Avantages

Being able to use a single sign-on password is very convenient. It is also convenient to have all of my commonly used applications available from a single "home-page" in my browser.

Inconvénients

Occassionally, I have issues with some of the apps not working correctly or I am directed to the wrong location. However, I feel this has more to do with the setup and less to do with the software.

Avantages

I no longer have to remember 4000 passwords and can instead leverage the SSO capabilities of Okta to access all my apps in one place with the added layer of MFA security they offer

Inconvénients

I have no complaints. The software works great and always does it's job. I just wish my company relaxed the controls so I could add personal apps to Okta as well and SSO into everything I do for work and at home

Avantages

With Okta it is very easy to log into various apps without having to enter a password into every single App. I have over 20 apps so having to do duo sign on (insert password and then have system send push notification) is incredibly convenient. Also, it is easy to request and receive an app.

Inconvénients

I have no cons, though I wish I could just obtain the apps without waiting to be granted apps.

Avantages

Fine-grained control is a reality and it's easily configurable.

Inconvénients

The user interface is a bit confusing on smaller devices but I don't know how that can be helped.

Okta makes life easy. With automatic provisioning of Apps, accounts, and SAML authentication, it's really saved us time (and money) in rolling out new users, and keep current users happy.

Inconvénients

There are certain features we'd like a little more control over, but for the most part you're able to customize and control everything. It's a struggle to think of something I don't like.

Avantages

You can use the same login for all your apps. Just have to set up everything one time. Some apps automatically recognized it.

Inconvénients

It doesn't remember your login. You have to enter your credentials from scratch in each app. Also, the expiration time is short.

Avantages

I hadn't heard of Okta before my company purchased it to use for single sign-on. I have at least a couple dozen apps within the Okta site of places I'm regularly logging into. Okta makes it so easy to log-in to the multiple systems I need to access on a daily/weekly basis. You can also rename some of the apps to make them more intuitive if needed.

Inconvénients

I didn't realize the company can set up and send out its own apps into your Okta automatically, and I had already added some of the apps myself, so I ended up with a handful of duplicates. This might be less of an Okta issue and more with how my company handled it.

Password management of course! it is so easily to use. You just need one master password to be able to access all your other sites passwords to retrieve.

Inconvénients

That it prompts you to change your master password every 90 days? I understand it is for security but maybe they could help to give u a password suggestion as I would run out of password very quickly.

My favorite part about okta is the single sign on function. It makes logging in and remembering passwords way easier than conventional methods.

Inconvénients

Okta fails when it comes to authentication. When the authentication works, it is just as good as any other authentication service. But, when it does not work, the situation is terrible.

Avantages

As an end user, Okta makes it really easy for me to generate and manage passwords for all my apps. I know it also increases security and compliance for my organization, so it’s a win-win all around.

Inconvénients

The mobile experience isn’t great. The app works fine, but if you just want to use your mobile browser, a lot of the apps require the Okta plugin, so they aren’t accessible.

Avantages

I love that Okta is essentially our company's one-stop-shop for logging into almost every software/system we access. If you work at a company like mine where you access 10-12 different sites daily that require login credentials -- Okta is a life saver.

Inconvénients

If you have a ton of sites with saved credentials - you may have to keep on your toes to maintain them all in Okta!

Avantages

We use it as an external authenticator for our Support Portal and Community for external clients, and for an authenticator for all our work related apps for our internal users (employees). It is a great way to have everything under one roof.

Inconvénients

I wish you could just see the password of the apps in your dashboard (without having to confirm with the push to your phone) but I understand the security reasons for that.

Avantages

Single sign-on is the best. My company does require 2FA, which became problematic when I was traveling outside of the US because I couldn't receive the SMS but Okta has Okta Verify that you can download as a secondary app to help authenticate. Problem solved!

Inconvénients

I wish I could connect the Gmail app to open natively instead of using Gmail for desktop within the Okta app

Love that Okta helps to streamline signing on and handling logins over multiple sites from a business side. Using your company Okta login is all you need.

Inconvénients

Probably a bit more often than needed, Okta will sign you out requiring you to sign in to Okta, just to sign in to another site.

At my company, we had separate logins for SO MANY PLATFORMS. And you know how it goes - each password has to contain a certain number of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, special characters, etc. It was getting so hard to remember passwords, and I was getting sick of having to reset my password every time I logged into something. OKTA solved that problem for me. By navigating to the OKTA page, I could click on one of the "tiles", and it would log me into that platform. Made my life 100x easier.

Inconvénients

Occasionally, I would have issues logging into OKTA itself, which made it impossible to log into my other apps. This was a bug that our IT team seemed to fix. Aside of that, a lot of my issues turned out to be user-error. Once I received training for OKTA, all of my problems were resolved.

Sometimes you don't receive the push notification, yet these occasions are rare.

It is very easy to use and very easy to set up. I like the ability to automatically push the notification to my phone for approval.

Okta is an extremely easy-to-use software for multi-factor authentication. It is extremely user-friendly from set up to ongoing use for any user with a smartphone. All they have to do is download the Okta app and follow very simple instructions to set up your Okta app with your token. Even switching phones is easy for those who get a new phone. The Okta push is consistent, fast, and reliable. For employees who do not have a smart phone or don't want to download the Okta app on their phone, there are alternatives like receiving a phone call.

Inconvénients

The most challenging part of Okta is that it can only authenticate one account per browser session. If for some reason you have two accounts that each use Okta as the MFA, it makes the user experience a little tricky.

