

Avantages

As we use single sign on with Microsoft MFA and a replacement for it. We use Okta in our day to day work.

Inconvénients

Integrity with other Okta functions in the same organization.

Avantages

Seamless, easy to use, fast. A no-brainer.

No downside as far as I can tell. It is so easy to use I almost don't notice it.

We use Okta for our multi-factor authentication and from that perspective it does exactly what you wanted to do. It allows us to secure our systems and give our end users a quick and easy way to authenticate access into our system.

Inconvénients

While the product does what it says it can be challenging to deploy when your user base is not "technically savvy". Honestly I don't think that's the fault of Okta per se because the idea of multi-factor authentication can be a complex process to explain to someone who is not familiar with technology.

Avantages

The ability to have access to several different apps through a single source login is great in theory.

Inconvénients

Accessing the login is nigh impossible. Constantly having to reset the passwords through an administrator while in the field is beyond annoying. The fact that users get sent inaccurate security questions, and have little to no control over their information is also a huge issue. Do not reccomend.

Avantages

I like that Okta automatically prompts me to add new website logins to Okta so that I don’t have to login every time. It makes it easy to login to frequently visited websites. The websites are also categorized by my work apps and personal apps; so, I can more easily get to what I’m looking for. I also like that the Company’s IT department can easily provide access to different software tools through Okta, which cuts down on many requests for access.

Inconvénients

I find that Okta doesn’t consistently stay logged in and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when I am logged out.

Avantages

Okta Verify is very user friendly and easy to navigate. You just need to sign in using the single sign on and notification will be sent to the Okta apps for verification. Using Iphone FaceID will allow verification and authentication instantly for sign on

The secure verification can be improved by adding employee user ID alias to add extra security and protection

Single-sign on process that is easy to use and makes it so I don't have to keep track of numerous passwords to use the different applications that are necessary to my job,

Sometimes adding a new application to Okta can be a bit confusing and unclear.

Avantages

* No need to remember lots of different passwords, you login once into Okta, there you see all the available applications and choose what to login to.
* They have their okta verify app for lots of platforms, not only ios/android

Had problems with okta verify app on my smartphone, it didn't allow me to have 2 okta accounts, while I had to use 2 oktas: 1 for my company and 1 the client's.

Okta is a great way to ensure security across your company.

Inconvénients

Many times I have to do the 2 factor authenticatio multiple times in one day.

Avantages

A very solid choice for Identity management and SSO features, their MFA piece is equally good and the admin center is very easy to tell which user is locked out and why, it's a great mid-point for those who want to separate themselves from MS a bit before diving into Azure and their MFA process.

Inconvénients

Biggest con is simply the price overall but that can be said with any identity management software, no one likes paying but we have to do so. We've looked at a few identity management softwares as well and haven't been quite satisfied with pulling the trigger for a switch so we remain on OKTA for a time before switching to Azure.

Avantages

I like the fact that okta offer you various options that you receive multi-factor authorization notification, for example I really like that you request notification thru phone or RSA secure

Inconvénients

I don’t like the fact that Okta does not offer the face Authenticator option for the main log in screen & instead you have to enter your organization’s user information each time you download the app. Also the fact that there is 2 apps with similar names Okta Verify & Okta Mobile is kind of confusing.

Avantages

Okta provides a comprehensive suite of identity management tools for integration with traditional enterprise identity platforms. The ability to configure different for multi-factor authentication and the capability of classic OAuth2 integrations make Okta a well-rounded tool for identity management.

Inconvénients

Okta can have a slightly high price point for a standalone identity management solution. Enterprise-specific customizations and application integrations post-customization can be slightly tricky at times.

Avantages

Interface, app, chrome extension are super easy to use, great options to manage/organize various apps that are assigned.

Inconvénients

There is a situation in which the browser can be set to memorize the password provided by Okta, which technically could allow a user to directly access said password. Ideally they'd look into some browser policies via the chrome extension to account for this

Avantages

Okta is an incredibly helpful tool for keeping everything in one place. Instead of having multiple bookmarks to keep track of your usual spots, Okta keeps them nice and organized. It saves your passwords, so there's no need to remember all the passwords you may use across multiple platforms. It also provides an extra layer of security, which is essential to keeping your information safe and secure.

Inconvénients

No complaints! I have yet to come across any issues with Okta.

I like that it's easy to have all the necessary programs available to access in one place. My company uses Okta to house all of our major systems. I love that I can use just one password to access everything.

Inconvénients

I hate that the password has to be sixteen characters long. It takes forever to sign in and when you're clocking in it can make you late just taking the time to type out a sixteen character password.

It helped us to create new users accounts in our cloud application easy and efficient as well as provided the single sign on functionality as an added security feature.

Inconvénients

I think some apps do not work properly occasionally , I think it is not Okta, but the setup done by my Admin which brings this behavior of the apps occasionally.

Avantages

Is one of many tools to do authentication, it is simple to use and gives you the option to do two-factor verification using the code generated by the app or by clicking ok on a notification that appears as a pop up on your phone.

