Okla is a highly reputed service for providing IAM services. It provides features like multi factor authentication, secure and manage access to APIs, SSO feature and universal directory. This is scalable and can be integrated with different systems. In one of my projects company used okla services for user management. So I can recommend this to anyone.

Cost is high and it might not be affordable for some companies.

The most important feature for me as a user is a single sign-on option. I should pass the auth flow dozens of times on a daily basis to various services and platforms configured on my projects.In addition to this, from the security perspective, the login and the password are not saved on my work PC, so if I had to use the standard auth flow with credentials filling, it will be very painful to repeat it so many times daily.The SSO helps me to pass the authentication just using my phone, it is very handy!I can verify my identity by clicking the button on my smart watches, or I am able to confirm the 2FA with my cell number usage.

The token expiration time can be variative from time to time.

I really like that I have a central hub where I can see all of the services I can access. And if I do not have access to one then I just simply search for it in Okta and ask for access. It is really great as I do not need to hunt down people and spend hours on figuring out how to get access to certain services.

Not everything is supporting it. This might be because of the licenses the company has but still there are some where I cannot log in with Okta.And the other one which happened recently is that do not forget that for Okta authentication you need internet access. The other day my internet went off and I could not log in to 1Password (we have the Okta based login) until I hooked up my laptop to use my phone's internet.

Okta is very easy to use. I got the app on my phone and is very useful to login verification to the VPN that I use for work. The notification pops up immediately and I have never had a problem with it. It is also great to to single sign-on to platforms that I use for work such as outlook, oracle, confluence and many others.

There should be another way to connect to okta because I once lost my phone and was not able to login to the vpn because the notification will go through my phone only.

Lets you access Apps without directly using VPN. This is useful for working remotely since you can use your personal computer to access the Apps instead of bringing your work computer home to access the Apps. All you need is username and password, and second authentication (if set up) to log into Okta to access your Apps.

There are still certain Apps that need direct VPN in order to access remotely. For these Apps, you still need to bring home your work computer to connect directly to VPN to access them. If this limitation can be overcome, then Okta would be fantastic for remote work; you no longer need to bring your work computer home.

Love this software it covers a lot of ground usually use it to manage my employee's access. Since you set up agreements and policies it's easy to then allow certain permissions and deny them if ever there be the need. Implementing it takes time I'll be honest be once all that is done when scaling a company it's a must-have tool.

Inconvénients

I dislike the slow implementation, the additional information input, and the several access keys needed to even set up a process. One wrong letter here and there and you can lose an entire workday solving a small team's problem. Access and platform could be more user-friendly but overall it's great software and it's affordable/safe.

Single Sign On is the best feature which i liked most about this software. It helps organisation to provide the access of a particular platform to their employees and they can login from this platform without asking new credentials to login. It also helps user to not remember different credentials for different platform for login.

The product is seamless with your processes. I log in to OKTA once in the morning and I can move from software to software or website without stopping to remember a password, or waste time resetting a forgotten password. I forget how manual those processes are until I have to wait for a co-worker to log in to a software. I have converted my team and they have started asking me more questions about other things because I am so "expert" in OKTA. I love it.

Right after implementation I had to wait for IT to add some "tiles" for the software I wanted to use. Not long after though I realized I could add the URL and the password to the favorites and use the web version of the software while waiting for IT. (There isn't much that I don't like about the software.)

Have you ever heard someone with this "great" idea? "I'm going to make a webpage that has all your links. When you click them, it'll authenticate for you". It sounds great, but in reality it's extremely hard to do. Securely storing passwords, integration with enterprise systems, centralized management of the lists of links, etc. And, if you do one thing wrong, you can compromise the security of literally millions of logins.

Okta seems to have conquered the problem. It's central management is wonderful. New employees login for the first time and immediately have dozens of applications available to them. New applications are all managed through our Active Directory groups.

It has a great chrome extension that gives you access to your links from your toolbar. The smartphone app, Okta Verify, is fast and works well.

At work, I use 3 servers within Okta. One for our "corporate" servers, one for "production" and one for our parent company. The chrome extension only shows the links from the most recently accessed. So, I end up having to use the web pages, even with the extension.

Also, having multiple Okta servers doesn't work well with LastPass and other password managers. They see all my servers as the same host. But, I have different passwords. So, I basically just turn off password management for Okta.