Okta exposes its identity API in REST interface with JSON which provide both Authentication and Authorization based on the need.So it is easy to integrate with any type of application as a front end security layer .

OAuth 2.0 implementation by okta provide token which has a validity for some specific time avoid the overhead of making extra authentication call each time.

They give different sort of strong security implementation including single sign on for both Authentication and Authorization but licensing will vary based on the implementation we use in the application.

Time to integrate with any sort of application is very very less .

You need to understand okta documentation properly to integrate the appropriate security implementation.

It is a great SSO tool and for daily use, it is very easy for me to manage with just one click. I have all my apps at my disposal safely secured and all I need is one password to access it. This saves me so much time.

Inconvénients

The only thing I don't like is that I can't organize my apps the way I want. The apps that I use frequently are always shown at the top but sometimes, they move when I don't use them for a day or two, and then I have to search for them in my library of apps. It can be annoying at times and I wish there was a way for me to customize and organize my apps based on my preference.

Avantages

It's easy to use and user-friendly and so far admins are able to set things up super quick for us end users. The display is friendly as well, not clunky.

Inconvénients

I don't have any Cons that would really hurt the purchase but would like to not see the "suggested saved" pop up. That gets annoying, I'll save it if I want.

Great tool to bridge solutions with a singled identify provider. Between ease of use, deployment, and management, we enjoy using the tool. End users love the fact they can go to one location for all company approved apps.

We have had some challenges with the full automated workflow with less standard apps but nothing that is overly concerning.

I like how secure this tool is. Just a single password I have an access to all internal tools I need to work even if I am working remotely. The set up and configuration is easy.

What needs to be improved is the constant logging in. I understand that this is for security reasons.

I love Okta for it's main purpose, not having to memorize or write down all of my random passwords anymore. All of them are stored in one place!

I really hate 2-factor authentication with Okta Verify, it is such a pain! I also dislike that Okta doesn't keep you signed in, even if you're on your company's network all day long & working off the same device.

Instead of complex controls and customization, Okta focuses on getting you set up fast and offering power user options only when needed. This cuts down on time to configure and time to go live.

Okta also has benefits for providers, with a simple developer program and easy app publication.

Inconvénients

Okta can be cumbersome if your services are not well documented. This is a flaw of SAML integrations, and not of Okta, but one that can often pop up during configuration. Okta also has some naming conventions that differ from standards.

I love how easy it is to access certain dashboards that I am required to log into every day. The fact that I only need to login once to have access to all of these dashboards and tools where I would originally need to separately log into creates great efficiency in my daily work!

Inconvénients

Sometimes the security can be a bit much (having to send push notifications multiple times). If I didn't have my phone or Apple Watch on me, I would be in trouble for having to access Okta. However, I do feel extremely secure with the software which I think is the most important.

Avantages

Simple interface and setup make Okta easy to use and leaves plenty of room to master it. It helps encourage lots of automation and time savings.

Okta seems to be working hard to deal with some of it's growing pains, their support hasn't been all it was in the past, but they seem to have realized that and are working towards fixing that.

Easy to use. Lots of application integrations. Found that 2-factor authentication works easier with Google Authenticator compared to the native app.

It can get frustrating when you get logged out during your workday just because the 7-day log in period expires and a new log in is required.

Okta has made it much easier and more secure to log in to all of the multiple software I use on a daily basis in my position. When logging into an app, I get a ping from the Okta app on my phone, I authenticate by simply swiping and clicking on "Yes, it's me" and just like that I'm in! It's simple, easy and as secure as can be.

Inconvénients

The only negative related to Okta is the frequency at which you have to authenticate. On most days, it's one and done. Other days, depending on apps and machines used, Okta may ask for authentication two to three times throughout the day.

I love the security that it brings to our organization. It's an added layer that we have which brings value to our clients who trust their data with us.

It can be a bit difficult to use. Every time I update my computer, something goes wrong with Okta and I need to go through IT to get it working again, so I'm unable to access any of my work stuff for several hours.

This tool is great to use. Our IT department made us transfer to Okta and have loved it every minute. There are so many other software companies that integrate with Okta and make it so easy to log in.

Sometimes Okta is hard to se when not on campus at work. Could be a setting work applied, but love the functionality of it.

Okta is a great tool for Single Sign On. The one click option has made it very easy to stay logged in to all necessary programs.

I initially didn’t love having to type in the 6 digit code when logging in. But the one click authentification has made it a much easier tool to use.

It makes my remote work easier daily. When COVID19 hit, Okta was the tool that allow me to work remotely with my company VPN.

It was mortal when OKTA SSO failed. I think it doesn't fail so often now but it gave me a hard time when that happen.

I love that no matter where I am or what I am logging into, Okta allows me to log into all of my programs. It is so easy to get to everything without having to remember all the different logins and passwords.

This is actually really hard to answer. It is sometimes inconvenient when I need my phone for the authentication piece and I can't find it. I also had an issue when I got a new iPhone and needed an Administrator to update my account. Other than that, it is a seamless product.

Avantages

Excellent tool for SSO 2FA. Also use it to store passwords in a similar fashion to LastPass. Excellent app makes entering 2FA codes a thing of the past.

Inconvénients

Dashboard can be slow at times, but that could be a local machine issue. Nothing major to report. Works great.

If you lose your phone, have to restore it, or get a new phone you will not be able to log into your business laptop. Okta is setup to ping your phone when you try to access certain apps on your computer. If your phone has been reset somehow, you will not be able to work from your laptop.