Inconvénients

It doesn't have any particular cons but sometimes it adds to many other authentication apps that you have on your phone and does nothing more or less than the others.

Avantages

Ease of use, return on investment, ease of management, reporting, constant improvements. Thats just to hit the top level. Full integration into your environment with more capabilities than most solutions can provide, and all in the cloud. A great place to start for a cloud first methodology.

Inconvénients

No, delete button for users but it's coming. I have several wants with Okta. But they are growing and is becoming more and more useful with each passing quarter.

Avantages

Integration for various tool under Okta is easy. Single-sign on to all platforms makes onboarding for new hires easier and all the users. With all at one place, its easier to navigate and access the tools needed.

Inconvénients

As a user I don't have any shortcoming about the product, but I know this is expensive as compared to other options available.

Our organization has well over 50 cloud-based applications deployed in various parts of the business. Okta enables single sign-on by the user, enabling access to all these applications in one place. Users do not need to know or have to remember the web address (url) or credentials (username and password) to the individual websites / application.

Inconvénients

There is the option for the user to show Recent Apps, which automatically populates the last 6 apps accessed. However, it would be helpful for the user to be able to mark an app as a favorite and a Favorites section to automatically populate. Currently, a user would have to manually add a section, label it as Favorites and manually drag in their chosen apps.

Avantages

The ability to have users only have to maintain a single set of log-on credential is very helpful for maintaining information security. The pricing of Okta is competitive with other similar products and they offer excellent customer support. The tool functions well when on network or working remotely.

Inconvénients

The only area in which Okta could improve would be there documentation. While it is not lacking, it is not organized well in my opinion. I prefer to try and solve problems on my own before having to reaching out to customer service. That being said, if there are issues, their customer service is very helpful as mentioned before.

We used this when I worked at petsmart and it was great because once you set up Your OKTA password, everything was the same across the board so you could log into any of the companies programs with the same username and password as long as it was through OKTA. Made remembering log ins SOOOOO easy because I only had to remember one, not 20

Password reset didn’t work properly and I always had to call if I needed a reset

Okta's nice because it keeps all of your commonly used apps and software under one sign on. It also helps the organization track usage of software so they can make sure they are investing appropriately in software.

Inconvénients

Unless you'd rather go to the app/software directly there isn't any real downside. I prefer having access to tools in one spot.

It provides a second factor of authentication and keeps our users safe from themselves

The reporting and logs can be difficult to go through and understand.

Avantages

As an end-user, it's a super handy tool to log in to all of the web apps you have access to, without having to remember all of the different passwords.
As an admin, it's great to allow and revoke access based on user roles/groups

Inconvénients

Custom integrations are a bit harder to get done properly. Not sure if this is an Okta issue or the 3rd party software thing, though

Avantages

SaaS Model, easy to provision and supports the most used applications from an access management and directory integration perspective. The user interface and capabilities are light years ahead of the competition.

Inconvénients

Limitations around on-premise integration with applications and environments. This is not too bad as a SCIM provisioning agent/component is available to support limited provisioning to on-prem applications.

Avantages

- The best feature for this app is that I can access my work related apps anywhere with just one click on an icon, my emails, ATS tool, and calendar.... everything with just one click away

- It also works if you have slow internet, trust me the area I stay in has very bad reception, most of the time... I don't have to open my laptop to check anything. I can easily do my work on my phone

Okta was easy to figure out and I started using this my first day working here. We access Salesforce, our Referral Portal, Chorus, Admin and several other functions through Okta. I like how it's laid out and is generally really fast.

Inconvénients

I dislike the fact that as of recently, we have to verify logging in with the Okta app. I don't want an extra app on my phone to take up more storage. Wish they just sent a text instead.

Avantages

Extensive and constantly growing catalog of integrated apps, services, infrastructure. Straightforward, easy to navigate & use UI. Best customer support of any enterprise service we are currently using. Extremely open and proactive about feedback, product reviews, surveys, etc.

Inconvénients

Fundamentally at the mercy of app devs to add SAML & API-based provisioning, so it can take long periods before an app is integrated.

It's stable and reliable. I have never experienced any issues with SSO with MFA

It would have been better if it could be integrated with GSSAPI/Kerberos so that you don't have to log in to your laptop and then to Okta.

Okta is extremely simple to use as an end-user and has a clean and simplified dashboard that incorporates clear push buttons and logos for ease of navigation. The added support for multi-factor authentication through a mobile install provides an added layer of security. Depending on the level of integration in an organization, it can replace bookmarks and login details of commonly used tools.

Inconvénients

Some integrations don't log in the first time when selected and may need to be pressed more than once on first login post authentication.

Avantages

It's nice to be able to log into many sites with a single click. It also has a nice browser plugin that allows me to access those sites quickly and effectively.

Inconvénients

I don't really like the interface and some elements of how the program works. I regularly have trouble when adding new programs to it. I also run into a lot of issues when trying to access sites from my phone. It took forever to get it set up and working.