I can use a single set of login credentials for multiple apps, which saves me time and ensures that I can keep my accounts secure. One of the key benefits of Okta is its ease of use. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly, and it’s easy to navigate to the applications I need. I appreciate the ability to quickly search for and find the apps I need, and I also find it helpful that I can customize the dashboard to show only the apps that are relevant to me.

The best feature was the Okta Sign-in widget which was used as all the application's sign-in page and served by an AWS Lambda function without issues. The registration (onboarding) flow was easy for users to follow. Integrations to in house developed application + AD was easy to implement. Reporting to see which users were internal vs external made it easy for us to implement different password policies. We were also able to integrate with other clients that were already using Okta for SSO.

Inconvénients

In my opinion the API rate limiting tiers are expensive to operate at scale.

My company incorporated Okta into our daily workflow and everything has been a breeze since. No need to type in my password every time I'm logging in or worry about security breaches because Okta saves it all. It has a plug in which makes it even more accessible as you can log into another software without going through the hassle of getting to another page and signing in. It also only requires on log in session so you needn't constantly have to resign into it every time you need to get to another software.

The phone's app UI is sleek and modern and receives the authentication requests very fast. You can also add your personal websites that use multifactor authentication to it.

No cons to be completely honest. And that's the reason why my company has incorporated it into a lot of things.

The deployment and app integration with Okta is fairly simple. The tool is very admin friendly and user friendly. It's due to it's ease of use and wide variety of features that it offers, it is one of the best IAM tools and regarded as one of the best SSO solutions out there.

The SSO integration is very simple and straightforward with most of the apps and most of the vendors that support SSO integration with Okta. The option to have an independent directory as well as an option to integrate with your existing directory works quite well. Other features such as life cycle management, Directory service and threat management make it a complete package.

If cost is not an issue, this is should be the tool to go to. The documentation is very clear and the supoort is very responsive. The deployment takes less than 3 months.

It is really great to have the Okta system, as the user only needs to log in once to be able to access all his applications from one place, which I find very effective, especially when they do not use many applications to complete their tasks. I really appreciate how Okta allows me to customize the tabs, so that I can quickly and easily get into the application I need. I really appreciate the notifications that Okta issues when logging in, where you must enter the code to complete the login process, as this process makes me feel safe.

Inconvénients

I do not think there are negatives to discuss, as Okta is low cost and easy to set up and use, and the notification system is distinctive, and also the layers of protection that it provides to users are strong and reliable.

I love how protected my information and accounts are. I feel extra safe with Okta's multiple authentication sign-ons.

Sometimes, I can't even access my own account because the multiple authentication sign-ons claim its not actually me should I accidentally mistype my password since I don't login that often. It can just be frustrating having to wait to try again.

Very easy for the end user. It offers both push notifications and text options. The OKTA app just works. Haven't had issues with it going down.

It still offers a Yubikey option, but it doesn't always play well with some websites in Chrome. We discontinued that option for our users. Also if a user is signed up for text and there is a delay in the text delivery, there isn't a great way to troubleshoot it. The app has been very reliable though.

Okta truly lives up to its name by serving as a one stop shop eliminating the need to sign in to a host of applications separately hence reducing the time taken by such sign ons massively. Further, it also serves as a password manager/ vault and I, no longer, need to remember passwords to all the different applications (both internal and external) used at work. Our organisation is increasingly migrating more and more applications (such as VPN, microsoft office, our intranet logins, etc to Okta) - which is massive plus.

Inconvénients

The initial set-up of the app takes some time to complete and can be slightly complicated.
As an additional security layer, Okta requires you to input a security code generated on the Okta Verify app on your phone. Hence, it may be impossible to sign in to your applications if you lose or do not have your phone handy for some reason

-Sometimes it doesn't recognize me in the correct location. Sometimes its FAR off.
- When you mark "do not challenge for 24 hours" it only respects that if you log back in on the same web browser. If you close your computer or change browsers it will challenge you, even if you chose not to earlier. Only thing i would recommend them checking out. Sometimes I have to connect 4 to 5 times a day because it constantly challenges me

Okta and Okta Verify work seamlessly together to house all of your user credentials in one place, as well as the ability to sign in quickly. It’s easy to organize and connect all of your most used sites and programs.

I find myself routinely telling Okta to not capture passwords for certain sites, so it would be nice to able to “gray list” sites that you know for sure you don’t want to save a password. This way Okta wouldn’t have the pop up notification.
