Mailgun's system is set up so well, and their SDKs for different languages are so complete, that these days I add a domain, add a Ruby gem, and my new Rails project has transnational email ready to go, highly deliverable, and I just don't worry about it after that. It just works.

Mailgun allows for a lot of customization. Users use the service on the backend as the infrustructure to mail, while using their own service portal to send the mail and segment their subscriber base. Mail sending is fast, reliable, and they have dedicated and shared IPs for sending.

Inconvénients

Since it is only to be used as the infrastructure to mail, companies will need the know-how of hooking up SMTP connections and have access to a developer and front-end software.

Avantages

We've used a lot of solutions, we're a mid-sized business and don't send enough for our own IP, however, every other provider has not had great delivery due to that. Mailgun has been the first shared-IP provider to give us unbeatable performance.

Inconvénients

Not being able to schedule emails more than 3-days in advance is a little bit of a downer, however, workarounds are simple.

Avantages

I don't have a ton to benchmark Mailgun against but it's made my job much easier when needing to track our outgoing email. At it's simplest, I can quickly search for failed email messages or confirm that email was sent and received along with the content of the email.

Inconvénients

There may be a way to filter or create saved filters that I'm not aware of, but I've been restricted to searching either by an email address or by an event type (ie Accepted, Delivered, Rejected, etc.) I do sometimes have to search for a bit to find what I'm looking for.

I've used this service for 2 years and in free tier is certainly one of the best value products. Is very easy to configure and use and has a good customer support .

Exceeded the threshold of the free tier, i think is more expensive compared other services.

Mailgun are generous with their lower level tiers of service. The most basic of which is free to low volume mailers. The caveat is that support is not premium, but it is definitely provided. We tested some service emails many years ago through Mailgun and are still using them 10 years later.

The last time we looked at using more of mailgun, some of their back end features did not seem as fully featured as some competitors, although a lot of development was being undertaken.

The app is easy to set up, and emails are delivered nearly instantly. The pricing is very attractive, with a pay-as-you-grow model.

During the infamous Google Gmail downtime several services around the internet experienced problems, Mailgun included. They marked some of my recipients as invalid (supressed). I only realised that by checking the supressed list manually. They made no effort to undo the incorrect supressions for me and all other users. Support didn't seem to care about remedying this type of problems in the future.

I've worked for various software companies who ran their own mail servers, which were great for tracking and integration, but a real headache to maintain. Mailgun has fulfilled all my email requirements and more - providing a reliable way to send and track emails, and a good API that support integration with many clients and languages. I've used it for simple personal projects and large-scale customer deployments, and it works brilliantly throughout.

Inconvénients

The main limitation is that there is a single API key per account. If this API key is compromised you have to change it on all services, so I often end up having to manage multiple mailgun accounts as a workaround.

Like the fact that it helps your emails avoid Spam filters, which it achieves by ensuring the IP address(s) are clean.

Inconvénients

When setting up the DNS (for the first time), if you have any conflicting records e.g. spf then this may / will prevent your account from being authenticated. A 5 min job can take 5 hours of waiting. Fortunately, Mailgun support is brilliant and can spot an error and offer a fix in seconds.

It is best product to send the mails in bulk . I am using this software for last 6 months and very helpful for sending mails in my applications and it also has a feature to very the mails .

Once, you were in a free trial your campaign ratio comes to 20% means, if you send campaign of 100 email it shows that 20 email were open but it was not, ideally if you test the service with your own testing ID's. Suppose if you were login to eight email address and check the email to one email address, it shows open to that eight email address which is not accurate

I understand that it is very difficult to share accurate ratio but if you are unable to share the accurate ratio, you should not share the incorrect ratio

Easy to deploy, they even have an iOS SDK. I use it to deliver automated emails for my app (welcome emails, password reset, announcements, etc).

There are currently no cons for me with this software.

As a developer I often need to add email to my application during the testing phase. Mailgun is my go to provider because of their support at the code level. There are thorough examples for every programming language I've come across, and their SDK's are second to none.

Inconvénients

Their pricing doesn't appear to be as competitive when you want to scale as opposed to other transactional email providers.

The mail delivery is very good. The process to integrate SMTP APIs is easy, and fast to setup. Good documentation.

Mailgun has a great API and ability to configure just about anything you need when it comes to sending email. Their UI is very clean and it isn't super cluttered with things you don't need. It was easy to find what I was looking for and easy to configure the settings.

Mailgun is able to deal with thousands of email sending queries with an excellent quality of service. We used this tool to send newsletters automatically generated by a Drupal website, to 14 000 clients for one of our customers. Mailgun can then track mails opened, links clicked, and so on. In the dashboard, you can find a page that displays charts for each newsletter - perfect for the client ! And we pay only for each 1000 mails we send, having the 10 000 first free. An API allows developpers to interact very easily with the Mailgun engine and all of it's features.

Inconvénients

Mailgun admin area could be improved, as the statistics of user link clicks. Maybe one useful feature could be to allow some accounts to only access specific statistics pages, not all of them. But it's a detail, globally this tool is a really good one.

It usually sends mail. API is straightforward.

If mailgun gets an IP blacklisted - from other senders - you could end up in trouble. Since they do not answer tickets for 48 hours you might not be able to send mail for 48 hours . Big problem.

I found Mailgun when looking for a better transactional solution for a client's WordPress site, and it wasn't long before I was finding new ways to incorporate it into other email flows, such as ownCloud.

Hands down, my favorite feature is the ability to house all of my clients under one interface, without sacrificing granular control or reporting.

The ease of configuring SPF and DKIM is fantastic, and their support team and online documentation have both been a pleasure to work with.

The software is user-friendly and the implementation was a breeze. Although we have not needed to use the maximum volume of emails sent, this software has the ability to handle a high-volume amount of emails which is always a plus.

I work with WordPress built sites and I recommend Mailgun to all clients. It is so easy to use and works flawlessly with your WordPress site set up and forms.

In my previous work as Director of Operations of a medical software company, I worked with the development team to implement and utilize the software. A lot of the technical side of things was over my head, but the mailgun support team was top notch and integral to us executing on a successful deployment of automated emails at a scale far greater than anything we had tackled before.

Most of my gripes are simply due to lack of understanding - a lot of the software was quite technical in nature and over my head. But I can't really speak in detail to any pros/cons of directly interacting with the software or its user interface.

Mailgun is the simplest & most stress-free of the transactional eMail services I've encountered so far. It's integration that ships per default in Laravel, a PHP framework for creating rich webapps, makes the setup & usage of Mailgun especially easy and painless.
The Mailgun API is simple and well documented, their service "just works", the support is always there when you need them and they have a whole slew of community packages that enable you to do more with their API without writing a ton of sourcecode yourself. I don't think there's anymore I could ask for in an eMail provider.

Mailgun is a bit on the pricey site compared to AWS and other SMTP based options on the market.

My team tried out Mailgun for some of some experiments around transactional emails, and the 10K free tier limit was pretty generous and allowed us to satisfy that need. Mailgun was easy to set up... just a few lines of code to integrate, like Stripe for email. Email delivery rates were high too.

We didn't end up using Mailgun beyond the experiment as pricing for beyond the free tier was steeper, and all HTML emails had to be hardcoded which made things not scalable beyond our immediate eng/product dev team (i.e. if marketing wants a new email, that'd take engineering resources... and eng resources are limited!).
